These are the new ones going on my car today, they should help with the high inside disk face temp.

Yeah mine finally turned up the other day, they are the same part numbers still let me know if anyone needs a hand ordering

@Arcam - Are you a track day regular? I was just wondering why you tinker with your brakes so often :)
 
If I recall from previous posts he is indeed a track regular! Novice opinion as a road only user, but the brakes and steering are PFL weak points and good places to start when improving IMO.

Like Doc said, I am a very regular track user and I over maintain my car.

I have just used another set of pads at the Nurburging last week so have taken the new back plates to fit as I have 2 days at Spa next month and brake cooling is even more important there.

Just read about an FL owner reporting Low speed squeal on his New RS3.

New style discs and at 600 miles.....

Do you know if the FL owner have the "new" disc? Have seen many FL RS3 who got their cars early this summer/autumn have those PLF disc... don´t know why but have seen that...

Well that's it.

No way I will consider a FL now.

I have put up with brake squeal and weekly pressure washing of my discs to surpress the issue, there is no way I will consider another RS3 to then have to put up with it for another 3 years.

It is disgusting that Audi have not sorted this - it totally spoils the ownership experience.

I was hoping that what appeared to be a new style of disc had sorted it, but it appears not.

So it looks like I will have to consider an Audi S3 / S4 or Merc A45 or C 43 AMG next but no way it will be another RS3 after hearing this.

I am sure we will start to hear from other FL owners now starting to experience the same.

Can't believe it was on the 8P, then 8V and now the 8V face lift - terrible !
 
Just change the pads Snake, that seems to be the source of the noise eg brake dust buildup.

I Agree TX

Had no issues on my fronts when I swapped to Ferodo DS performance pads.

But that’s another story
 
After multiple pad & disc replacements in my 1st year of ownership (for squeal & warping) I aint fitting none Audi parts.

If the discs were to warp again, there is no way Audi would replace them if I have none OEM pads fitted.
 
I've had the black beast for a good few months now and it hasn't squealed once. (15 plate)
I assume I have standard discs and pads.. Then again, am on 13K miles now - how long do these things last?
 
Had a call from Audi today re my rusty hubs. They are going to paint my rusty hubs as a gesture of goodwill.

Had my oil warning light come on too, so I'll probably get it serviced at the same time as it's due in a month or two anyway. Will also get them to check the car over. Seems ever so slightly clunky to me when downshifting at low speeds. I know it's all the 4WD/Haldex gubbins, but still feels a bit baggy to me.

How bad is the warping?
 
The stupid damper things Audi attach to the back of the calipers ,that shouldn't be needed (and that made absolutely no difference on my 8P RS3) but Audi installed on my PFL 8V RS3 at the last service when I moaned about the noise again seem to have very nearly completely stopped the squeak on mine.
 
I've just had confirmation that when my car goes in for a service in a fortnight that I've got a FL RS3 with sports exhaust for the day.

I'm genuinely interested to see what I think of it. I never have a blinded loyalty to a particular car I own so hopefully I will be able to give a fair opinion on how it compares to my PFL. It will also have a pano roof which is about the only option mine is missing.

I've also got a drive in an M4 tomorrow with rain forecast. It will also be interesting to see what that's like in conditions that the RS3 would revel in.

I had warping on a set of the 'wavy' discs.
These were replaced March this year with a set of optimised/ thicker circular discs.
This cured the warping, but the brake squeal still creeps in if I don't thoroughly pressure wash the discs once a week.
It is the pad compound Audi use which sheds loads of dust and sticks to the discs.
Loads of residue comes off when you pressure wash them.

I didn’t experience any squeal in the loaner I had, I did over 400 miles in that car (600 miles on it when I took it back).

I am tempted to look at different pads if I do get the issue, but will have to accept any warranty is then void.

I think I will pressure wash the discs as a precaution anyway.
 
I like the new front brake cooling ducts along with the extra inner ducts on the FL bumper, the new TTRS does not get them which is a surprise.

Ah, I don't get much brake dust on mine. How would I know if I have aftermarket pads on it?

Only if they are aftermarket. Any disc issues and Audi will blame it on your choice of pads.

“Well Sir, Audi Genuine Parts Pads would not have warped your discs”.

Which duct are you referring to?

Nr 2+3 goes together and is for the cooler only. Nr 1 maybe, as it channels air thru the bumper instead of around. This may help brake cooling a bit?

I´m surprised that it's missing the ducting on front underside of the inner fender as well as the ducting on the control arms. This was something that my old rs3 8p had.

Duct 1, it feeds through to the inner wheel arch outer edge.

TTRS gets them as part of the Audi Sport Performance Parts line.

Perhaps it is a TTS calliper as the kit is available for both TTS and TTRS, but more expensive on the TTS due to missing parts from factory I assume

Sounds reasonable, when specing a TTRS the Sports option is showing but on the detail tab it does not shown/mention the extra cooling.

Yes. I get a bit of squeaking everyday for the past couple of weeks. :/
Gonna wait a bit before a drop the car at the dealer to fix it. Hopefully it goes away when I´m now over the run in period (930 miles) and start to drive it more enthusiastic.

Drove the whole day today and didn't hear a squeak at all...

No squeal on my Facelift. I suspect not bedding them in properly. Treat them with varied braking from easy to hard.

Definitely NOT that !

Each new set of discs & pads has been run in to a specific procedure by the Audi Tech at the Dealership over approx 3 hours ... I had to agree to this 3 times now otherwise risk them saying exactly that.

When my car was brand new took approx 2 months for the initial squeal to kick so don’t jump the gun too soon, especially as some face lift owners have already reported squeal.

The RS3 brakes are $hi7 and let an otherwise superb car down.
