V8 dropping to V6 is not a perception its reality. And while it may be a powerful engine it will be seen by many as a downgrade, with everything to prove.

I must say, I'm just not sure it's worth the extra wedge. Clearly a very impressive piece of kit, but you can easily spec it to £90k and I just can't see it worth the £40k premium over at S5 imo

Woeful.

Everything about that advert is the opposite of RS. Their interiors have always been best in class. So, they can hardly fall back on that as an 'amazing' strength. I've heard the words and the rhetoric but now I've seen this, it's official. It's a concerted effort to re-brand the badge and line. Which is failure in my books haha. Audi threw in the towel.

You take the RS6 for example. Bonkers, unbelievable performance, presence, sound, character and practicality. The complete package. So...why not with the RS5? Within its class obviously. V8 is king haha. Anyway, expect to see an RS5 performance with 500bhp and lots more fiddly Carbon parts from Audi Sport. Maybe with a real exhaust. For an extra £10-15k Everything to prove.

Ummmmm. I do see what they're doing. Honestly, I do. Choose your battles and all that. Just seems like they're a little 'sore' about it all. I wasn't even too fussed it had lost the V8. Things move on. But, it's just the sheer lack of emotion/character/exhaust.

BUT, it looks absolutely breath taking. I'm a big fan of the aesthetics. This Daytona grey and black pack I'm watching looks superb.

I think it will be better in RS4 guise. The package is growing on me but still has that big lag/hesitation as the S models. Just doesn't seem 'focussed' enough. Ya know? The S5 is the all rounder. The RS5 shouldn't be playing towards that too. Be good to see someone booting one in real life.

That's my point exactly. I know my S5 is a compromise....in fact that's why I bought it. I want luxury GT most of the time and somewhat noisy sports car every now and then. I just think the RS5 should be slightly scary, edgy, highly strung, loud, super Saloon/coupe and I just don't think it is. Watching the videos etc, it has the same compromises the S5 does (lag, lazy gearbox in comfort, slightly dull steering etc) it just has more power and some carbon bits stuck on. If I had the money I just think I'd go elsewhere, probably a Jag F-type, or C63 S.

RS7 Performance even. I think the C7 platform (RS6 chassis) is the best of both worlds from Audi. Just enough modern tech and solid grunt!

Too big. Only fun on motorways or at jail time speeds. Amazing bit of kit, love my C7 daily but it aint ever going to be a sunday morning car.

I dunno man. The A6 does look and feel huge. But the RS6 just seems to hide it so so well. I've properly had my pants down by one before. Roundabouts and sharp turns. Left me. Not even kidding. I've ruined R8s before on back roads in my S4 but this thing was like nothing I've ever seen on the road.

Every review says it just masks its size. Anyway. Think the RS5 would have it now on the back roads but RS6 w/Miltek wins every day.

Edit: R8 drivers must have had manual and terrible drivers

Mate they can go quick around bends but it's hard work. There are so many times on motorways i wish i was in an RS6 but never on a nice road. Yea demo before i got the 4

Long term test drives are hard to get in my experience. That's awesome. Was it used? I think weight is obviously a big issue. Perhaps I'm just in a phase of wanting more of an experience and sense of occasion than nimble performance.

The S4 is really nimble actually. S5 probably more so.

Well exactly. Got 3 years of joy to be had with a 4 from March hopefully! I do like the alcantera on the RS5. Although, it's not actually an option on the mobile configurator.

Mind boggling really. RS3 sounds better with same performance. Haha. I won't know anybody that will buy a 5 but that's just because we're not all capable in my circle. But I'd like to meet someone that does and hear how they feel about it.
