Heyyya guys.

So I collected my lease today with 9 miles on the clock.. just for anyone who doesn't know, it's the A4 S-Line S-Tronic 1.4 Tfsi.

Specs:

Diamond cut 18 inch alloys
Technology Package (std)
Reverse camera and Hill Hold Assist

So far apart from the horrible lag and the super strong alloys, the car is very perfect. The lag only lasts for the first 20-30 miles so once you put it on the motorway, it does become a lot more responsive and lag free.. Just part of the initial run in period i guess!

The car is very quiet, and very honestly a very nippy motor for a 1.4.. you could never tell it's a 1.4 tfsi sitting under the hood sort of good.. picks up speed very smooth and the s-tronic once it starts to bed in works a dream.. snappy quick and only bettered by the Zf box in the BMW's.. All I can say is that you won't need to worry about it being a slow car haha it's very well suited to the A4..

MPG i can't really give a verdict on as it's done only 100 miles and avg'd 30mpg.. very mixed driving, heavy foot as well as cruising.. talking of cruising, if you do a lot of motorway miles, you will love the 1.4 tfsi.. it cruises easily at 70-80 without any bother at 1500rpm or thereabouts. very comfortable and the audi sound system does more than the job for my genre of music (hip hop)

Also I did ask about the delays for black editions as requested by a member. There is indeed a major delay with the BE rotor alloys so they were not recommended by him till they could sort it out to which he had no eta.

any other questions are welcome but bare in mind it's only got 100 miles so i won't be able to go through everything so soon :)

PS - virtual cockpit is an absolute dream to use.

Congrats, the car looks great! If I'm stopped at a turning or a roundabout in Dynamic I often stick the box in Sport in advance, the response is much quicker. Hope that helps, and enjoy the motor!

Ive kept it in comfort but my gearbox was in Sport majority of my journey home and i didnt realise! Apart from holding revs and responsiveness does it make any major differences? Everytime i was setting off, the car would shoot forward but i put that down to the car being brand new and engine not setting in yet

Congrats! I own a 1.4 manual. Really love the car so far. The only thing i regret is not getting the tech pack - but I would've had to wait until a Feb delivery if i had picked it !

Thanks everyone! & i think the lag is down to the car not being bed in yet. It did get better with the journey but driving through london with it wasnt the best of my experiences havaha

The tech pack is a dream. Best option on the car without a doubt

Congrats on the new car @Syed Shah looks awesome!

I too have the 1.4 but manual in the Avant and after nearly 1000 miles I agree that it's a cracker! My mpg currently averaging 35 in mixed driving but I've seen 45 on a run. Plenty power and great cruiser - the lag does disappear as it runs in and you get used to the driving style

Tech pack is amazing and really makes the interior 110%

Can't wait for my couple of weeks off at Xmas/New Year to really play about with it haha!

Oh and my broker says that BE orders are still being delayed despite the offer of an alternative wheel. Order now and you'll be lucky to see the car in June/July!

Thank you pal! I have nothing planned for now till january when i take it up north for a few days.. will properly bed in on the way there so it should be just fine. Tech pack is the pick of the bunch, wireless charging and that virtual cockpit makes it a dream to use!

Yeah i thought so about the lag! It went down considerably as the journey went on so it could only get better haha

Not a problem. I will update as the car goes on tbh. Once its fully run in i could give a better insight

Sport should put the engine mode into dynamic. I have actually gotten used to the lag now, I now drive with the mode set to auto which gives dynamic mode if it detects a greater push of the throttle pedal.

Hmm i think i might just stuck in auto. I kept it on comfort which was fab for me bar the lag

It works for me but can't guarantee it is to everyone's choice. It will automatically change the steering feel as well...

Thanks for the review and a bigger thank you for remembering to ask about BE delays. Much appreciated.

I still have the option of cancelling my order (FOC) up until provisonal build date of 12th Feb so if I see a good deal on a stock car between now and then I will consider.

Car looks lovely. Glad you're over the moon with it my friend.

Ant.

Not a problem mate. He did say that the delays were quite bad and didnt reccomend specing them at all.. so the choice is yours though if youre in a rush i would switch to just a normal s line and not black edition.

But thanks a lot mate. Lovely motor indeed

Thanks for that; it explains what I thought was happening yesterday when playing with the modes........also a good reminder for me to actually bother reading some of the manual!
