Probably early days but what have you done to your car?

I really want to black out my chrome on the S5,

intrigued if anyone else has done anything including coding, retrofitting etc

I've got an A5 coupe and all I've done so far is install a tuning box and fit a dash cam.

I will be blacking out my chrome as well doing the same as what others have done in this thread: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/black-window-trim-grill-inlays.331808/

I'm also looking to fit a boot lip spoiler as user Maxb92 has done : http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/gallery/photos/8628/

My to do list:

- De chrome
- Needle Sweep coding (Waiting for Carista to support the new models as they support using the ELM OBD dongles)
- Boot Lip spoiler

How much are you paying for the de chrome?

I've had 2 quotes so far, one at £150-£200 and another at £300-£360.

I'm paying £100 for the window trim and the chrome on the lower front and rear bumpers.

Most quotes I got were around £180 just for window trims but I friend of a friend is doing it cheap.

£150 is cheap if that is for everything. I'm not having the grille done or wing mirrors.

What's the needle sweep? Is this on a virtual cockpit?

Please share full before and after pics of the de chrome

guess my quotes aren't too bad then, right now I've not included the wing mirror either. I've just asked for the lower front bumper, grill, window trim

Will do, won't be getting the de chrome done until mid October so theres a bit of a wait.

Needle sweep just makes the dials look fancy, normally on start up only the rev dial moves but with needle sweep both the rev and speed dials move.

Standard start up:

Just checked and my s5 does the dial sweep as standard.

I’ve done the dechrome and the spoiler I’ve ordere will arrive Tuesday ... hopefully on by the end of next week once it’s been painted!

Did the needle sweep a few weeks back with carista but at the moment that's all I can do, looks like you can do so much more with the right programming tool.
Would like the passenger mirror to tilt in reverse, lane departure, and front camera to pick up road signs speed limit.

Ah I tried connecting carista to my car and the app popped up with message saying something like this is a car currently under development if you would like to enter the beta program you can" do you know if your son is using the official Carista dongle? And if he's apart of the beta program?

Do you have the part number for the spoiler?

Yes he is a beta tester for Carista, but it's very limited at this time until further software is released which is in the making.
Would like to program
Mirror tilt
Lane assist
Auto main beam
Road sign recognition
Looking at another forums all above is possible if you have front camera

A little late to the party here but Ive had all mine dechromed. Ive got a daytona grey S line Sportback. Cost 300 all in and that included having the mirrors wrapped in gloss black too. I'll stick some pictures up this afternoon if i can. Love it though made such a difference

Be interested to see the mirrors, I asked a company if they could do them, but I'm still waiting to hear from them!!!

Ohhh wish you hadn't posted that..that's another £250 I'm going to be spending lol.

Did it come in the gloss black? can't tell from the first pic.
How does it stick, tape or wet sealer?

It came in a dark grey colour ready to be painted, however I had my car de chromed in a gloss black wrap so I had the spoiler wrapped in the same material.

The official Audi instructions for the spoiler mentioned using sealant so something like Tiger Seal however I used 3M VHB tape and its worked very well.

I know how you feel, I wasn't planning on de chroming my car until some forum members did it to their cars. if you've not seen it the link to the thread is below, hope it doesn't make you spend more money :) lol

Thanks for the info ;) lol before I came back on here I thought about the spoiler, I'm thinking of having the roof and mirrors wrapped in gloss black and thought I could do the same with the spoiler.....haven't even got the car yet lol.

Links are dangerous for the bank account :D

Yep the spoiler is ok to be wrapped, just make sure you ask who ever does it not to wrap under the bottom surface as the sealant or 3M tape needs to be applied direct to the surfaces.

Where did you get these, how much and do they glue on the back?
Ebay mate, £30 3M tape :)

One of the lads over on the S3 forum got me onto them a few weeks back, he was happy with them so I got a set as well :) They look even better in the flesh, I instantly thought they felt heavier than expected as well, you can't use the very tip but it at least doubles the are that you can normally use!

I got them mainly for the look tbh, I have the flat bottom wheel so they go well :)

Just checked, alas the carbon finish do not fit 2017 S5. Do you know if metal are the only style that fits?

Me too, how difficult a job is that to do?

It requires at least the airbag removed to release the catches that hold the shifting paddles in

That's a dealer job then, how much labour do they charge? Where can you get the RS paddles, are they any longer?
