Hi Guys,

First post here, so i'll try and keep things interesting, but i'm also posting to this thread as a way of keeping a record of everything to do with the car order process, the dealership, any issues i'm having along the way, and anything else I think may be useful for anyone looking at getting an S1. Apologies if it's in the wrong place!

The Spec:
  • Audi A1-S1 [3 Door]
  • Sepang Blue
  • Painted Brake Calipers [Red with S1 Logo] (PC2)
  • Heated Front Seats (4A3)
  • High-gloss black styling package (4ZD)
  • Privacy Glass (4KF)
  • Satellite Navigation System - SD Card based (PNU)
  • 3 Spoke Leather S1 Multi-Function flat-bottomed steering wheel (2PF)
  • 18x7.5J '5 parallel spoke star S Design' alloy wheels (C0C)
My current order status is as below:
  • "orderStatus":"30","statusDate":"2017-09-17T19:34:33+0100"
  • "orderStatus":"24","statusDate":"2017-08-28T00:00:00+0100"
  • "orderStatus":"23","statusDate":"2017-08-26T00:00:00+0100"
  • "orderStatus":"22","statusDate":"2017-08-25T00:00:00+0100"
  • "orderStatus":"21","statusDate":"2017-08-24T00:00:00+0100"
  • "orderStatus":"20","statusDate":"2017-09-02T01:11:17+0100"

I ordered my car on bank holiday Monday, and the dealership (Stoke Audi) found me a dealership allocation car with the above spec, due to be built week 35, and gave me an estimated arrival date of 25-09-2017. Sadly, my car has been delayed.

I must say, communication from the dealership so far has been pretty poor, and a number of mistakes have been made during the process, which i'll be raising with the salesman when I pick up the car, or when I next call to chase up where the car is. This is echoed by colleagues who've all bought Audi's previously, mentioning that another local dealer has been better for them.

Welcome to ASN, and congrats on the S1 order - you've made a wise choice!

Sounds like a nice spec, and remember to post up plenty of pics for us fellow S1 owners to see.

Thanks Spike, i'll be posting photo's when I (finally) take delivery of the car, though I literally have no idea when that will be...

Any recommendations on rubberised bootliners? (I work in industrial environments, don't really want crud covered steel boots, and hard hat etc all over the boot of my new motor...)

I have the OEM Audi one in our car, and it really is a great job. Definitely recommend it.

Congrats on the order! Sounds like a good spec, very similar to mine except colour!

I think you can see the rubber boot mat on the Audi store page, along with all the other accessories for the A1 / S1 that they sell.

Just a quick update, after a lot of prodding at the dealership, still waiting on an update as to when I can expect my vehicle to be delivered. It should have been at the dealership this week (build week 35).

Has anyone else had their S1 delayed, if so, how much of an impact did it have on the delivery? Also, did your dealership give you a revised (though estimated) date? It's pretty infuriating not knowing when to expect the vehicle.

Thanks Spike, i'll try and get this quoted, +1'd, you've been more helpful than the dealership...

Another update in the saga, apologies if you guys don't want to be reading the bad news.

I've been on and off the phone with Audi UK to try and find out a rough estimate of when I can expect to collect the vehicle, and i've been told "do not expect the vehicle before the end of the month".

I purchased the vehicle (for which I have listed the specifications above) from a dealership allocation, in order to get a vehicle more quickly, due to work requirements, and needing to be on the road as a part of my working duties. The dealership were made very aware of this, and had members of family present to witness the conversations. The dealership did not respond to any of my emails requesting an updated expected date of arrival ( I was told on the day I put down my deposit to expect the car the W/C 25-09-2017, and then to expect the vehicle in the country "before the end of the month"). To add insult to injury, I had to call the sales person 2.5 weeks after I had emailed him asking for an update. To even further make things worse, the dealership sales manager did not respond to an email of complaint, which I sent about another (potentially quite serious) error made during the sales process.

I then spoke to the dealership principal on friday, who promised to call me back on Monday (this week) in order to give me some feedback on the above, and i'm still waiting for a call back.

I am now without a vehicle, without any idea of when to expect a car to use, and out of pocket due to me having to use public transport in order to "do my day job".

I'm getting pretty annoyed the contemptuous attitude of the dealership staff thus far, and i'm beginning to wonder who to contact in order to get some kind of answers, and an official apology.

This is my first brand new vehicle, and from a brand like Audi, i'd expect far better.

Any advice?

Cancel order would be my option plenty of dealers out there

Could you not do a search for a dealer stock car with your spec that they have on site and cancel order with existing dealer.failing that can't they be persuaded to loan you a car .

Order status 38 yesterday, order status 39 this morning, my car is on board EMS Highway en route to Grimsby.

I gave the dealership principal a hard time for the way they're handling the situation and now I genuinely think I've worried him. The dealership are now much more open with details and are proactively trying to speed up the process.

Exciting times ahead!

Good news guys, my car is now in port at Grimsby, and should be with the dealership next week, for me to collect before the weekend (fingers crossed).

If it's not too much to ask, if you guys have gone for a service plan, would you mind giving me a rough idea of what it cost you? I've been given a quote from the dealership, but it sounds pretty expensive.

Can't comment on service plan costs but my local dealers will price match any service work estimates so worth bearing in mind that you can have the Audi stamp without the headline cost

What's the cost of the service plan, and how long does it cover you for services?

I have to obtain quotes for services from independents that use Audi parts and then my local dealer will price-match. TBH as soon as the warranty period is up I will be using the local independent, my reasoning is if the local Audi dealer can't be bothered to offer a fair price before I do the leg work I'd rather use the respected independent going forward.

We've bought two Audi's from them in the past three years......

Circa 900 quid, sounds a bit bonkers to me, but for 4 years @ 15k miles per year. (My Discovery sport costs less...)

Yeah, i'm thinking the same, it's ridiculous.

Congrats, but we need more :sign pics:

How did the handover go? Any surprise gifts considering the poor customer service during the build period?

Thanks Spike, much appreciated

The handover went pretty smoothly, I spotted a few little dings in the paintwork, which they sorted on the day, but then I got home and noticed a nasty scratch on the passenger side of the centre console, and I think the dealership are trying to pin it on me. How I can possibly have caused damage on the passenger side when i'm the driver, is beyond me.

The dealership had included a bootliner, and a couple of key tags, along with a full tank of fuel, which was nice. I'm just waiting to see what they say about the scratches to the centre console next week... I'll keep you guys updated.

I'll post more photos when we get rid of storm Brian...

Until then, please accept this teaser, taken on my very own potato.

The car performs excellently, and i'm looking forward to sitting in the M6/M5 traffic on my way to a customer site on monday...
