Imola Yellow Audi S3 - APR - TTE420 - Audi Tuner Featured April '16

Even though the plan is to sell soon I can't help but tinker and improve.

I relocated the battery to the boot using parts from an A3 3.2.
Apart from the battery post in the engine bay I used a heavy duty terminal joint everything is OEM.

All holes, mounts and fixings were already in place and took about 2 hours to fit it all.

Battery is vented using the OEM internal pipe out bottom of box, and the box is sealed using a new gasket from TPS.

I may get the OEM battery post for the engine bay but that's not a priority right now. It looks tidy enough as it is.

Next issue to resolve is the ZF short to ground antenna issue for RNSE. This will increase radio signal for those who didn't have RNSE fitted at factory.

On the antenna issue if your looking for a upper amp there is a few that have turned up on ebay

Yeah I've seen, I got the upper and lower amps for less than £40. Mad how 18 months ago the same parts on ebay would have cost me over £150. Hence why I was putting it off.

I did the same and like you got both for under £40 now just to buy the connectors and repair wires , if you

Great mod battery relocation. How much did you pay for the parts? In my opinion they should have done it that way from the factory. Good 20kg less on the front end.

I got all parts for about £150 off eBay breakers last summer.
Rear positive and negative battery cables
Rear fuse box
Postive battery lead to starter motor
Battery jump post

Modified my existing small postive/starter lead and put a M8 terminal on the end to fasten to battery jump post.

Yeah i agree should have been a stock setup on the S3.

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the relocation parts?

Good job on the battery relocation.

Is there other benefits from doing this?

Free up space in the already tight engine bay area.
Allows fitment of RS3, TTRS, TTS and R32 style OEM air boxes or after market setups.
Rear fuse box has 3 separate fuses for powering anything you require in the boot.

Been a busy few weeks.

Rear wiper delete and antenna upgrades done
Fuel injectors serviced by R-Tech
1 was beyond recovery and 3 needed a service
Upgraded FPRV from 155bar FPRV to 165bar
Walnut blasted the inlet valves
Replaced Milltek TBE with full 3inch Cobra Sport, much better fitment and quality.

Recently attended a dyno day at Unicorn Motorsport and with fueling system refreshed achieved 439bhp and 471ftlb
Last year I was there got 414bhp 458ftlb on same dyno.

Come to think of it the bad injector probably caused my initial engine rebuild due to a broken piston landing, back in December 2015.
I highly recommend anyone with a car older than 5 years to get their injectors serviced.
