Hi All,

So I picked up my brand new S4 on Friday (don't worry I will be uploading pictures soon ;)) and I just just wanted to give my first impressions, just incase anyone is interested and thinking about buying one! I have had it for days now and long enough to give a mini review!

1) The interior - the interior is just something else! The super sport seats are amazing and the leather is really soft and comfortable. I read a few reviews where people mentioned they were uncomfortable but they are anything but! To me, after test driving about 15 cars before buying the S4, the interior is what did it for me and made my mind up. It is far ahead of Mercedes and BMW imo, even with the recent refreshes for both manufacturers with the E-Class and the 5 series.

The VC is amazing and really easy to use. It seems overwhelming at first but then once you've fiddled with it for a bit it all makes sense. I am not sure I could ever go back to analogue. At times I still struggle to see how fast I am going when I have it in full maps mode but I have kind of got used to that.

2) The performance - obviously with it being brand new I am not going to thrash it but I have had a few blasts and its blisteringly quick! It is scary how quick it gets to 60 and then some. I joined the motorway from a slip road and I looked down and noticed how fast I was really going without noticing!

What I love about it is that not only can it perform but it is also really comfortable when you slip it into comfort mode for a relaxed drive. The car is so quiet and the suspension is actually pretty soft for an S car. To me this is what makes it a perfect daily.

3) The gearbox - again, I have seen some mixed reviews about the auto but I think its great, it changes gear exactly when you expect and it is extremely responsive especially in dynamic slipping it down into 'S'. Even in efficiency mode it still doesn't lag, which again is something some people have reported on. I have always had manuals so this is my first auto so perhaps maybe my experience in auto trans is limited, still I love it though.

4) Economy - surprisingly, it isn't too bad. Even when giving it a few blasts I am averaging 28 for long term and a few journeys to work on A & B roads give me around 32 mpg in the short term memory. Then again, I didnt buy it to be frugal but decent economy is a bonus

Overall, it's an amazing car and I really do love it. I think I made the right decision and it's a car I will feel more than comfortable with for the next few years. One thing I have noticed too is that it is a real head turner. It gets a lot of attention when I am driving about! If you're thinking of getting one, just do it haha!

Glad you’re liking it, I’ve had mine 4 months now and still love it for its style, performance, practicality...pretty much everything you need in a car...amazing!

Enjoy the miles, it just gets better once run in!

Yeah I keep hearing it just gets better as more miles are on it. I struggle to see how it can get better than it already is lol! I feel like it’s an ocasssion every time I get in it. To be fair though this is my 4th Audi and I’ve always loved them so I expected it to be quality but this is in a completely different league. Luckily I live in a rural(ish) area so everyday I can enjoy it rather than sitting in stop start rush hour traffic!

How has your mpg been since you bought it? Has it gradually improved?

I haven’t really taken much notice of the mpg to be honest, just fill her up and enjoy!

Mostly drive in dynamic with the odd flick down into ‘S’ mode, I had gotten around 38mpg on a long trip down south.

I also live rural in Norfolk so lots of nice B road blasts and the handling is just amazing for a biggish car. I opted for the sport diff and adjustable dampers which are a great addition, what spec did you go for?

My spec is mythos Black paint, 19” 8.5 diamond alloys, red brake calipers, comfort and sound pack, privacy glass, piano black inlays, extended lighting and 4 ring door lighting. I think I’ve specced it quite well with more than enough. Did think about the sports diff but the Quattro is more than enough and it’s not like I’m going to be taking the car to it’s limits all the time
