So after a restless nights sleep it's finally here...collection day for my new S4 Avant!!!

Handover booked for 10am so up early to give the S3 a wash and make sure I'm prepared with all documents, keys etc.

Pics to follow once I've collected but spec of my car is as follows...

Daytona grey
19" V spoke alloys
Magma red interior
Carbon atlas trim
Privacy glass
Red calipers
Pano sunroof
Heated and electric folding mirrors
Comfort and sound pack
Light and vision pack
Adaptive sport suspension and damping control
Sports diff

I've taken the day off so I can get to know the car and build up those first 1000 miles to help with running in that sweet V6 with a longish drive to Nottingham at the weekend to give her a good drive and test the adaptive dampers in comfort and dynamic to see how she copes with our UK roads.

An exciting day ahead

Hi All

Sorry been out having fun today and getting used to the new beast!

Early observations are its a much nicer ride than the S3, no noticable lag when pulling out of junctions/roundabouts, seats are very comfortable, power delivery is very smooth (maybe too smooth for some as no real 'kick') and you can reach license losing speed without knowing it as it piles on the speed extremely quickly and effortlessly.

Oh and that glorious V6 and exhaust note is intoxicating and will ensure my MPG is woefully low! Haha

Tried uploading photos but not letting me as files too large, will sort out later this week!

Glad you're enjoying it. Mine arrived last week.

It's my first performance Audi and I love it.

I agree the exhaust note is intoxicating isn't it - seems a little incongruent with the rest of the car but who cares, it's a sound I tell my young lads they'll never get to experience for themselves unfortunately.

Well glad you're enjoying yours also.

I love the way the car looks understated but then that deep rich exhaust note takes people by surprise, it was one thing missing from the S3.

An early start this morning so experienced the matrix lights and the beautifully lit interior.

Wow, those matrix lights were amazing lighting up the dark and gloomy back roads on my trip through the Norfolk countryside.

The LED interior also amazing and the choice of colour scheme and brightness of said lights impressive.

Also tried the massage seat function, thought it a bit of a novelty but actually felt the benefit and looking forward to a few longer trips with those.

The steering is very different than in the S3 and needs a bit more input but it's a bigger car so just needs getting used to.

After the deluge of rain last night the car is no longer showroom shiny and waiting for my local retailer to confirm dates for his services including ceramic coating to bodywork and wheels.

So all good news so far and can't wait to get back in it later for the drive home.

Hi All

Just some rubbish iPhone pics I took at collection, doesn't really do the car justice and haven't got any interior pics yet, those magma seats and carbon trim is just stunning!

Car is filthy now but will get some better pics up once cleaned and some decent weather...could be waiting a while!! Haha

And the carbon trim, so happy I chose both and compliments the Daytona exterior so well...

I have magma red seats, they're awesome. When I told the wife the seats would be red, she replied "I'm gonna feel like I'm in some 80's porn film"... when she finally sat in them and was invited to de-robe, she politely declined and said "I take it all back, absolutely stunning"...

Yep they are stunning.

My wife was the same until she saw them to, she's been very complimentary about the car which is strange as doesn't normally say anything, must be a winner!

So a good drive over to Nottingham at weekend, about 120 miles each way and the car was a dream to drive.

Smooth and relaxing in comfort mode with the odd blast in dynamic for overtaking.

Car returned an impressive 32.6mpg but then I am driving steady during the running in but good to know this level of economy is possible for those long trips.

Massage seats were nice on the way over but not so nice on the way back with a slightly sore head and sensitive stomach from one to many beers.

Off to Bournemouth tomorrow so a good 4-5 hour trip, can't wait to get behind the wheel again.

After a nice clean today and a quick blast in the countryside...

@Riko0073 car is just simply awesome.
Aww thanks Sandra.

I was a little worried trading in for my S3 as that was such a great car but have to say this is also a great car and fits in with my current lifestyle really well.

It's scary how quick it is for a big car and the handling is amazing and does instill more confidence than my S3 ever did.

No regrets so far : )

I'm glad you have no regrets, yes the s3 is a good car, but sometimes you need a change. Just enjoy it. If it gives you smiles per mile then you got the right car for you. :)

Journey from oxford to Leeds yesterday was fantastic. Dynamic mode on the a34 felt like a racer and then comfort on the m1 with the odd blast to license losing speeds.

Can't wait to get back in

Thanks @Gary_LB I am loving this car.

The Daytona looks great and works well with both chrome or black pack.

Did you go for magma red leather also? I absolutely love the interior, the magma seats and carbon trim just sublime.

When is yours due to arrive?

Looking awesome, hope your still enjoying. I bet the service station knows you so well by now, lol. :) x
Still loving it Sandra!

Haha, it's not as bad as I thought but now I've run her in I am noticing the mpg has dropped a bit since taking her up the rev range a bit more ; )

Although still achieving an average of 27mpg with a mix of driving and 32mpg on a long run, I can live with that!

MPG looks to be pretty good considering the engine and size, weight of the car etc. I’m averaging 25mpg in my M235i and expecting this to drop in the S4 however more long runs than I do now may even that out

Car came with the front Audi ring projector door lights but standard in the rear doors, I had some Quattro lights I removed from the S3 which fit perfectly, I really like the 2 different logo's.

Did anyone else's come with projector light front and back as standard?

Think all the MY18 cars do!

Edit: Actually, I just checked and I only have lights on the front... Wonder why that is!

Not sure what the brochure says but on collection my salesman did give me a box with the standard door lights which they had obviously changed to the projector lights.

I'm not bothered as had the spare Quattro lights already.

I have another spare set as bought 2 pairs for my S3 which were only on there about 5-6 months, maybe I'll put up for sale.

What I meant is that I have the rings lights on the front doors but nothing on the rears... Surely it should be on both?
