Dan's B9 S4 Avant Thread

In the meantime, here are some crappy iPhone shots. I'll take some slightly nicer ones later on my DSLR but the car hasn't been prepared by them at my request so it's good for being wrapped on the 11th and doesn't have too many swirls or anything. So it's a little dirty which you'll have to excuse.

Have a few things on the morning but I'll definitely get some up ASAP.

Only thing with the car is when I try to login to Connect so I can get google earth it says that the service isn't available. Anyone have any advice for this?

Have you tried the mmi reset?

Push up on nav/map and radio switch and press the middle mmi wheel

Did you consider just getting PPF rather than a wrap?

I did but they don't have pre-cut PPF for the whole car, it's only the leading panels. To get it custom done it was going to be something like £2500-3500 people were quoting!

I had this for a few weeks when I got mine as did a few others. One member said a full factory restore on the MMI of everything worked for them, which I did and it worked. Give that a go and see if you get any joy.

Love the car by the way, looks fantastic.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll give it a shot soon and report back.

On a different note, if anyone was thinking of getting the rail system in the boot of the avant then don't bother. Audi will sell you this option but don't supply the securing points for the net or any of the dividing kit. And don't sell it at all anymore I've been told!

So essentially I paid £200 for nothing at all, and something that now can't be used at all. Ridiculous work from Audi.

I had the issue : didn't reset - instead turned the radio module off and then back on. Sprang to life ..

What do you do for that?

Was in the connection settings... I'm away from car right now... data module (my mistake, not radio module)..

Thanks, I'll give that a shot if the reset doesn't work!

Further to my rant about the rail kit in the boot, I've actually found it! The dealer didn't even know it was in the car...

If anyone else has taken this option then the kit is in the underfloor compartment towards the front of the car from the spare wheel compartment.

So I retract my rantings directed at Audi...

Love the colour, looks superb, a strong colour if there is such a thing?
Loving mine, it's a great car indeed, the one thing I don't use much, is the BO sound system, the exhaust note sounds way better, 3,800 miles and haven't tired of it at all.
Flat bottomed wheel looks good, in practice I'm finding it cumbersome on tighter corners and feel a round one would be better, maybe I'll warm to it, although wish it was heated, I really miss that, people scoff at the idea, arthritic hands say otherwise.

Enjoy the car @Daggerit

That seems to have done the trick and it's accepted my 8 digit code and google and stuff is now working, thanks for the help!

Issue now is that on the myAudi site I can't get past the first page of the primary user form as it just hangs. So I cont use the Audi connect app or anything. Not the end of the world but would be nice if I could get it to work.

Also can't seem to get it to accept my vehicle code for some reason...

Thanks for that. I think with the black optics it definitely looks good. And as tends to be the way with these things, pictures never properly pick up the colour, it's got more depth to it with the naked eye.

I do find I turn the B&O down sometimes already. Especially on downshifts... Maybe it wasn't a worthwhile upgrade after all. Haha.

I like the wheel but I know what you mean about right corners. So long as you can keep your hands at 9 and 3 it's perfect for me.

Great ! Wind the resolution all the way down to 30 yds and you get street view ....
In the map settings, you can choose google maps as default ..

Yeah, I've followed all the steps online and have my 8 digit pin but when I try to login the car it just tells me the service is unavailable. My salesman has said it could be down to the system having so much use with it being the 1st sept but I don't know as I tried before when I went in to see the car and the same message appeared. I'll give it until Friday and then take it in if I still haven't managed.

Mine was similar when I got it last month - solution was to log out of Audi connect then log back in - make sure you've still got your scratch off pin in case you log out of that by mistake like I did. All services seemed to work when I did this.

So I had the wheels, callipers, glass and exhaust tips ceramic coated yesterday and while the wheels were off had some spacers popped on. Went for 12mm based on some various reviews and people's opinions. Here's the before and then after photos:

Sweeeeet!!
Who did you use for the ceramic coating out of interest? Also approx price if you don't mind me asking?
I started a thread re paint work/interior protection and thinks that's where I'm heading for mine (when it arrives!)...
TIA

It's lad up near me named Lewis with the company OCD'tailing.

He did me a mates rates deal but I think that would probably be around the £4-500 mark as a guess. He'd have to give you an actual figure though.

It's looking awesome this morning in the sunshine and even the morning dew just rolled off of the windscreen at 30mph!

Mine cost £450 for paint correction, machine polish, two coats of ceramic, alloy and leather sealant...

Surprising, the B9 has been out for a while now so you'd have thought there would be a pattern set up. Won't it be the same story with the wrap?

Yeah, I mean they did have some panels but the kit didn't cover the whole car is all. I think it's done intentionally though as it's not a super car where most normal people would want the whole thing done... Fair enough but it would be nice to have the option!

A normal wrap is a bit different because the film is wrapped around the edges of the panels whereas the PPFs just go right up to the edge but not around so have to be more accurately cut. That's what the lad doing mine was saying. You can do custom PPF but if you don't cut them extremely accurately then they don't look right and can also peel up around the edges.

Hope that makes sense.

Sorry but of a newbie to this but presume PPF = paint protection film?

What panels do they protect and roughly how much for just the most at risk areas?

S4 looks awesome Daggerit and those spacers doing a great job, agree a bit of drop would really benefit.

Yeah, you're spot on, it's paint protection film.

If I remember rightly it's front bumper, quarter panels, bonnet and wing mirrors. I think that it was something like £800 if I remember rightly but I could be wrong.

Half my issue is I didn't want the paint on the doors scratched by the 3 year old or the rear bumper by me when loading or unloading things. Which the current kit wouldn't have helped...

Thanks for that, I'll have to keep my eyes out for springs. Obviously wheels with a different offset are preferable to the spacers but they'll do in the meantime while I'm saving up some extra dosh for more mods.

I was being lazy and just left it to the detailer so didn't actually ask... Here's a couple pics though.

Car Pro dlux is great stuff, I've had it on my last couple of cars and got it on the wife's car too.
Not overly convinced with windscreen treatments, tried a few (professionally applied) but always got wiper chatter.

Car looks great pal, makes me think I need to go and clean mine

That's the car in for getting wrapped so hopefully I'll have some progress shots and then some finished shots as well. Pretty excited but it'll take 4-5 days so can't be too impatient...

Yeah, thanks. Didn't realise about the edge difference with wrap vs. PPF. Think I'll get my next one PPF'd, even if it is only the front end: stone chips are the killer for me! Don't necessarily fancy a full wrap, looking forward to seeing how yours turns out though. Is the wrap as durable a material as the PPF?
