All,

VW Parts International have finally completed testing and released the valve delete plugs.

they can be found here:

https://vwpartsinternational.com/sh...oval-fault-code-off-wire-connector-new-parts/

https://vwpartsinternational.com/sh...e-protectors-blanking-plugs-new-custom-parts/

Once you have added both into your basket, I have got a group buy discount of 10% to apply this, simply add both items to your basket and then click the following link (This will open a new window with 10% applied):

https://vwpartsinternational.com/cart/?apply_coupon=RS3-2018T

As with all of these things, Audisport.net accept no responsibility should anything go wrong, and there is potential this could invalidate warranty.
I have bought mine, but as per other threads, Won't be installing until the 'cold start rattle' is resolved, I would hate to have my claim rejected on the basis I had unplugged the valves. Just my 2p

Enjoy all, And I look forward to seeing the before and after videos you all post :thumbs up:

Zac

At the moment your valves are closed in 1st gear and above until around 4000rpm, I think it is one of the valves but not 100%
Lots of people have unplugged the valves so they are open 100% of the time and thus your car is essentially an ASBO on 4 wheels.
Only issue with this is you have lose wiring exposed under the car and some get error codes.
These valves allow you to safely terminate and protect the connection and complete the loop to avoid error codes, hence needing both :)
Hope that helps.

Just to confirm... with the code applied the correct price is £57.48?

No mate, you add both to your basket and it will be £57.48. Then you click the third link and it will open your basket in a new window, and the total will be £51.73. This is displayed at the very bottom of the page, should see
Coupon: rs3-2018t -£5.75 [Remove]
at the basket totals.

Not mentioned a timeline, so i would just get them why it works, they have been discounted anyway, but we get an additional 10%

If anyone’s interested in the quality of these products and the supplier... I had them fitted to my previous car and they fit/worked a treat, so I have no doubt the RS3 ones will be the same too

I'm more interested in how to install making sure both valves are open, as I thought one was closed until 4k or something lol.

I can’t confirm for the RS3 yet as mine isn’t here for a few weeks but I’d assume it’s along the lines of... on a ‘cold start’ of the car, the flaps should open for 20, 30 ish seconds... so quickly jump out, get under and unplug... then you can turn the car off and get back under to fit all the plugs/covers

i'll wait for you to do it, as well as the resolution on the cold start rattle before I do it, My neighbours are going to hate me, @AudiNutta said it makes the car mental loud on a cold start.

Wow cheaper than the valve controller at 350 I was looking at, I’d want them open all the time anyway! Ideal. Purchasing now but also need to know how to install

Mental loud... that’s what I’m after haha!

I may wait too and see the outcome of the exhaust issues but I’m have a fiddle about and see when the flaps are open

I’m assuming @AudiNutta will know how it’s done as he has had his unplugged

I’d assume that’s pretty much it mate :thumbs up:

Do you have to do it either side?

I was also wondering this... as I’m assuming going off the photos on the website you get two of each part

Edit... a quick google and it looks like there’s one on each side... I’m not sure if it was a PFL or FL exhaust though? again I’d assume they are both very similar anyway and both have two

Correct

I still don't get this as right pipe is closed at idle, both open about 4k. If you do this at idle then just left side always open with right shut until 4k?

This was my question also. Although think it is the other way round, I was in traffic the other day and steam was definitely coming from the right pipe and nothing from the left...

Maybe they are both open for a small time on start up?

Forget the neighbours being bothered about the noise... they’re going to think we’re all a strange bunch, looking up and down the exhaust pipes for hours trying to fit these haha

When my PFL's exhaust flaps jammed permanently open, it was unbearable to drive. And the noise at idle for my neighbours was actually pretty ridiculous. I also had the decat pipes so it was even worse.

Dare I say that the new engine/exhaust is quite a bit quieter so would probably work better.

I think the plan for me is to disconnect (on a dry day!) and give it a go before deciding to go this route or buy the ASR kit in the other thread - wouldn't want to put these on and find it does my head in hehe

Just to confirm,do we need 2 of each?

What are the tips of the sports exhaust made out of?

They are black so is it just dark metal? Does that come off? Or is it something else?

@AudiNutta What is it like on the highway cruise?

@Spinstorm Seems like a heat protective coating, doesn't come off that easily.

It’s fine, inevitably a little louder but really doesn’t bother me. Only time it bothers me is stuck in traffic in 1st gear up to say 5mph, seems to fill the car with noise then but otherwise it’s very similar.

I’m still waiting

Got some odd email today but didn’t really give me an update....just said

“Hi there. Your recent order on VW Parts International has been completed. Your order details are shown below for your reference:”

Hope it’s a legit site
