Cleaning all this muck off car advice

First time driving in snow yesterday with this car and it's now absolutely filthy along with around 2 weeks worth of dirt ( new born baby limiting my cleaning days )

Would it be best to rinse then snow foam or just snow foam and let it dwell jet wash and maybe another blast of snow foam ?

Plan on doing a wash tomorrow as it's forecast to rain early hours of the morning the be warm through out the day plus I need to go get some sonax bsd from eurocar parts today.

Snowfoam, let it dwell and then rinse. Repeat the process if it doesn’t get rid of all the muck first time round. You can also use and mix tar remover (e.g Bilt Hamber Korrosol or CP ItonX only if you have it) or spray after the snowfoam

You mean the grit guards for wash bucket? If so, yes. I have only started using it very recently but I have always used two bucket / mitt method and been extreme careful with which mitt to use where.

I've always used 2 buckets too with 2 wash mits doing one panel at a time, one with soapy water and one with just warm water, one mit for the main body of the car and one for inside the doors and under the rear bumper etc. I generally dip the mit into the clean water and rinse it out onto the floor. Might aswell invest in one after all if it's helps 5% to reduce any scratches then it's worth it

I give a quick jet first with my HP washer - just to get loose, gritty stuff off. Then if you have a snow foam attachment go ahead and foam the car and leave for 15 minutes or so.
Next another quick rinse with the HP washer. The car won't be clean yet but hopefully free of the nasty; gritty stuff.
Use the 3 bucket method, wash, rinse, wheels with grit guards inside each. Use a warm soapy decent car detergent in the wash bucket. Use a new wash mitt or decent wash cloth (reserve this one only for the car bodywork). Treat the car in 3 sections started with the top down to the top of the windows. Next wash windows down to mid-door level. Lastly the dirtiest lowest section is washed. Plenty rinses of cloth/mitt as required. Perhaps a last HP wash followed by another clean with the mitts/cloth if required.

I am mentioning the long method as the car is dirtier than usual. You may need more or less steps as you see fit. Further products like tar removal etc you can decide when you have a more clean surface to look at.

If you live in a soft water area I'd be tempted to snow foam, rinse it off and leave it at that. It'll get a lot of the muck and importantly the salt off with minimal effort. I'd love to do this but I can't as the water here in West Berks means I'd have a car covered in water marks instead.

Ah well better just focus on the new born. Congratulations! Kids limit my car cleaning time too. Some weeks you just have to live with it. I wash the windows and the lights so I can see and be seen and leave it at that.

They change your life don't they, it's my second, other one is only 15 months old so hands are full. Hopfully free some time up tomorrow

Lmao, one of each so that's me done no more.

The audi was possibly going to go and be replaced with a Passat estate r line as space isn't amazing in the a3 saloon, But I think it's going to stop as I like it too much.

All done. Not perfect but better than it was. Can't wait till the summer months so I clay it and get it proper clean.

One thing I do need is a cloth to do the windows I bought these yesterday and to say I'm not impressed is a under statement

They don't seem to have any bite. Anyone recommend a good quality glass cloth that will remove any residue left behind ( I use gtechniq glass cleaner ) it seems to leave a very fine amount of residue that you can only see when driving into the sun.

+1. Top stuff. I also started using the cloth after watching his videos. The guy loves to talk but gives you a very comprehensive and unbiased reviews. All my cleaning cloths that I have are based on his recommendations.

I used high definition wax for 4 years on 2 of my cars both Red it left stunning results, so looking forward to using ultra high definition, yeah John can go on a bit lol but what l like is dedication and he's very down to earth, l used to watch Ammo NYC but he's just tooooooo much in your face and tooooo anal and he's got too big for his boots as they say......

what I would suggest and my method is as follows:
jet wash the car at a distance to get any of the large contaminants sitting on the surface etc. (start high work down)
then I use a pre wash auto finesse citrus power or similar, g101 for the tougher areas, I would use this on tyres working in with a brush (not on rims if LSP is applied), wheel arches etc. Note g101 will strip LSP. let this dwell and jet wash off. I would use prewash on wheels and clean these with wheel woolies or similar
I would then snow foam let dwell and jet was off
I would then use the 2 BM using 2 wash mitts, 1 is for the main portion of the car the other is for the sills, underside of the rear bumper etc. basically all the areas that are going to be highly contaminated in comparison to the rest of the car. This is done so your minimising moving any dirt around the body of the car. Again I use straight lines for washing and start from the top and work down. Jet washing panels as I go along
I also try to avoid washing the car on extremely warm sunny days and in the shade if possible not that we have many sunny days
After all that have a nice cuppa

You can then go on and use iron remover and clay bar before polishing if needed and applying LSP.

Watched a couple of this guys videos this week and they are great, although a little long. Writing out my list of products as I watch. Need to order soon as new car well on its way now and I don't want to take it to the local car scratch, sorry wash..!

Try spraying some APC on the worst areas before snowfoam. I find this works really well
