I’ve got some Eibach springs for my 2011 S3 sportback that need fitting. I’ve been quoted £216 to fit them by the independent Audi specialist I use in London. Sounds a bit steep to me just for the fronts, what do you think?
Any advice much appreciated.

I had a full set of springs and shocks, front and back, fitted to my Mk1 Leon Cupra R few years ago for about £130.
Different cars I know but similar suspension construction so I’d say that’s very steep just for front springs.

For a competent garage with proper equipment, that's an hour's work at most. I've done it on my drive with axle stands in around that so I know it's a doddle of a job.
There is also tracking to do and I assume that's included in that price?
A proper 4 wheel hunter alignment is around £60
I'd be paying no more than £120 with a proper alignment

Thanks for that guys, he didn’t mention tracking, I was however gonna get the hunter aligngnement done separately afterwards(I don’t think they have a hunter) as I’ve also just had tyres all round.

I would charge £100+VAT for that.

What’s the Audi specialist and whereabouts?

I’m booked in at awesome gti to have 4 shocks and 4 springs fitted plus wheel alignment £199

They are McPherson struts and easy to do, the book time is 2.5 hours for all 4 corners with alignment.
An A4 on the other hand is multi link and a pita to fit. Phone them up again and with knowledge and see what they say.

Thanks for that had another quote for £120 from a reputable tuner which is a bit more like it. I’ve heard I should let it ‘settle’ before doing the alignment. Is this true or can it all be done together?

It may take a few months to settle so I'd be inclined to have it done at the same time as a temporary measure tbh.
I think my H&R's dropped a further 5-10mm over 4 months so not night and day difference

When I fitted mine I had the alignment done and they let me bring it back free of charge after 1k miles for a check and adjustment if necessary.
Good quality springs like Eibach or H&R are pre form heated and tempered so will barely differ from the day they are fitted and through there service life.
