Do you remember........................

Wow! You musta been a rich kid? My Dad's 73 and he's never had a new car. :glee:
Ha ha, nope, council estate kid me. He had 3 Mini 850's then 6 (yes SIX!) Metro's which were total guff. Thereafter I started to go with him and make sure he broadened his horizons lol

I'm not aware if your grandpa is still with you but it makes me smile to see what he'd think of your amazing S3 & TT Conpared to the cars pictured. Both generations of car are world appart and equally wonderful in their own right. I'll bet he'd love your two cars just as cub as you loved his.

Thanks for the pictures.

He's long since left us I'm afraid but I always fancied tracking down the old '38 Ford to see if it's still doing the rounds. When he gave it up, the car club asked him along to drive it round the show ring at its first car show.
Even the Dormobile, which in hindsight is a bit whacky by today's standard, was amazing with its gas cooker, sink, double bed, no rear seat belts etc. I'm sure there were only 2 in Scotland at that time.

I'm sure the tech and performance of my current cars would be lost on him but when I got my first car, afive year old '82 Mk5 Cortina, he made sure he bought me a new set of decent tyres to replace the four different remoulds (remember them) it came with.

Christ I'm welling up here :tearsofjoy:

It'd be really interesting to see/hear what came of those two cars.

Dad owned a Mk5 cortina. A 'crusader' too (arc as me???)

Yes, re-moulds!!! Yikes, thank goodness they have gone eh?

I'm certain he'd have loved the way new cars like yours drive and handle. I love old cars but I also apprecaite the latest ones. They keep getting better and better regardless what people say.

Thanks for sharing your memories. I enjoyed reading them.

And it's good to 'well up' every now and then. It's what makes us human.

Ant.

What about the truely awful 'Prisioner Cell Block H'?

And speaking of police detective dramas, 'Dempsy & Makepeace' with the beautiful Glynis Barber? My childhood crush.

I'm 44 btw. Born in 73 and remember 95% of these. However, body feels old but mind is young, that's all that matters guys.

That means you will remember Kickstart then, loved that show. Trying to copy it on a BMX was not quite the same.

What about Superstars (Brian Jack etc).

Whilst trying to erase the despicable Stuart Hall from my memory, It's a Knockout too. I actually went to one with my parents in Kings Park, Stirling must've been late '70s

On the toy front, Matchbox Models of Yesteryear
I collected them from around 6 years old and still have a decent collection of around 90 of them in a big box somewhere and all bar one of them in it's original box.
