Hi everyone, first off, sorry if this has been discussed already (which I'm sure it has). I've used the search function but cannot find what I'm looking for.

I want to upgrade my turbo with either a hybrid turbo or a larger turbo. I don't know which route to go down regarding performance and budget. I've had a look on the old interweb and there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on hybrid turbos in particular. My current setup is 2.5" DPF back exhaust (non resonated). Remapped (no proof but its noticeably quicker than factory standard). I have the full Torque App and it runs 1.7 bar of boost at full load (its an 05 model 3.0tdi avant with a factory 204 bhp). I know that hybrids have a good bang for buck but fall flat at top end as the airflow isn't the greatest and i know that a larger turbo will take longer to spool but gives big top end grunt.

I'd be interested to listen to your personal experiences and suggestions to point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Hi! I've the same car. A4 b7 3.0 tdi 204cv ( bkn) manual . I have hybrid KKK BV50 , FMIC and reinforced clutch. With the same boost as your with only chip , until top end the car is like a rocket ship while before it slowed down quite a lot

I'm not familiar with 3.0tdi's in the slightest but I find allot of turbo swaps have the same characteristics of being better up top and the opposite down low which is why I'll probably stick to OEM with a map in future to (hopefully) get the whole rev range. Glad someone responded actually as this is one of my possible next cars (if mine ever dies) and I'm a sucker for go faster parts :playful:

Thanks for the response how do I find out my engine code? Will it be the same as yours given that its a 204bhp model?

Easiest place to find it is in the rear wheel well (take out the spare), it's also at the front of your engine bay (nearest to the bumper, may have to take the cover off not sure mines been off for years), also underneath the rear seats and in the book that came with the car, probably a few other places but that's just off the top of my head.
