Instead of hijacking @jassyo06 thread I thought I'd better start my own.
So I'm looking into jumping up a good few rungs of the A3/S3 ladder and going for a S3. At the moment I'm looking at both personal leasing and PCP deals.
Nothing is set in stone so colour, wheels, hatch, Sportback are all still in the mix! The only Definite thing I've ruled out is a Saloon. I do like them but two kids and a dog scuppers that idea.
Baring in mind my knackered back I'll probably go with a one of the whites, greys or Floret as they are easier to keep in good nic and with my car cleaning OCD I couldn't go Blue or black as my back wouldn't allow me to keep on top of them.
So show me your S3's, what options were a must for you and what you'd not bother with if you had to do it again?

Cheers Scotty

Edit.....also where did people find the best deals? Dealers, brokers or leasing companies?

Appreciate this is blue, and not one of your choices. Which is a good thing, as navarra smiles when you blow on it!!

Options I’m glad I picked are:
Privacy glass - aftermarket tints often look rubbish
Matrix LED lights - these are awesome!
Advanced Tech Pack - still in love with the virtual cockpit

Rest of the options are in my signature.

I’ve come from two A3s before this. I love the S3, never fails to put a smile on my face. But the haldex and exhausts make for a smaller boot. Small price to pay tho

Cheers @MikeSel^ I do love the blues my all time favourite being Kingfisher but I'm 4 surgeries past being able to keep it how I'd want. Stunning S3 you've got. Not overly bothered about B&O or VC but Privacy will be a definite.

I thought I’d regret not spec’ing the B&O - but I was presently surprised with the stock audi system

VC is my party piece. It’s what people always ask to have a look at... along with the projection puddle lights of course

How big is the dog?

She's a Portuguese Water Dog so Lab/Retriever size. She's always gone in the boot so don't want to change that and bring her into the back seats!

I have a nevarra 3 dr. Must haves are as follows;

B&O - standard sound is terrible
Privacy glass
Super sports seats, just for the aesthetics
Virtual **** pit, 1st had it in a TT and couldn't go back
S tronic - previous TT was manual, was horrible in traffic.

For me that was enough, I wanted mag but wasnt willing to pay the price hike when most of my driving is on motorways

Stronic.. glacier white...pano.....rear parking sensors ...mag ride...19"....... If you can swing it SS seats and B&O. These would be suggestions for Scottyg knowing some constraints he previously posted but those can change in a heartbeat ...just ask @jassyo06 :whistle2::search:

I opted for a 3 door and think it looks the best but it's all personal preference. Something that has been mentioned recently is that for the all new A3 in 2019 the 3 door will be no more so here's hoping it will have a positive effect on resale values haha. When I ordered the 3 door also had a higher deposit contribution in addition to already having a cheaper list price.

Went for Ara Blue paint and coming from a Brilliant Black A3 previously I can say it's a doddle to keep it looking great. Had a ceramic coating applied and general upkeep is simple and quick.

I went a bit over the top on options with mine but to summarise, I think the VC is great but an expensive option. SS Seats I'd say are a must (should be standard on a S car!) although they're not any more supportive they look great but do give you lumbar as standard which is handy. 19 inch alloys and mag ride are good options to have but again quite pricey.

Went for the black edition with mine as I think it suits the paintwork but also gives you b&o and privacy glass as standard so that's a bonus.

@Bells I have a 3 dr just now and with the kids getting in and out and running them to clubs constantly 5 drs is a must this time. Don't get me wrong, I love the 3dr, just not practical enough this time round.

@Sandra I'll have a play on the configurator and fire over the number and see what's what. Thanks for the heads up.

If I'd stayed on @jassyo06 thread it would have been totally confusing. Hopefully I won't change my mind as much as he has (sorry bud)!
Cheers @TYb and @Flying Scotsman

We've recently done a great deal with JCT600 (Boston audi), still awaiting car tho , although this is no fault of dealers. Greeat trade in price and very fair to deal with. Also looked at Vw golf r, but audi cheaper ....????

S3 sport back in ara blue, black edition, stronic -

Handy tool this, I ran my code through this and took that price to my dealer, nice to have the full official number sheet printed out with you.

Tech pack is worth getting as it brings nav and VC.

B&O is a necessity for me too - SO much better than standard.

Folding mirrors are also nice and a cheapish option.

The boot is not big tho and I have to say the ride is more than firm.... so if you have a bad back, you might want to try the S3 over some bad roads.

@Dan_G thanks. I've had firm cars previously with my knackered back. As long as the seats hold me in position I tend to be fine. But, will take your advice and drive one over not so nice Scottish roads.

That probably is a negative of the super seat, it's comfortable but doesn't offer much support around corners, I think the base is exactly the same as the standard S3 seats. I do find them very comfortable through.

The standard cloth seats in my current A3 are actually very comfortable but I'm running on 17s. Although my previous car ran on 20s!

Hey Pal....aint bothered in the slightest about you...joining in on that ******** thread after all its just that... a thread lol, being totally honest with you l think PCP is best if you if yer adding a couple of options....On PCH....its not worth it adding options as your buying them and not renting....So the lower PCH....monthly will soar even by just adding Privacy glass and metallic paint.
Ara Blue will be a doddle to maintain....trust me and all the Ara boys will back this up, plus its a real head turning colour...photos don't do it justice.

S3 Sportback.
Ara blue.
Privacy.
Pano-roof.
Comfort Package

£38,395....JOB DONE

I'd say must haves are:
Super sport seats
Stronic
Folding mirrors
19" wheels

Edit: pano roof would be nice too

5 door hatch
One of the whites or floret.
19" alloys - just make the car imo.
Folding mirrors
Privacy glass
Super sports seats (lumbar included)
I do find them more supportive than the regular seats but know opinions vary.
They also look fab.
That would be the essentials for me.

Like to haves ...
Virtual cockpit
B&O
Extended leather-ette
Black pack

@Scottyg late to this thread due excess alcohol yesterday, think most have said the key points but my 2 pennyworth .......

Go PCP before the various investigations clamp down on it.

Put down 10% deposit and over 4 years your deal will be less than 1% of the car value per month... no brainer.

Get as many online quotes as possible take the lowest to your local dealer and get them to match, discounts are going above standard 10-12% as sales have slumped the last quarter.

Go SB...

Must have Options

Floret Silver -cleaning (and show winning)
Virtual cockpit - its cool and resale value
Hold assist and folding mirrors - convienience

Other options are down to your preference.

Let's me go find the nurofen now

Cheers @Daveotto and @Snake Pliskin

Think it'll be white this time round as having Floret it would be too much like the current car. Never bought two cars in a row the same or similar so this will be new territory.
So now to decide which white suits me best! Privacy will be a 100% definite. I've been quoted £33700 with Tech pack from Liverpool Audi, that's £4500 saving on RRP approx so 12/13% if my man Maths are correct!
However, I don't think the Tech pack is woth the extra £1500 without VC so I'll ditch that. As Jassy said, go BE if I'm going white. Who knew buying would be so confusing!

So is it another RS3 in a year's time, at the moment used RS3 seem to be holding up well

Same her last 4 have been....Phantom Black, Daytona Grey, Sepang Blue and Floret Silver.

On the whites I was going to go Ibis White when I ordered my the 2.0 TDI but ended up with Daytona as they removed it as an option for Glacier White which IMHO was a little bit to blue for me

I've had a flat white before and with some tender loving car it can be quite glossy looking! Not overly keen on the standard 18 BE Alloys. To get different ones you need to go 19s with Mag ride adding £1500 right away!!
I work a mile away from a Approved Used Audi dealership so may pop in and look. I know they have two S3 SB in at the moment so even if I test drive it'll give me a starting point.

You might want to consider that over pano roof with your back, mag ride really transforms the cars handling , and removes 80-90% of the well documented slightly hard ride and bounciness
