rear wishbone bushes

Hi all

Im wondering if anyone has a source for a rear wishbone bush, the car is a b6 a4 avant 2.5 tdi quattro, the bush is the outer bush in the rear wishbone not the one that is pressed into the hub carrier, if memmory serves there is a bolt that goes through the tie arm, through the hub carrier and then through the bush i'm looking for, i've tried audi directly and they claim the bush is not available and that the whole arm must be replaced

I had a look for Powerflex ones thinking you would want to upgrade as well but they don't do them or at least I couldn't find any. Thanks for the link that will help others in need of the same part. Audi would say that wouldn't they

but its a hell of a lot of cash for bushes and I would only consider spending this much if I had a damn good reason for stripping the **** end ie sandblasting and powder coating, am still waiting on the bushes being shipped, ended up getting a full kit from fleabay, same brand but has all the bushes for that big wishbone!

My opinion (and once in my life only) is that I actually agree with Audi on this one.

My bushes were heavily worn and rather than spending the money to have the bushes replaced why not replace the arms and bushes for a little extra?!

After all its a 12 year old car, so the upgrade in control arms is a very good idea. Since, it has worked WONDERS for my drive.

The car will feel like new trust me.

I say the same; do the lot, saves having something break and a wheel rolling away with the side of your car scraping the ground messing up brake discs, bumpers, sumps and/or more, that's a much more costly bill!

I'm not changing the rear control arm because it's a gigantic piece of cast alloy and audi want over £200 each, i'll change all the bushes on the rear, I thought about maybe going for the poly bushes but again huge money!

edit: pehaps I should clarify, this is the rear wishbone and bushes i'm talking about, the front control arms have all been changed!

Ok, fair enough and thanks for clarifiying.

However, polybushing is expensive and for reason..you have to pay for sh*t loads of labour so the guy can burn the old ones out and fit the new as im sure you already know. So, youve kind of hit a brick wall with your options.

I've polybushed before and yes its labour intensive, If I was going to polybush the rear I would do it myself, I have all the equipment and access to a lift, its the price of the bushes that are prohibitively expensive, have a look at the link I posted earlier

I see! Looks expensive whichever way you go.

Its times like these, I will pick a method and just roll with it and never look at what I paid again.

I usually find this 'method' is the best haha.

yeah, the issue is that one of the bushes is extremely perished, when I was changing the dif oil seals I noticed that the metal core had completely parted company with the rubber, so for the effort involved to remove the large wish bone its worth replacing all 4 bushes, I will do the camber arm and trailing arm at a future date as they are relatively easy to remove

well I completed one of the wishbones today and I don't recommend it unless you have the patience of a saint, rear subframe needs dropped to allow access to remove the front most bolt, coil spring compressor is a must too, discovered that the shock has seen better days, corroded at the top and very little pressure on the return stroke, also the drop links was history too!

to resurrect the thread, if anyone needs to change the upper wishbone on the rear (what I would call a camber arm as it has deals with the camber adjustment) the part number is 8E0505323 (lh) and 8E0505324 (rh)
