Hi guys and girls..Im looking to get a bit more activity in the A7 section, it can be a bit baron sometimes when I have been looking for information.

So, I am trading up from my loyal servant, an A3 8p, I am due to go see (and hopefully buy) a 2013 A7 Black Edition at the weekend. Got some nice kit on it (Park Assist +, Bose, Comfort Key, MMI Touch, Cruise, Tech Pack and HUD to name a few). Looking forward to seeing what this beast can really do and I hope to update this with anything I find that may be useful to others. I have found a user manual and am looking through all the basic stuff so I can get it set up as soon as I pick it up.

Looking to get a Data only sim to start with, to help with google maps and I'm sure other things when I discover them. Will need all the help I can get when driving to the south of France later this year!

It says it has light pack, which I'm hoping is nice white light in the cabin and boot, but if not I have a few LED bulbs that I can hopefully use to rid it of the yellowy haze that comes as standard with most things.

I intend to give it a deep clean when I get it and inspect the paint for defects, with a view to getting it professionally detailed and adding a ceramic coating, and/or PPF. Blowing most of my budget on the car, so we will see what I can afford to get done, but I can get it to a reasonable standard myself without machine polishing.

I will post pics (if and) when I get her.

Matt

I think this section is baron as A7s aren't that common. How many do you see driving around compared to A6s? Which makes them special lol

There is a lot of cross over betwen the A6/A7 so like @Rabie2412 says the A6 section is useful too.

Looking forward to the pics. Biased I know, but I still think the A7 is one of the best looking cars on the road - real presence. I hope you enjoy yours

I had a A7 black edition bitdi for 3 years, just got a new S5 cab, my old A7 is currently for sale at stoke audi. Any questions please ask

Well...here she is! :sign omg::sign wow:

Even though the dealership washed her, it was far from clean. Did as much decon as my frozen fingers could bare (which wasn't enough) and gave her a bath. The body work is dotted in tar, and the wheels are pretty filthy. Will try them again when the weather gets a little better. I'll do a small write up in the detailing section too with some extra pics.

Drove back 120 miles and it was flawless. Incredibly smooth, yet power on tap when needed. The cabin is spacious, beautifully designed and very ergonomic. No need to stretch for anything. Really looking forward to France now!

The interior lights (though not bad) don't seem to be LED for some reason. I have some LED bulbs in the garage that will hopefully fit. I know from doing them in my A3 it made a massive difference, so I'll have a look at them side by side and see if I'll do them all. Boot definitely needs them as it is difficult to see in that cave in the dark!

Biggest surprise was there is also no SIM card slot between the SD slots. It does however say it can broadcast a WLAN network, so any pointers here would be helpful. I have tried looking in to my options but I haven't found anything definitive yet.

I'm currently looking for threads on how to possibly update the Sat Nav if possible. It got me home fine, but I don't want to be half way through France and get stuck. I have looked on 'My Audi' but can't find some of the things people are talking about.

All in all, I am extremely happy with it. May need to ask my VAG Master Tech mechanic to have a play on VCDS to see what hidden tricks could possibly be enabled.

Hopefully I can get the smaller bits done soon, I will update this when I do with some sort of guide if I can

Nice car @AUDI_ADDICT. What is the MY of the car? Maybe the LED lights are on MY17+ cars. Mine a are all LED.

Have you got the Tech Pack? I think this gives you the Sim card between the SD Cards. The Tech Pack also gives you the larger screen and HUD iirc.

Sat Nav is updated by using MyAudi (there should be an icon for Map Updates in MyAudi, as well as Google Navigation, Picture Navigation etc.) and downloading the data on a PC using some weird Java program and then dumping onto an SD card (you can download UK maps only or the whole of Europe if you want - around 11GB). The SD Card is then put into the car and an update is carried out. You don't have to sit in the car whilst the update is done - I did though and took about 20 mins. The latest maps are 2018, previous was 2017/2018 (I actually need to do mine). If you can't update the maps like this maybe it's a Tech pack thing again. Do you have Google mapping for Nav?

VCDS tricks on mine (though I did them with OBDeleven - loads cheaper than VCDS):
Lap timer enable
Remote close of boot lid by pressing the key fob
Needle sweep on start
Auto start/stop - default to off.

It is a 2013 car. Gave the reg to a friend at Audi and they got the VIN and spec checked. Says it has Teleology Pack. I've read somewhere that there was a change in specs around the time mine was manufactured due to parts availability?? Not sure if this is right, or if this car was affected? The screen looks pretty big, and it has the HUD. I can't see anything in MyAudi, nor can I see Audi Connect in the car MMI.

Not sure if this is an old version?

Not sure if I need to be verified, or activate Connect somehow? Read something about a 10 digit vehicle code? But that comes on a tag with the car when new?

As far as the LED pack, I love the look of them in the door cards, so subtle I didn't notice it till yesterday! And there are lights in the door handles activated by the coming/leaving home functions, but the interior lights are a yellowy colour so need to get that looked at sharpish!

Mine is March 2014 and all LED , Door Cards strips, Roof lights front and rear, Under seat (rear) , Footwells (front) Red door handles (inside), Puddle lights (under the 4 doors), 4 x Outside door handles down lights ,
I got my Fog lights or what every they call them on the 7 converted to Cornering lights on VCDS, but can still be used as fog lights .. And as mentioned above the need sweeps...

Where would I find an OBDeleven? Ive googled it and it came up with one on fleabay, but not entirely sure it was the right thing I was looking for?

Most have the nice white lights, but the lights in the roof in the front and rear look a little yellowy. Not sure if this may have changed over time (it has 57k on the clock), wouldn't have thought so, but it doesn't matter as I'll get them changed myself

OBDeleven, you can get from ebay or direct from the manufacturer https://obdeleven.com/en/ - I believe they are in Lithuania. Get the pro version. There is a forum too http://obdeleven.proboards.com/. I managed to get the dongle second hand and oddly a free Pro upgrade from someone on the forum who had accidently ended up with 2 licences. You also need Android - it doesn't work on IOS.

When you enter your VIN, the OBDeleven app knows your car and which APPS will work, so it really is a one button press to make a change. If you have Android, download the app now from the Play Store. You will need credits to make changes (10 or 100 depending on the APP) - you can buy credits or get 6 free a day (one for opening the app and the other 5 for briefly opening adverts), so if you install it now by the time the Dongle arrives you'll have plenty of credit - I'got 431 on mine now lol . Also you can have a play and load your car details in and set up an account and see what APPS work with your car. All the obvious ones are there, but OBDeleven also runs diagnostics and can also do all the coding changes that VCDS does.

Awesome, sounds good! Thanks for the advice! I asked my Audi mate yesterday about the SIM Slot and Audi connect, and if I have no SIM then no Audi Connect. At least I can stop looking for something now. Never had Connect before so I'll never know what I'm missing

Nope Mine are Pure White, Maybe Previous owner swapped them over before Selling it...

I've looked for screws (like the A4 behind the sunglasses holder) but I can't see anything. Any idea how these are dismantled before I break something? It really is letting the interior down

I like you are new to the A7, and i've struggled to find much info about modding then so just cracked on myself.

I got mine @ the end of november, mines a 2013 63plate with techpack high as in wide screen nav touch key pad hud and google earth..i also have the sim card slot and have a 3 3GB sim card in it for google earth ( which i hardly use )

Ive registered on myaudi to,i like you look @ doing the nav update but i couldnt find it anywhere on there that aloud me to download any updates???

I have done quite a few mods and will get my *** in gear to do a thread...

Only today i attempted the S TRONIC gear knob swop, all worked great but after installing my new knob it appears my S TRONIC knob is faulty as even thou i did everything right my button refused to spring out no matter what i did...so its in bits and the old knobs back on...

Look forward to reading that thread! Looking to learn all I can!

I'm not gonna mod mine massively (mainly due to money constraints), just some subtle stuff to bring it up to date a bit (though I was trying to justify the investment in a Superchips Bluefin earlier today). I really like the look of the A7 BE as it is. I have some hubcentric spacers (10mm F, 15mm R) that are currently on my A3 that I may look at putting on.

FINALLY I managed to get the light console cover off (was just a bit more adventurous with my prying tool!) Apologies for the poor pictures, just did it in the pitch black with a phone camera..

Only really needed the long(ish) nose pliers to get the small bulbs out of the main console (couldn't get my fingers in there to grip them enough)

Some of the bulbs I had in the garage from a previous spending spree

50/50 old and new in the rear light cluster (this was easy to pry out, then each bulb was in a carrier that needed a twist to release it)

And re-fitted..

All in all a 10 min job max. So glad I've managed to do it now

Beautiful....congrats and enjoy. The A7 is a gorgeous big bus.

Just a quick post on a small mod done, picked up from vwaudi forum members..is the (I think) upgrade washer jets. These change the 3 pronged spray head to the 'fan' version that covers the whole screen. No more spraying the car behind you or pedestrians!

Part numbers are

4G0955987A & 4G0955988A. One left hand, one right hand. These are for the A6, but direct replacement for the A7 too. Cost just over £20, and a 5 minute job (if that). Bargain!

Here is a link to the post on the other forum, go give them some thanks for bringing it to our attention

A few updates since I last posted.

Engine bay was in need of a freshen up. Dirt and grime everywhere

Both nearside door handle LED lights had failed. Not really surprising when I got them out. £15 ea from Audi for the new parts.

Most awkward bit was getting the handles to fit back on the metal inner latch in the door. Not sure exactly how I managed to get it to work, but it did. Now the drivers side look a bit dull :grief:
