Help..... Rs3 or B8 RS4

I am told that Dynamic adds less to the used value than Pan Roof, Tech pack and B&O. Maybe it's different in different parts of the country. My ols S3 (similar spec) booked at £22K and sold at £32K in 2015 when 18 months old. It's all opinion!

Indeed it is......

Your issue is that you are asking retail money for yours and you’ll struggle to get someone to come along with 37k as a cash buyer.
Most buyers at this level will want to finance some or all of the car.

I had Standard sports seats (all electric mind) on the Mythos RS and I agree they were comfy, however the SSS I have now are better looking and just as comfy.

A dealer is going to want to make at least 10-15% on you, on a PX. They’re not happy just making money on the new car sales alone.

So I've been offered £33k px... They will retail at £36-37k . It has 5 year warranty no known faults , fully serviced, etc etc.... If I can't sell for somewhere in the middle I will px or may even keep it. Cheap Finance at Sainsbury, Halifax (PCP) and High Street Banks is cheaper than Audi but needs a bit of work. Audi have agreed to value a px and move it on if I sell privately.

What are all the 'right' options on an RS3 as per your signature. You need sporty exhaust surely as FL RS3 sounds much quieter than PFL RS3 !

Oh dear

The old it’s worse because it doesn’t pop on the downshifts.......

Seriously though.....it’s not an issue at all for me, might be for others though.

If your being offered 33k px value then surely that must be against something ?
I spoke to the guy that bought my Golf R and he said on yours he would give 31k and be looking to retail it at 34k.

Ah ok thanks. I know that Audi tech we’re doing something when cars came in for servicing, but I thought it was software upgrades that toned down the exhaust note somewhat....
It was for cars that had the exhaust valves stuck permanently open eg it closed them at just over idle etc as the factory standard cars. As you say software update.

Why are people hating on RGB, we are all entitled to price our cars for sale as we wish. All personal opinions re options are just that.

No ones hating anyone TX.

It’s just opinion that’s all.

I just offered up a comparison because the RS3 I sold in June was comparable in spec and I know how much I got and how much it went for at an Audi dealer.

Thanks TX ... was feeling a bit attacked by folks who think noisy exhaust trumps Pano Roof... As I have said consistently it's opinion and WTF!
I suspect it is ex BMW drivers getting arsey! Oh by the way that's just opinion !

Fair play mate, we all like and spec different things with our cars and all other walks of life. Just imagine how dull and boring the world would be if we all liked and agreed on the same things.
You would get 38k all day long if it had SSS and sports exhaust RGB:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

As I said earlier, I genuinely hope you get your asking price. It will mean that values of the PFLs are holding up well.

Thanks... given the PX offer it surely isn't unreasonable to expect to get 5-10% more privately.

Well despite the differences of opinions on the price, I guess the next few weeks will prove one way or the other.

And if its doesn't sell ............you can always blame it on Brexit!

Good luck with your sale mate. The trouble with these forums is that what is written down may sometimes be taken out of context and said person reading threads can take what is wrote a different way. I added those emojis mate to show I was joking on the last part but like as been said before if they are still going for strong money regardless of specs that is always a plus I suppose.

Brexit does indeed have a lot to answer for. We need to reflect... why are we being led by a bunch of incompetent BMW and Jaguar driving Muppets to a world where most of us will be poorer!

I beg to disagree! It is purely a matter of taste and responses will clearly depend on what you bought and trying to justify that decision.
I went into some detail deciding on options before making my factory order RS3 having previously had an 8V S3. My dealer will confirm that I tried every possible permutation of options before making an order and for me I deliberately chose not to have SSS as I found the standard sports seats in the S3 and RS3 to be more comfortable and offer better vision. If they were standard I would have of course had SSS as they are on RS4 but absolutely pointless expenditure. The standard RS3 are nothing like 'normal S-Line', my late wife had one in 2015/2016 and they are a million miles apart in feel and support. As for Mag ride and Exhaust. The exhaust may be a tad noisier if that's what you want but Mag ride in my opinion is pointless. As you will see I have pretty much very other option and although finances do come into the equation if I had wanted Mag Ride and SSS I would have had them. Clearly many other people will agree and others will disagree so lets just agree the PFL RS3 is a great car and mine advertised on PistonHeads could be a much loved bargain for someone.
No justifying here I sold mine just what I’d want if I bought another good luck with the sale and look forward to seeing the rs4 hope it’s panther black this time

Cheers , no Panther , I'm not a fan of Brown
Panther isn't brown! I have Panther and it's stunning...makes other blacks look pretty bland. It has a purply tinge to it but only in direct sunlight. Other than that it just looks like a very deep black.

Well there’s no denying the fact that any person looking to spend a decent amount of money on an RS3 will look for one with the most amount of options. Yes you may have specced your car to your liking but not everyone will like your car which will make it harder to sell privately.
And your logic is?

Sorry... couldn't resist a wind up re Panther. I love Black cars, have had several- Phantom and Mythos- not keen on Panther... again personal choice. Was tempted with Nog Blue or Merlin Purple for RS4 but keeping low profile.

Panther black looks amazing in full sunlight. Pops and sparkles like mad. I actually like the slightly purple-y hue.

Now that’s hearing aid beige

And your logic is?

My logic is If you’re going to spend £36,975 on a almost 2 year old rs3 with 16+k on the clock it most better have the Super sports seats, mag ride + sports exhaust. And you might be thinking why ? Well in your opinion those options may not bother you but in the eyes of a buyer that may be the most important features they could be looking for.

Super sports seats finish of the interior and make it more of an RS product (also include electric lumbar adjustment). Magride makes the ride much for softer (in comfort) and also firmer (in dynamic) especially being on 19’s. And as for the exhaust, you buy an rs3 for the engine alone so why would you not want to hear the engines maximum potential for an extra grand.

That’s my logic.

The only 'free' RS Colour. Not for me thanks, reminds me of 'hearing aid beige) popular in the 70's.

Ah but all the other colours can be spec'd by anyone for a few hundred notes... bum basic A3 driving around in the same colour, no thanks!

Yeh right! Nando's is so last year and if your RS is that colour no one will want it especially if it doesn't have Privacy glass .

I was looking for a rs4/rs5 but after i read about all the owners who had to change their clutch after 30k+ miles for a small fortune i went with the rs3. The rs4 is also i real fatass, slowest of the 3 germans with a V8 (m3 and c63) and you have to rev it over 6k to get it going which results in terrible fuel consumption for a daily driver.

It may well be your logic but with a long options list others including me think differently. As TX suggests opinions are like aresholes!
