Looking to know the pros and cons of getting a resonator delete on my fl S3 8V. Been hearing mixed reviews on it.

There have been loads and loads of threads about this. If you search theres one that goes on for pages!

Plenty of videos on YouTube as well to give you a nice acoustic representation of the mod. I'm going to get it done as soon as Awesome get the kit back in stock.

Pros:
- It's actually a mini mid-muffler, not a resonator...meaning removing it will amplify the existing sound but will not change the frequency of the sound (aka added rasp from removing a real resonator)
- The car finally sounds like a sport sedan
- Not obnoxious, but you can tell it's there
- Utilizing OEM mufflers and tips means no trouble from the popos

Cons:
- Expensive for what it is, a custom job done by a good muffler shop will cost a fraction (with T304SS, Mandrel Bend, and TIG weld)

Watched a couple and you can definitely tell the difference! Have it booked in for next Tuesday/Wednesday

Thanks for that. More pros than cons is what I was looking for, getting it done custom which is working out a decent price!

We offer a 76.00 mm Centre silencer delete pipe with anti drone tube.
This can be specced up to fit to a 76.00 mm downpipe or to OEM down pipe.
Cheers

Just a resonator delete will result in drone.....that is, a constant annoying one frequency note whilst at a steady speed. If you are happy with that go ahead and do it. The Powervalve would be an option I would look at if I was going to do this mod.
If you look at most aftermarket cat back exhaust systems you will see a type of resonator employed, there is a reason for that....to reduce drone

Pros = sounds a tonne better
Cons = aftermarket Res pipes are a rip off imo

I had mine custom welded by a respected muffler shop for £70. Was no way I was going to pay any more than that for what is effectively a 3'' stainless steel pipe. Drone is not too bad in my opinion but it's all relative at the end of the day and how much your willing to splash out to obtain less drone.

Yeah exactly, there's no way I'm paying over £100 for it either lol, I don't think I'll mind the drone tbh!

I can't recommend Nige @ BCS powervalve enough. He attached the photos of the antidrone pipe above and it does work. Eliminates drone.

I know the sound is amazing in Dynamic mode but how is it in Comfort when just cruising? How different is it from stock? I'm asking because I'm 99% sure I'm going to get a res delete but the misses is also going to use the car in Comfort and I don't want her to complain every time she gets in the car because of the noise level :blahblah1:

You won't really notice too much of a difference in comfort under low RPM unless you have the windows down. The insulation of the cabin still does a good job of keeping the sound relatively neutral - the only thing I notice on my PFL is a horrible drone when cruising at 3k RPM on the motorway.

anyone you would recommend in the Birmingham area for this mod guys?

Good to hear. I will get the BCS res delete antidrone pipe same as @Sam Millar. I hope this will eliminate most of the drone people with OEM res delete or exhaust shop delete are talking about.

I never really put mine in Comfort mode, when I have it in Efficiency mode it's like having it in stock Dynamic you could say... (of course without the pops and bangs) but I don't really find it loud at low RPM driving sensibly so yeah it's definitely doable! Don't notice much drone out of it either. Hope this helps!

This is good news for me as I was planning to go down the route of just a res delete. The speak of drone worried me as I didn't want the car to sound too boy racerish.

Yeah know what you mean mate, was thinking the same thing before I went and done it but I definitely don't regret it!

Car in comfort mode with res delete is no different to if it still had the resonator. I also have my valves open constantly and I don't have any issues.

Great! Now I'm 100% sure to get it. And still no drone? :musicnotes:
