Haldex all wheel drive oil service cost?

It's that time of year where I need to get my major service on a 3 year old s3 (40k service)
I've read the car needs a haldex all wheel drive oil service however there no prices on the booking section on Audi
how much are you guys paying for this?
I've read some saying £70 and others £100+

Just had my Haldex done at Tyneside Audi, Just the oil as the filter doesn't need changing apparently. Cost £69.

wow really? i called up my local audi dealership few hours ago and they quoted me £109 is your car manual or dsg facelight or pre facelift

2014 s3 s-tronic mate. Thought it was pretty good to be honest that's why I said do it when it was in for some warranty work.

you have the exact same car as mine same year and s tronic, did you call them and ask how much is was then booked it or did the guys doing the warranty call you up to say you should do haldex?

They phoned me up and said the car has done 15k/3year old now and it needs the haldex oil changed, Was going to do it anyway so thought yeah for that price just do it.

Wont ask them to do the S-Tronic Oil as they wanted £250 for it, can get it done at an independent cheaper.

ive just booked in my service and will not mention the haldex and see if they phone if not i might go inde too , by the way when you get work done from independant dealers do they put work carried out onto the digital service record?

Some can, some cannot, depends if the indi has paid Audi for access to their systems to be able to upload the info onto the database. Best ask the indi in question, no-one can tell you for sure but them.

My S3 is approaching 4 years old, end of September and has done 35,000 miles, and needs a service now, so called two dealers today for service quote, one was £319 the other £375, typically the more expensive is far more conveniently located for work, but both of those were for major services. They didn't mention haldex or dsg which may be needed, they wait until your car is there and on the ramp before they ask you about it.

If it needs doing at that service interval include in the price of the service, mofo's.

Would you stick with dealer or go indi at 4 years old. What's the value of FASH as opposed to part Audi part indi going to be come sale time?

your right!!! ive heard some people say they sometimes dont carry out the work which hurts as your only doing it becuase the car needs it!

when it comes to expensive cars you want the best possible chance of resale, i always try to keep car clean ,park away from other cars in car parks ,park half metre from pavements and keep it food and smoke free with full dealaer service history and my cars have mosttly sold mostly at full asking price and first time.
inde shouldnt have a huge impact on resale but you will get people put off due to it or want to pay less so it kinda balances out

i called 2 inde and one said they dont and the other said yes but the price he quoted was £2 cheaper so id rather go dealers but may call a few more tommorow

Our B8 A4 is approaching 4 years and as of this year I'm doing all servicing myself including the S-Tronic (DSG) service as I have all the tools inc VCDS.

Honestly, I would much rather DIY and know it is done 100% correct than pay someone (dealer or indi) and be unsure if they have done everything needed or if it's been done correctly, or if they have lost the fasteners for the under tray and it's held on with 1 or 2 less than it should be, etc.

Personally I would MUCH rather buy from someone who has DIY'd and got stacks of receipts and clearly shown a lot of love for their car than from someone who has little more than a book full of dealer stamps and just looks at it as a machine that gets them from A to B.

As for resale value....remember, you bought it for YOU, not for the next owner! Do what YOU want, the car will sell regardless. Also, if you save £2000 in servicing then who cars if it sells for £2000 less than a car with FASH, it averages out in the end and you at least know it's all been done properly in your ownership.

If you DIY you will save even more, but it will not reduce resale value any more than going to an indi, just use decent parts / oils and keep all receipts to prove it.

I also got a blank Audi service book and have a "Self Service To Manufacturers Spec" stamp already, so I will be stamping the book, ticking the relevant boxes, noting the mileage and keeping all receipts on our car. Any future owner can't ask for much more than that. It's will provide them with more info than the Audi or Indi service history as to how the car has been looked after.

i just called another audi dealership and they are saying £109 for haldex and filter change on a s3 8v 2014 and i told them everyone saying the 8v doesnt need or have filter and audi said thats whats showing on there systems.....can anyone confirm if our 8v s3 have or need filter change?

Oil and filter done last month under warranty at 31k. Charge slip to Audi left in car was for £72. Car is a Sept 1 2016 S3 Saloon

very good price , im getting £109 from 3 dealers , how did you get the work carried out for free under warranty? was there an issue with your 4 wheel drive?
also is there a ref number or code for this service so i can give it to audi and say i need this work carried out?

Remember that's the price to Audi. I'd expect them to get a cheaper deal than the average punter.
My car had basically become front wheel drive. Plant the right foot and bounce like a kangaroo! Eventually got it booked in thinking it would be the pump, but they said filter and oil and Audi had agreed to cover it. No issues since, so not complaining and saves me some cash in about 6k miles at the 38k service.

I agree. I'd much rather by off a fanatic car enthusiast like yourself, than an apprentice that works at Audi and is careless about the car they are working on. I've found some indi garages excellent, and some horrendous. It's a real mixed bag out there. You can usually tell by the state of the workshop and the answers their techs give that gives you an indication of how good/bad the garage is going to be.

Word of warning for those opt for ind shop... I had my car fully serviced at a ind shop last week, I specifically asked for Haldex service and after picking up the car and just happened to look at the invoice couple days later, I found they only invoiced me for differential oil but not Haldex...

The person who did the service is on leave right now and I won't find out if he changed my Haldex with differential oil or completely forgot to service Haldex... But either way, don't think differential need any servicing at 34k km... So I guess make sure the shop knows what they're doing if you go ind?

Anyway, anyone know if any harm done if the guy did indeed changed it with differential oil?

If he put diff oil in the Haldex mechanism get it out of there ASAP!! The longer it is left the more risk of damage.

If he simply drained the geared part of the diff and refilled that with diff oil it is fine, but you still need to get the Haldex service done.

Really depends on what they have actually done to the car. How long is he on leave for? If it's for a while I would play it safe and get it all changed properly to avoid risk. If he is back on Monday then wait and see what he says was actually done.

Thanks Mario, I already drove maybe 150 km before I even found out!!! I noticed a really really faint whine at higher speed that's the whole reason why I gone through the invoice. My guess would be differential oil went into Haldex Will get it service again first thing tomorrow either if the guy is back or not, but am really worried that damage has already been done. If the Haldex fails couple months down the road, it would be insanely difficult to make any claim against them I'm afraid...

Lucky to report back that they serviced both front and rear differential oil but didn't touch the Haldex... Ruined weekend but at least everything is good now But where the heck is the rear differential drain plug??? I went through everything and only found the front but not the rear??? Anyone got picture?
