Difficult one, my wife's car is on the boat at the moment, so will be in the UK next week and I'm sure could be ready for the week of the 5th, however the Mrs has already got a 67 plate so not much point in getting the same plate so we are going to put it off a few weeks. We are buying so it makes sense for myself to get an 18 plate, however as you leasing it make no difference as your payments are fixed and you hand back the car in the next 2 years.

I guess if you are in no rush get an 18 plate.

Ye you guys should definitely wait for the reasons given.
It would be ‘nice’ to have 18 plate just to have the current plate for 6 months rather than it be superseded after 4 weeks but not too bothered. Not going to wait a whole month just so others can see my car and think ‘nice that’s brand new’. But if it was 2 weeks yes I would wait just for the privalidge . Ps the newest car I’ve ever bought is 6yrs old! So this is kinda special moment!
Although if I lease or buy new after this one I’m aware this S4 will be handed back a month before the 2020 plate so I will have the same issue again, If I wait I will always switch to a new car on the new plate. Yikes what do I do!

Correct, that is what my tracker was saying, it was moving forward but order status was at "orderStatus":"20" at the point it had spend 5 days in QC I phoned Audi CS and they told me it was in paint. Once it left the factory the tracker was working again.

My wifes car is currently at Emden but City of Sunderland has just left for Port of Tyne so hopefully it will be on that.

My order did that so I would say you car has left, and on it's way to the port around 3-4 days. Then the luck of the draw. My current A3 order was only there a day, the one before that almost 6 weeks.....

My RS3 (and I am sharing here because I have an S3 now) arrived at Sheerness on Monday (stage 40).

I am expecting it to arrive at the dealer within the next 7 days - although I am hopeful it will be before the weekend.
We finalised all the finance today - just need to get it sent over and signed after tomorrow because the settlement figure on my S3 changes then.

You have just learned about the infamous fake tracker updates (which there are literally hundreds of posts about - why you should read back through the thread!).

The tracker updated 21 on Thurs, 22 on Fri and on Monday at midnight like clockwork 24 which is QC. The real car however starts the build on the date that your build week is, the first time the tracker is up to date is when it goes to 30 - when it leaves the factory.

As far as CS is concerned those status numbers mean nothing and only on the first date of your build does their system show you are being built. Typically the build process is finished and the car leaves the factory on Wednesday or Thursday of the build week.

So I expect at around 1.05am today (or tomorrow at the same time) it will go to stage 30.

The tracker does NOT update in real time.

It updates at the end of the day between midnight and just after 1 am.

Your car left the factory earlier in the day. It takes 3 days to reach the port then up to 7 days to get on a boat. In my case my car took 6 days in total to get from the factory on a boat and arrived in the UK on the 7th day.

Where it has been sitting since Monday and so now I can look forward to a weekend without my new car which is sitting in a compound at Sheerness being **** on by seagulls because the ******* transport company seem to be picking up everyone else’s car first!

I’ve paid the deposit already signed the finance and the car is registered. It is literally my car. And it is sitting at the port.

I was going to say I’ve not yet asked the dealer not to touch it (will once it’s on a ship or in a few days, so they know) but wondered if it’s possible/ an unreasonable request to have it delivered from the dealer to my house (which ive asked to pay for as it’s a fair distance away) with the covers etc on so that when they’re taken off it’s clearly not been touched and has been well protected? Wonder if anyone’s had that done before.

Dealer has been told not to wash my car which they have agreed on. When I picked up My A6 the the other year dealer also agreed to wash the car, it turned up a little dirty but it was fine, as the paint work was in perfect condition

Actually I wanted to do it because I don’t want any delay changing car. They did say to me it would be better to wait before paying the deposit to check the car but honestly if there are issues I’ll get them to send it to a paint shop and sort it out.

What happened to your car that made you reject it?

One of the side side skirts was damage during shipping, the body shop tried to repair but cause more damage. I would never now except a new car that had been or has to go to the body shop for repair, not when your paying Audi prices.

I’d be exactly the same as the last time although it wasn’t an Audi they got the engine and configuration wrong! Although I thought you paid the deposit on purchase but haven’t on this one...

In the unlikely event the dealer has damaged the paint (imagine the bad publicity generated) you'd have more chance of spotting imperfections. You're quite within your rights to go over every inch of the paint work before signing for it.

I understand that but it’s going to the dealer and then getting shipped to me on a trailer, hence I’m not actually getting it inside the dealership because of the distance - this dealer was much cheaper than everyone else for the same car elsewhere - in which case it reduces the chances of any further damage while it’s on another transporter

I am not referring to the tracker not updating until after the car arrives as that happens quite a bit, but what I mean is online chat or over the phone saying its still in port when it isn't.

It can take around 10 days from the factory to Emden but status 30 isn't just the journey to the factory its all the steps from the factory to getting on the boat. If you look at your JSON (please just look back a few pages as people always ask how to access it) then your see that the status is probably 38 by now which means it is waiting for a boat at Emden.

If I remember rightly I had the same build week as you. Showing as 38 but no official 'update' as to when it changed.

So my car was transported at Lunchtime Wednesday. Dealer said it will arrive Thursday and they should be able to have it ready for me that afternoon depending on when it arrives.

The tracker has however already updated to status 70. Technically it is correct but it’s just a few hours ahead of reality.

But for anyone who is curious you can see my status below. It’s an RS3 saloon which is built in Gyor Hungary just like every other A3/S3/RS3
