What's this? a Audi Golf RS-R3?

Same here I would order one in a heartbeat if its not silly money.

Will never happen imho, no way will Audi allow it.

Yes VW is the parent company. They might do it, who knows. I imagine it would cost $50k++ in the US just based on the base cost of the RS3.

I am a huge Audi fan, if VW made this as apposed to Audi making the RS3 I’d go for it in a heartbeat.

I’m rather worried what Audi will do with the next gen RS3, 4 cylinder? :(

Maybe, it will still never happen.

I wouldn't be so sure. VW have been really left behind and need to do something. The R400 was definitely on the cards prior to dieselgate. I still think it's more likely they won't do a go faster Golf R, but not by much.

Knowing VW, if they do make the R-400, it'll cost more that the RS3. Yes, it'll probably handle better, but I never get VW's pricing on some of their cars. More so the options.

S3/RS3 leather seat standard. Supersport seats £750
Golf-R. Want leather? £1700 !!! Bonkers

I can understand why most Golf-R's have only cloth trim (apart from the price) as most are on cheap lease deals. But on a Golf R400, leather seats really want to be standard, as it'll be taking the P**s to have to pay £1700 for it.

My current issue with the RS3 is build quality.

Squeaky brakes / warped discs / endless rattles & squeaks etc.

The wife's TT on the other hand is 100% perfect & feels so solidly put together.

We previously had a VW Scirocco R for 5 years & that was faultless too. Just service & replace oil & tyres & that was it.

If there was a Golf R400 I would be interested in it too. It would be an incredible car & I would have faith in the build quality.

For whatever reason the Audi 3 seams to suffer from many gremlins as posted by so many owners.

I'm hopeful the FL RS3 will have addressed a lot of the issues though - the car has been out long enough now, there Audi 'should' have addressed & sorted all issues.

Can anyone tell me if those seven, twin spoke wheels available for the RS3?

Looks too artificial for me, I had no idea they were an option... looked like cheap’o standards to me initially.

Yeah cheap o chips......

Then again you’ve not got to worry about such things.....

No chance it will be more than the RS3. The Golf R is well equipped and attainable for £30k with discounts. The RS3 is £50k with the bare minimum of options. VW just couldn't get away with anywhere near £50k for a Golf, even a 400hp one. £40k is more likely.

I seem to have seen those seats quite regularly? Didn’t stand out as something so special to me tbh, unlike the diamond stitching on the super sports.

Blame me for not knowing the price list of the R

Yeah yeah.....whatever.

I forgot unless it’s an RS3 it’s crap.

I quite like them, certainly a big improvement on that tartan picnic blanket stuff they ruin the GTis with. Not worth £2.6k though.

I was considering the Golf R before I decided to shell out more for an RS3. I know all are MQB cars but paying $50k for a VW Golf just seemed wrong. This would naturally cost more so, no thanks. I'm not a brand snob but we've all been trained by marketing to a certain extent and that much money for a VW just doesn't feel right.

I must admit I despise the tartan GTi pattern seats too.

I think they do a mid range £600 or so 'leather look' upgrade on the GTi now though.

Cloth / alcantara R seats are great though.

VW leather upgrade prices have always baffled me too.

Given the new, lighter engine this would be a serious contender for me. Test drove an R recently and really liked it but the FL RS3 has something more about it with the 5 cyl engine. Hope I don't regret the FL order before I receive it. Those wheels are so much better than the rotors.

Same spec leather alcantra on the golf r is 2700 i think not 1700.

These options are for the R.

Yes but the nappa seats are equivalent to the standard ones in the Audi s3 and rs3. The Audi supersports seats are another level to the golf r seats. Those 2600 seats look rubbish too and I've seen them in the flesh they look awful

Woah, no need to get like that at all!

You couldn’t be more wrong, I am a huge fan of a Golf!! Somewhere buried away in this forum is a discussion where I looked to trade the S3 in for a Clubsport earlier this year.

I simply said I didn’t think those seats were a £2.6k option, they looked standard because the Carbon looks more like vinyl (is it?).

I don’t want to offend you, really you could not be more wrong here.. Golf’s are fantastic cars and when I sat in an R, it felt nicer than my S3.

Let me add I do also like those seats :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: It just took me by surprise they cost £2600!!!

After the vw bs they said they handed the r400 project over to Audi because of financial reasons recently a 5 pot Tiguan r has been seen so wouldn't rule out a 5 pot golf r

Yes they are a bit expensive, Not quite hilariously as a reasonable spec'd RS3 though... Or maybe just as bad!

Each to their own.

I like the seats that’s why I specced em.

Audi leather seats are by no means perfect either.....RS3 Sports Seats / SSS wear quite badly on the bolster....
Seen a lot that look terrible for their age when I’ve had people come for Coding Work.

On both my RS 3 ‘s 8P with buckets and the 8V seat bolster leather soon started to crease and go out of shape.

And I like them too, I am just surprised at the cost VW charge for them. Now I know, I can appreciate them some more when I see them.

Oh no I agree, they wear terribly and I hate shiny leather. Pretty much from day 1 the drivers bolster will crease if it hasn’t before you collect it. I’ve heard about the lower back of the SSS wear badly, because the material is thin apparently.

I try to be as gentle as I can getting in and out, it’s annoying because I have to get in and out a lot with getting the car out of the garage then getting back out to lock up.

Gyeon Leather Coat is great for adding a matt finish, lasts a good few months too.

It will be good to see more 5 pots in production

More proof of how poor Audi leather is

Oh wow that’s horrendous! Have you shown that to Audi? That should not happen!

Audi weren’t interested....

Said it’s wear and tear...yet 2 leather specialists I showed it too said that’s utter crap.

One of many reasons I got shut to be honest, Audi dealers just make the Brand worse.

Never again.

That’s horrendous. I’m even careful with how I hold the steering wheel to preserve leather and stop it from going shiny but personally I always drive with two hands on anyway.

I’m worried about the Alcantara in the FL, so much so that I’m looking at getting driving gloves (absolute willy I know). On my test drive last week, so many times I found myself clinging onto the wheel extremely tightly I know the alcantara wont last 5 minutes.

And I bet the best thing is, if Audi saw that on a car they took in... they would chip you for it.
