Well its been some month's since i fell out of love with the BT S3. I removed and sold all the good tasty parts plus the wings, bumpers. Literally ripped it in bits with zero finesse ....i came to organise scrapping the shell....... i literally couldn't do it..

20180201 145411 3024x2268
20180201 145438 3024x2268
20180201 145505 3024x2268

So i have been thinking what i could do.... put it back to standard????? Hell no

Step forward the engine doner......

20180201 150801 1612x1209

20180201 150836 1008x756

Not decided on the full spec but i have chance to buy my old GT35 turbo which should spool really well on this engine

Unsure in which route to go with reguard to displacement 3.0 possibly with a Mk5 R32 head with supertech springs
IE rods
Forged pistons
Strengthen the gearbox
Unsure on exhaust manifold and intake manifold
Emerald K6 ECU

Full spec will come later with a build thread as i will be doing the bulk of this myself so let the fun commence :)

blimey did you even get rid of one of your bonnet raiser's ?

at least I really believe, we will see a VR6 Turbo'd build seen through to the end.

WE didn’t getting those v6 mk4’s in oz.

Is it a 3.2 or 2.8 engine?

> 1998 Golf V6 4 motion is 2.8 24 valves 204 BHP

< 1998 Golf Vr6 is 2.8 12 valve 180 BHP

2.8 24v in these Ian, a few reasons which im going this route..... stronger block than the 3.2, these have the strongest gearbox im lead to believe, and whole car was £350 lol

Spare parts PLUS everything you need for thenconversion. Good work!

I look forward to this one mate. Mainly interested in the nuances of wiring and sensors etc. I know the engine fits in easy ... and the space you have back there for a turbo is immense.

I may even join you one day in VR noggie land.

whats the difference between the 4 motion and R32 ?

im guessing the 4 motion is to the R32 like the 1.8T quattro is to the S3

Well the only thing they really share is the chassis and quattro system. It is simular to the S3 and the 1.8T quattro thing. just a few more differences as the 4 motion is 2.8 and r32 is 3.2. 3.2 has a different crank and larger bore block but parts are all interchangeable. Both similar but different :)

Why is the block stronger?
As I understand it the R32 head is way more capable.
And don’t they both use 02m gearbox??

2.8 has more meat between the water jacket and cylinder wall which is important when you turbo these engines which is why the 2.8 is the preferred block for reliability.

Remember not all 02M boxes are the same, different codes, this has the DRP which has the strongest gearset apparently.

This is info i have picked up from people who have done these, im no expert by any means its all a learning curve :)

I will be down to see you shortly dude, possibly next weekend :)

cool beans.. v6 noise will be awesome.. mr tuffin may be inspired to follow suit :)

I did think about the tfsi route also..... but i know how you feel about those lols

Gear housing is the same. It’s the clutch housing that is different to be able to mate up to the VR block.

And then DRP apparently has the strongest housing.

Well 2 years have now past...... not much to report here unfortunately guys lol.
I still have the shell in the garage I lost total interest in the car after a couple of really deflating moments with shells, cars i bought to resurrect the noggy.

I have recently bought this.... which has reignited the fire lol. I will evaluate the situation and go from there, I might end up binning the old faithful and start a new chapter with the mk5 but we will see.

Hope everyone new and old is well, stay safe people

I have the mk5 r32 not the fastest on the toad but great fun to drive it’s one of the reasons I decided to do 3.2t conversion,

Are you still thinking of going to 3.0 or sticking with the 2.8? Any power goals in mind?
