Hi all,

As it starting get colder and ice is now starting to appear has anyone had issues with scrapping ice of the windscreen when having to lift the wipers. The issue I found is I can't lift them without them hitting the bonnet to be able to get to the ice. Do I have to put the bonnet up every time I need to scrap the ice off, just seems bit daft or is there something up with my bonnet fitment?

Also on a side note does anyone get filled with dread when a road gritter comes hammering towards them on the other side of the road?

There is an option in MMI to position the wipers in the middle so you can lift them to replace the wiper blades without it hitting the bonnet.

You’re welcome pal. I stumbled on it while having a play and just thought it was for easier access. It was only when I gave the car a wash I realised you couldn’t lift the wiper so.

Short cut - Turn ignition on, turn it off and move wiper stalk down (flick wipe). Wipers will go to service position.

Be very careful you don't do it though when the wipers are frozen to the windscreen!

Good advice - I did that on a B7 A4 years ago and the motor completely stripped the inside of one of the wiper arms! Luckily it was a company car though.
