Been reading a lot of a hidden green menu in our MMI's and what you can disable or enable there.

Seen videos and searched for clues of how to access it but cannot do it on mine.

Is it possible that my car MMI is exceptionally special and has the access to the hidden green menu disabled or am I just too dumb to get on with it?

disabled by default for a reason due to it being complicated, if you press the wrong thing then its goodbye mmi.

if you don't know what you're doing or are unaware of what the different features and commands do then stay away.

I would never change anything before asking someone knowledgeable about it or googling it.

Just generally wondered if there is anything in there worth changing, disabling or enabling to make MMI look nicer Maybe or add something extra?

Do you know their hidden features?

Personally annoyed by lack of onscreen volume gauge. Can it be enabled there?

You can only enable the Hidden Green menu using VCDS and a VAG-COM cable, unless a previous owner has already enabled it.

There is nothing you can change in the green menu to change the way the MMI looks, you also cannot add any additional software.

There is no way of adding the volume level on the MMI screen. Cannot see the point of the volume level being displayed all the time my ears know the volume level not my eyes.

There are options that can be enabled but a lot of them require hardware. Sometimes if a software update on the MMI system has been performed then you can lose functions like the battery meter for example.

Maybe been seing thing differntly than.

B5NUT, have you tried to operate the climatronic gauges without looking at them?
I'm sure you can also feel the heat, AC or even fan flow without looking at the levels(!)

Thanks all for replies. Got clarity about it now

Yes I have on some of my older cars that never have digital displays to set the temperature. It was one of the things I found irritating on the 2G system, the display would completely disappear if you touched the heated seats or temperature. There is a little LED display on the panel that shows the temp I don't see the point doubling up. Just my opinion of course, and if you prefer the display that's fine, it's just not possible with the 2G software to perform what you are asking.

I too have seen the youtube clips and would be interested in having a look at some of the features the hidden menu has to offer. So can I have it enable for access via car and setup buttons once enabled with vagcom?

Wayne, just got my done by Bobby Singh.

It was disabled but he done it and now I can access it by pressing CAR+SETUP buttons together.

Didn't played with it yet but I'm sure it is a lot to discover.

Worth to do some reading about it before, not to mess it up.

Just added the Engine Oil Level gauge in the mmi, through hidden green menu.
Followed mr-fix's video on YT and enabled it.
Shame my car has no oil level sensor fitted to show any reading and to access this option (!)

Had battery level added some time ago by @DJAlix and it's simple info on your battery charge. Quite cool.

Any other quirky options can be added?
Still would love to have sound volume level showing. Not all the time displayed but when adjusting it.

You can enable it via a downloaded script copied onto an SD card, so you DO NOT need access to VCDS. I enable it this week so I could delete my outdated sat nav software, and so I could also delete the old hard drive partion, before installing the 2017 maps.

Link to download script.

and instructions below.

1. Unzip and copy to SD card.
2. Put the SD card in the MMI.
3. When prompted press the center knob.
4. After the script is done you will see confirmation screen.
5. Remove the SD card and reboot MMI

Thanx mate but got the green menu activated some time ago now. Check previous posts.

Also have latest sw version and sat nav maps updated by @DJAlix.

Should be able to.
If your hidden green menu enabled, access it and follow steps from you tube. Few videos there but depend on your mmi version.
