I'm reading on an American forum that the new 2018 s3 has some slight differences. Is this the case for the UK S3, too?

The North American models in 2018 finally get the 7 speed DSG....that is about it. Note HP remains unchanged at 292.

If my order was placed mid-October, do you think mine will be a 2018?

Mine is a year old & have just bought it used oddly enough because i got it from a non Audi franchise the only extra they specified was metallic paint however it also has virtual cockpit rear parking sensors but no auto dim rare view mirror does that mean rear parking sensors was also an extra ?
Seems like they didn't have a clue of spec being non Audi which in my case was a result as got it for a fraction of its new our price

Yes but it may just have been a stock model direct from audi so not a configured car by a customer

Mine is a MY17, delivered Feb 2017, doesn’t come with sensors as standard. Simple rear sensors were a £450 option when I ordered, I didn’t bother to spec but it’s a 3 door so no real need.

Wait and see whats standard on 2019 models bet the price of the tech pack comes down to around a grand and youll start to see a lot more cars in exclusive paints in showrooms

Will be some nice ones for people to sweep up before the next generation comes in. I didn’t realise how much GTD’s, GTI’s and R’s get as standard nowadays. I know they don’t get leather but tech wise they get pretty much the lot.

The S3 in North America comes standard with leather, pano roof, power seats and a few other goodies. Two "standard options" are offered. The next one adds VC , B&O and some other bits. The options are SS seats, nanny devices etc. I much prefer the UK ordering system that allows you to order pretty much what you want. The North American order system probably results in a cheaper standard package, than the same bits as options but I dislike the fact that you are forced to order a way more expensive standard package to get B&O as an example. Check out the Canadian Audi site and you will see that all Audi models are offered with heavily loaded standard packages that do not allow you to delete any of those items, or even offer cloth seats as an example. Mercedes and BMW are even worse in forcing you to buy an expensive package to get one item you really would like.
