Temporary hold on new Audi S4 Orders!?

Response from Audi Uk.
Hi, James. This information relates to the situation in the German market - we don’t yet know the implications for UK models, however, it would only affect new orders. Your vehicle would not be impacted as it is already built. We hope you enjoy your new A4.
Good to see you got a response from them that wasn't speak to the Supplying Dealer

Well it was via Facebook messenger, They still not replied to the email I sent to them last week, however the dealer is looking into it as well for me but confidence is rising slowly that it will not be affect. I won't be happy if I've been lied too...but I''m keeping all the email's that I sent them and Facebook chat etc just in case.

I've just had a call from my dealer in Edinburgh out of the blue. They have told me the delivery date for my car has come forward by 2 weeks and should be 2/3 week of September.

My Audi Trackers is still saying " Your S4 Avant will begin construction on 21st of August 2017" however I think that can be a bit slow to update.

We shall see... Intresting times.

Splodgeit, what date did you order your car, we placed a order for a S5 Cab on the 2nd July. So far nothing.

I ordered end of June but it didn't appear on the tracker until the 4th of July 2017. Do you have a order number? Have you used the tracker?

Spoke to the dealer this morning - my car is arriving into the UK today it would seem and no issues in terms of handover etc.
Hopefully should be with me in the next week or so depending on there availability to deliver from Brighton to the North East - I have asked them not to prep the car at all - hopefully they wont.

On the Audi UK website: "Ordering for the 3.0 TDI 272PS quattro S tronic is currently suspended while we await revised technical information. Information is for illustrative purposes only; please speak to your local centre to discuss stock availability". If you go to the S4 section it also states the same.
I also tried to configure a saloon with the 2.0ltfsi petrol engine and it wouldn't let me, only the 1.4 was available..

Between the list of 2.0TDI engines and the list of 3.0 TDI engines you'll see the 2.0TFSI Engines.

Odd mistake for them to make on their own website given that the 3.0 TDI 272 Quattro isn't a s-tronic, it's tiptronic...

It is.
Change the Trim Line to "All" and you'll see it there...I've just looked again.
Only on the SE as far as I can see, does this mean this is the only trim level where the co2 / MPG figures are correct?

I can see where I could now order my car a black edition?

So checked the tracker this morning (usual ritual with all fingers crossed!) and it's now jumped ahead from the build start date of 21st August to now being in panel shop.

So my S4 Avant is now moving after what seems like a very long wait since my order date of 15/6, understand though I'm a good few weeks off delivery from what I've read due to transit and waiting times at the port...still need to keep patient!

It would seem that the cars ordered mid-jun / early-jul that were due to build Aug 21st have been going through quicker. On 29th Jul my tracker kicked in to life and started jumping thought to quality control within a couple of days. It stayed at QC status for two and a half long weeks and suddenly updated this morning as 'in the UK'!
Dealer emailed me this afternoon to say they had been notified the same and they would keep me posted on arrival at the dealership.
So if it turns up soon, that would be amazing but a) i'd probably want to wait for the 67 plate anyway and b) we still don't know what the 'revised' S4 is going to be. And according to the dealer we'll have to wait until 4th Sep to find out if it's just a wheel option change or a fully-reprogrammed ECU with zero lag (or something else entirely) that has caused the halt on orders so they can do the new emissions test.

My view of it is if it's something that's caused a major issue and the economy or whatever has been altered drastically then they should be obliged to update cars that have recently arrived.

If it's just a software tweak so speed up the gearbox response then that should be something we can ask to be done at a dealership when it suits us.

Just my thoughts and I realise that if it's a new turbo or gearbox internals Audi likely won't be updating the bits for customers as per my first point, but in an ideal world it's what I'd expect to happen.

I'm in much the same boat as you as my car is new also, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it as well.

Where did the date of the 4th September come from by the way? I've not heard that thrown around before.

The dealer's official response to my queries said that there was a 2 week halt in production from BW 34, and that cars they build when they resume (BW36 onwards) will have the new homologation tests carried out. So that's when they're expecting to find out what that change is.

Audi Japan have higher mpg and CO2 figures for S4, all the other audi websites still seem to have the hold on orders or no mention of S4 at all, could this be an idea of what is happening?

Email from dealer with my reg number and offer of collection Sep 1st.
Website still saying orders suspended awaiting revised technical info.
Do i sign the form and take the collection slot, hoping the 'new' S4 isn't a significant change / improvement? Or wait it out...?

I'm going ahead with my collection on the 1st. If there was something significant that was more than just a software update then I image you could argue you were delivered a vehicle when Audi knew there was an important upgrade due and either hand it back or get the upgrade made?

Since we don't know the details yet it's a bit of a gamble but since I had no gripes after my test drive I'm not overly worried.

Spoke to my local dealer today who said that he could place me a new order today if I wanted and that delivery would be towards end of November. They also said the suspension had been due to needing to correct CO2 figures (an increase in it) and MPG figures (worse) and that was all.

However, another dealer, not so local, told me on Monday that they wouldnt be able to place an order!

Think I might do the same to be honest - that is if there is still a slot left for Sep 1 collection - it's going to be busy i'm guessing! Now that i'm so close I'm not sure I can wait...

I placed my order with the dealer at the end of July (only to be quickly told they couldn't actually place the order with Audi). Today I got my Audi email with an order number. That's for a 2.0tfsi though, but I understood the same problem applied to both 2.0 and 3.0, so hopefully things are moving again.

The question now is, how soon after Christmas will it turn up :-(

That's weird - I also placed an order at the end of July and was told there was a delay (anticipated delivery date around December). I received an email from Audi a few days ago with an order number and it was for a 2.0tfsi (in the wrong colour and spec) as well.

I can only think it's something to do with reserving a build slot and perhaps a 2.0 is the closest they can get?

On Audi UK's website:
"Please note that the S4 3.0 TFSI 354PS will shortly be rehomologated. Following the homologation, this car is likely to be subject to updated official CO2 emissions figures and official fuel consumption figures. Those updated values are the ones which will apply to any vehicles which are ordered from on or after 22/08/2017. The values displayed on this website at present, however, are the current (and only) official fuel consumption and official CO2 emissions figures. Customers should contact their local Audi network Centre if they have any questions in relation to this issue. Note that orders made in respect of these vehicles after 22/08/2017 may be cancelled without charge if you no longer wish to proceed with your order once you are informed of the updated official values."

Having just taken delivery a week an a half a go I contacted the dealer re the above info on the website.

They have categorically informed me that Audi are revising co2 and mpg figures for the s4 model in line with eu regulations.

This may not mean any change in the vehicle at all, however if the revised figures require the production of cars to have a software update, any b9 owner will get a recall and the new map uploaded into the car...if you want it.

I'm sure an s4 buyer is that concerned with co2 or mpg otherwise they would have bought a 1.4 tfsi or a diesel. The car has 450 road tax no matter what the figure is and let's be honest a few mpg either way won't make a significant difference to cause concern.

Does someone have any update on this?
Are orders still blocked?

Thanks.

Not much to add to the above. The 2.0 and 3.0 petrol are the issue. I ordered on 31/07 and the order tracker still has no build date. I was asked to go into the dealer last week to sign some kind of MPG/CO2 waiver in view of the fact there are still no official figures for the revised engine.

Seriously leaning towards a cancelled ordered and going for a C200 AMG with loads of options for the same money.

Some good deals on Mercedes at the moment especially lease deals.

CLA 45 AMG Shooting brake

I looked at one of they shooting brake amg's and was sorely disappointed, I really wanted to like it as it was a lot cheaper than the Audi but the boot is horrendous and useless for the dog getting in and out of, one of those up and over jobs rather than floor flat to bumper, interior was very plasticky too, and generally not a nice place to be sat in, on a good note for them though is I preferred it to the 335 touring m sport I looked at, hated that interior! Annoying as both the merc and BMW look good from the outside but the interiors really let them down

Will be sticking with Audi and ordering the S4 when I decide it's time to replace my current car

New member here, also quite delayed with my order. Ordered a 2.0 TFSI Black Edition Saloon late July and still no build date; now looking at other options.

Do you have any more info on these good lease deals on the CLA45?

My dealer is hoping my S4 order will be built sooner. Currently got a build date of 30th October.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and my dealer has told me I’m looking at a December collection.

Looks like new figures have been released. 179g/km and 35.8 mpg so no change to VED. This is for the avant.
