Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

It does look great, still not sure on it though. I'm sticking to Floret with Black pack.

You do right

Floret & black pack is stunning !!! :sunglasses:

Must confess I really like Navara too though.

It's VERY similar to estoril blue which I had on my last car an S5.

Estoril was as bad as black to look after though .... floret is awesome on that score :)

With regards to the Pan roof - for those that have ordered - is it a "must" and is that because you have had it before or just something new you fancy?

I have changed my mind and decided on a Sportback now - outside thinking of White with black pack, possibly roof - no roof bars though. I like the blue and the Daytona grey, really like the Nardo in the sportback but don't think I want it long term for myself.

Going to stick with the standard wheels - save £695 + £400 in first years road tax and put that towards some different alloys - thinking Superleggera.

Decisions, decisions eh ...

Out of interest how do you know when the car arrives if it has the mag ride? Is there something on the settings or do you just hope that when you change the drive select it goes softer?

Hello neg - I think the Pan roof makes a nice extra, it gives the option to brighten up the interior on dull days and reduces the amount of paint work to polish and seal, glass is much easier to keep clean......

I too was deciding between the blue and Daytona, the grey won out as it's much more discreet. we had the same dilemma with the RS Q3 and were happy with Daytona.

Good thinking with the wheels

Are you the same neg from VWROC? (chubby here :smile new:)

Yes that's me - keep it on the quiet but I suppose that's a bit of a giveaway :whistle2:

If I get another white car some folk probably wont realise I've changed .. thats a good thing sometimes. The Mrs is not keen on me having the blue or even the Daytona but I like them so as a compromise I am thinking the white - which I still like. Afterall she's not moaning about how much I am spending :wink new:

VWROC? Are you guys moving to the "darkside" then ;)

A question about it, would you get red brakes with it or stick with the standard black ones? I think the black brakes would go with the silver and black theme but I have red ones now and they do stand out more and finish off the look with Mythos Black. It would be easier to tell if there were pictures of a Floret Silver RS3 Saloon.

Personally I don't think the car / colour / combo needs red brakes.
With the silver & black theme, the standard colour brake calipers look great and the RS logo just stands out enough to look cool.

Tell you what, silver is never a colour that I'd like enough to order on any car.. but every time I see photos of yours, it looks absolutely outstanding! Floret certainly looks like a great colour, it's the darker shade that I love. I'm sure the car stands out a lot with that look, it looks uncommon.

Cheers - Yeah I was exactly the same.
It was the darker shade of silver which drew me to floret - and then matching up black with it contrasted so well.
Then seeing the F1 Merc safety car in this colour combo sealed the deal :)

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Still annoying that there aren't any Floret RS3 Saloon pics, the config pics aren't as useful.

Side on, the S3 is identical to the RS3? Front on, it's the same as the Floret Sportback we have photos of.

I've ordered a Racing Blue RS3, I will never see that colour in a facelift before it arrives...

So spec'd up the car and was convinced the best way to go is the standard wheels and save the £695+£400(additional tax) and go for some better aftermarket wheels. I am pretty sure I will swap them anyway but thinking I should just get the optional wheels just for the hell of it.

Don't really like the look of the standard but then the optional don't wow me that much either (probably as you see the style on every other Audi).

I have a set of Revo RV019 wheels which I think I may refurb and fit - these are 8.5 so maybe I could put the larger tyres on the front too ... need to check offsets etc. These are a nice light wheel at only 10kg a corner.

Another thought was some OZ Superlegerra's maybe..

I've done the same standard wheels which getting painted in gloss black for less than the tax increase I would pay with upgraded wheels.

Hmm, any photoshop people that could make the standard wheels gloss black to see what they may look like?

Next installment of the RS3 Saloon review from Automann-TV, this time on the Autobahn including launch

0-100kmh - 3.7secs so 60mph will be around 3.5 and tops out at 284kmh

Typically 2 weeks before the build week your order becomes confirmed meaning it won't move and you can't adjust your order. Mine is still showing as the 31st August and has now been confirmed, no more info on the tracker but you can confirm with Audi Live Chat the specific status. All being well I should get mine early to mid September - knowing Audi build dates I was expecting to wait a lot longer.

I tried to add to add red calipers to my order and dealer has told me it's locked down and I cannot change it. Build is set for 14th August.

I would double check with Audi direct (live chat or customer service) whether your build week is confirmed or unconfirmed, usually a build week is not locked down until 2 weeks before production, you should be able to change it although it may move your build week. Its always worked that way for me.

Thanks, I will give them a call and see what they have to say.

Exactly the same with mine. I tried to add red calipers last week and dealer said it was locked. My build week is 7th August. Interested to know if you mange to add them without pushing the build week back.

I spoke to Audi this afternoon. First of all she said that Sales don't work weekends but she would ask a supervisor as I said how much I wanted the red brake's. She came back and said once the order is showing as received its locked in. I will probably try again on Monday and speak to sales at Audi to see what they say. Can only try!

Audi customer service are terrible, that can't be right as quite often a dealer will take an order that they have already and change it to suit a customer, that's exactly what happened with mine, was originally ordered by the dealer on the 20th june my order placed on the 7th July, colour changed from Nardo to Ara (I know some won't appreciate that ) and numerous other changes - so orders can be changed until they are confirmed. I contacted them recently several times to ask why I couldn't track my order and was told conflicting information - from it takes 48hrs to it takes 7 days to you can only track it once production starts !! be interested to see what "Sales" have to say, amazed they don't work weekends !!

You can't change it because months of planning goes into keeping these lines running, it's locked in because your parts will already be on a shelf with your VIN waiting to go together! There is a reason it can't be changed, because the parts already exist for your car.. otherwise they would have people changing bits the day before they start build. Then they would run out of parts for cars they have been allocated for, there is basically nil chance of it being changed I am afraid.

It's like ordering a kitchen, the. 2 days before the fit saying you want black doors instead of white when the kitchen fitter already has the white doors in the back of his van..........

No I get that, but the lock down usually takes place 2 weeks before the orders build week changes from unconfirmed to confirmed, not from the day you place the order !!

There is no way you will be able to keep changing things up to 2 weeks before build date. Change by all means but build date will move out.

The only reason you can't change it, is if it is locked down.

Yes would be good if anyone good with photoshop could show wheels in gloss black on nardo saloon(sedan) please as think will look good with black optic pack

You can also have the standard wheels diamond cut when you have them refurbished, so they can look identical anyway.

That is going to cost you the best part of £5-600 in terms of taking them to be cowderpoated by a diamond wheel specialist. It then gets to the point of weighing that up against the £1095 cost from Audi.

I'm still in 2 minds about the optional wheels, it's a complete ballache about the additional £400 but I can't help but think you're going to notice it in both terms of aesthetics and performance.

I wonder how the 235/35/19's look on the front in comparison to the 255/30/19's? PFL owners, have any of you noticed a different stance in any pictures between the 2 options? Yeah I know the 35 profile drops down to 30 and vice versa between the two so it should keep the same rolling radius. Audi put 255 on the fronts for a reason, I suspect to help in controlling any excessive understeer.

In addition to that, it looks like a ballache to go aftermarket too (or even genuine Audi items) Do 255/30/19's even fit on the back? If not, you would need to buy a dedicated staggered setup.

Wheels need to be right to complete the look of the car in my opinion, probably one of the most important choices. The standard silver wheels are too plain for me so I'm also in the mindset of getting them powdercoated a gunmetal type colour. Gloss black full wheel is too dark for me. Any black wheels will be nice with the red callipers behind though. I think if you are going full gloss black on the wheels you definitely need the red callipers to break it up a bit.
