New TQS Owner & Project

Evening folks,

Can anyone advise how to remove the drivers side seat belt?

Since I bought the car the seat belt has always been a little reluctant to coil back into its stowage and quite often just gathers by the bottom of the door - ****** annoying

I though I'd inspect the belt housing to see if it just needs freeing up or if a new (2nd hand) belt is required.

Cheers.

B pillar trim has to come off which means the upper roof holding trim either side of the b pillar are best being removed also. I'm not sure about the sill trim on the inside, it may also need to come off. I think it's all accessible with the seat in place, just slide it back and forth as required.

yeh B pillar trims need to go. Be VERY careful with the upper trim or you'll burst it. The clips are stronger than the plastic :(

Evening chaps, been a while...

Whereabouts is the outside air temp sensor located on the b5?

Cheers.

Might be in front of the rad/aircon rad. It is on the c5

Evening chaps,

Another ‘where’s this located’ question - where abouts is the Crankcase pressure breather valve located?

Cheers

Evening all, as I had a few hours to myself this afternoon I thought I'd change front & rear discs and pads.

With it being such an easy OEM+ 'upgrade' I took the opportunity to do the 312mm front disc conversion.

I used Mintex discs all round and for rear pads. Front pads are Ferodo DS2500.

I still have a mechanical 'whirring' sound coming from the back axle when I apply the brakes - must be a wheel bearing.

For anyone who's interested in the 312mm upgrade - it was relatively inexpensive. For any TQS owner you just need the bigger discs (for a b6) and some Mk1 TT/S3 carriers. All in it cost me £150.

Would this work for a non turbo 1.8? Reason I want to do it is mine is usually carrying roof box loaded up and a load in the boot. So when breaking it doesn’t feel to good.

In addition to all the parts listed above you’ll also need the calipers from a TQS as well. I’m sure they’ll be another VAG platform you could utilise the calipers from - Mk1 TT or equivalent aged A6. Iirc the AFN 1.9TDi calipers might work but not 100%.

A decent set of pads can make a lot of difference

So b6 disks mk1 to carriers and tqs calipers? Do all the b6 models use the 312mm disk or were they from the 1.8 turbo?

Also forgot to ask in the last reply lol, what is the back box your using? Is it standard one for the turbo or is it after market? I need a new one as it’s falling apart and I’m not keen on the standard oval pipe I’d like the twin pipe exit.

Yeah, 312mm discs, Mk1 TT carriers or carriers from 8P S3 and TQS calipers. But like I said I’m sure calipers from other models were shared with the TQS - Aragorn is all ‘gen’d’ up on this. Oh, you’ll also need new brake hoses as the ones you have currently fitted aren’t compatible with TQS calipers.

I might even have a set of TQS calipers and the right brake hoses (brand new) knocking about as I collected all this stuff we I had a non-turbo a few years back if you’re interested?

As for exhaust - standard stainless on the TQS. If you wanting something a bit more aesthetically pleasing just got for either a new back box or, if you can get away with it, twin exhaust tips.

Yeah I’m going to get a back box for a turbo so I get the twin pipes. Let me know how much you want for the tqs calipers and hoses and I’ll speak to the boss as everything seems to have to go through the lady of the house lol.

Well, this thread is a surprise. I have literally bought this exact A4 TQS about 4 weeks ago, X578 ADF. Looks to have been slightly neglected since the OP first got hold of it. But I’m currently doing jobs on it to turn it around into it on the road hopefully next month. Don’t know if MaverickTDi is a very active member on this forum, but would be interesting to have a chat about this car.

I’ve always wanted one of these 1.8t Quattro Sports, back when I had an A4 1.6 about 15 years ago. I was just looking at wheel options on these cars, and was shocked to find a picture of the exact car, lol. Good to know the owner was a member on here with this car.
