MINE HAS DAMAGE TO THE CHROME GRILLE SURROUND, NO ONE WANTS TO SELL THE CHROME ONLY THE WHOLE GRILLE, BUT I NEED SOME ADVICE ON WHAT WILL FIT MY CAR

IS THERE A PARTS DEALER ON THIS SITE RECOMMENDED AS I AM ON THE LOOK OUT FOR ONE OR TWO OTHER BITS

no I haven't, looks like ill have to buy the whole grille, at least it will be a bit cheaper than the s line one that seems to be double the price

I'm keeping it std for now, spent a lot on mods on my old celica , but I'm happy with std for now on this car. a bit of cosmetic work and its a mint car.
might need it tuned or remapped though, its heavy on fuel

very straight forward answer for you chap, yes it is an SE bumper so grille will be a standard non s-line part.
The surrounds are detachable but not available as a spare part so you would need to order a complete grille assembly, unless you found a cheap used grille with a decent surround and used that.
As it's a standard non s-line grille there are plenty aftermarket grilles that will make a suitable replacement at a fraction of the cost of a new OEM part.

thanks, do you know if it is easy to remove and replace the chrome surround or does it damage it?

a word of caution , to change the grille you need to remove the whole front bumper , there is no other way i'm afraid so be prepared.

as above, bumper off to remove grille assembly , surround can be removed by very carefully releasing the locating tabs located around all the sides, be carefull as they are not really designed to be removed so can break.

had this issue on a previous car, and ended up damaging some solid plastic lugs which clipped to wings, is there anything to watch out for when removing bumper. (I guess this is why a lot of traders want to sell the whole front end complete

It can be as easy or as difficult as you make the job, a bit of a long reply to type now chap but look on line or on this forum as there are quite a few you tube vids now that show the removal process much clearer than reading a thread.
Normally refitting can be an issue with getting the gap even along bonnet etc as the bumper adjusters get seized and you cant raise or lower the bumper to get the gap just right, not a massive issue and can be resolved with new adjuster or just doing a botch with them.
Anyway , more of an awkward job than difficult.

ok that helps, so if I cannot adjust gap, needs new adjusters. ill check you tube, thanks for the heads up

If it's the v6 3.0 tdi and you eventually want to change the front bumper with standard s-line you'll have to trim down the intercooler scoops otherwise it won't fit on. If it'd the 2.0 tdi then there's no problem - straight swap
