I appreciate that this has been asked before. Any one worked their magic yet?

I can't fathom out why Audi wouldn't include this with the technology pack & virtual cockpit? £225 to have it included is a bit rich-especially when the front camera is there to facilitate it.

It's a crazy price. I've had all these things bundled for the last four years on my Volvo - had to take them in a pack to get the adaptive cruise control, which was the only thing I would actually pay for ;)

What's annoying is that although I'd not spend more than a tenner for things like lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition etc I will definitely notice their absence. Given that (like you say) the hardware is all there for them I think Audi are missing a trick not including them.

I'm not brave enough to try this until someone has translated it! It says parametrisation of the camera is required and it needs VCP to do it. Might wait lol

Wonder what the "Coding requires VCP for the parameterization of the camera!" means?

It was just a quick one off search through goole to see if it threw anything up...

Is all good, just did not want anyone to "base" anything on that second link due to its contents. Hacked / Cloned VCP works differently to Genuine and Genuine VCP as an application can actually be very dangerous to use if one does not know what they are doing.

More from Audiworld on this:
"Hi, I have also managed to activate this feature using OBDEleven.
I think it's the same coding that's been circulating on several Audi forums.
I am uploading a jpg I found on a spanish forum. I followed the exact same steps, but on my car, the first instruction was already activated. This could be because I have MMI Plus and it was already showing the speed taken from the navigation map in the lower right side of the MMI screen.

I must mention that I live in Eastern Europe and the car was bought from Germany.
The feature works like this: if you pass a speed limit sign, it will immediately show on the VC the speed limit, but if after a while it doesn't detect any new sign it will just take the speed limit from the navigation map (the one shown on MMI).
I have tested it on few roads that are under construction so the limit was lower than the one stored on the MMI navigation map and the car displayed different signs (VC was showing the sign that the camera detected and the MMI Navi showed the limit stored on the navi map).
Trying to upload a photo on a sector where I passed a 30km/h temporary limit while the usual limit is 50km/h. The quality of the picture is not that great but if you zoom on it you can see the two limits (30 on the VC and 50 on the MMI screen).

It would be cool if we could also activate the feature that shows also the "no overpassing" traffic signs.

Thanks for this-this is very positive. I wonder if the speed sign also comes up in the bottom right of the VC screen next to the temperature read out? Time to invest in OBD 11 :)

Thinking exactly the same. Is this stuff relatively simple?

I already did it a couple of times on the B9 and F5 (new a5). You need VCP to flash your Front Assist camera (module a5) and then code it. It will show up in your cluster (VC/NON-VC). Without VCP is not possible

So....can it be done with OBD11 then?
Vcp = vagcan pro

Coding can be done with obd11 but module flashing has to be done with vcp.

Anyone know of someone in the South Coast area who can VCP my S5? Got ODB11 and vagcom already!

I am in the process of getting this to work on a 2017 FL A3 I seem to have it working with the optical detection

Before because I had VC and HDD based nav I assume it worked of the nav database and possibly the traffic data as it would display changes on the overhead gantrys on the M25 but not a random sign down a farm track or the no overtaking

The one thing I don't have is any menu in the mmi under the car, driver assist menu from looking in the manual it seems there should be a menu labeled traffic signs has anyone who has used the coding dongle or had it from factory got this or know what is contained in this menu ?

Thanks

So it can be done on a non virtual cockpit despite earlier posters saying otherwise?

Cheers

It seems HazzyDazy can do the coding for £225 (+vat) and he makes no mention of having a virtual cockpit as a pre-requisite:

https://www.hazzydayz.com/traffic-s...8w-a5-8w-q5-fy-q7-4m---supply--fit-8492-p.asp

However he does state
Please note: Only Suitable for models with PR-QK1 Driver Assist Camera and Colour DIS

but i believe PR-QK1 already comes included on All A4s (as part of pre-sense). My A4 will already have a colour DIS but no Virtual Cockpit.

Yes, can be done on non-VC

VCP in this context doesn't refer to Virtual Cockpit, rather it refers to a VAGCOM/VCDS alternative called Vag CAN Pro.
