For those of you with adaptive cruise, how smooth do you find it? Mine (S4) seems a bit late & sharp applying the brakes, even with distance set to 5 and a car correctly detected in front but I don't know if this is normal? I'm normally in Auto drive select mode, though have experimented with the others.

Traffic Jam Assist seems a bit jerky too sometimes - if the car in front moves off the car can accelerate much harder than I would, only to apply the brakes sharply a few feet later. It doesn't always do it, but not exactly a smooth ride when it does. I'm still getting used to the system but just expected it to be a bit more relaxed!

Hi. I have found mine to be very smooth and blends the movement, distance very well. This is both on motorway or slow traffic jam assist type situations. I feel comfortable that the car will react in time.

I have the tfsi 252ps engine but you have a more powerful, sportier engine that may mean she will react in a more dynamic manner - perhaps?

Mine works very well to be honest with my S5 and I have it in the closest setting and on dynamic! To be fair I’m an impatient person (I do crank it back when it’s wet etc) but I don’t really have any problems as long as the traffic in front is behaving normally and it’s locked in to something. Maybe get the garage to check it over?

I don't find the traffic jam assist overly jerky but I do recognise your comment about braking distances on ACC. At any distance setting it brakes a bit later and harder than the ACC on my old Volvo, but not so much as to be a big deal. Because of this I fiddle with distance settings more than I used to.

I find it sharp if I have the box set to Sport mode, if I am in 'D' it does seem a lot smoother...

Check which mode as cuke2u says is makes a big difference how aggressive it is.

Hmmm...sounds like mine is about normal then. It's fine most of the time, just occasionally brakes a bit late.

I'll have to experiment with drive select a bit more. Haven't tried it in dynamic either!
