Facelift Audi Sound System Sub settings?

I suspect you're right, at least if my own experience and that of several others is anything to go by.

If I were you I'd hound the salesman until he's sick of the sound of your voice, and when you aren't doing that, get on to Audi UK Customer Services and make sure they know too.

Have you looked in your manual to see if it says you can adjust the subwoofer in a car that has one? It may be different in the latest edition. If it isn't different, your case (and everybody else's is stronger). You paid for ***, remember...

The only way this will get sorted is if enough people complain about it, but the complaint has to go to Audi UK. The dealerships won't escalate it voluntarily - all that'll happen is you'll be told that's the way it is, like it or lump it.

And that won't do.

.

Agreed, I'll start kicking off on Monday. Either way we need an official answer, as Ambroos' point could well be valid here.

I had *** in my A1, and the sub was in the wheel well, nice and secure as there was no space saver. My other thought is that the s3 sportback sub is in the spare wheel and can be removed for access, so I wonder if they've disabled control as any further power/bass into it could well cause rattles or distortion from the *** equipment. Not sure if that argument holds ground if b&o sub is in the same position.

B&O sub is in an enclosure inside the spare wheel on the Sportback.

Well that's my theory knocked on the head then!

Also, yes the manual still says there is a subwoofer control and doesn't make any mention of it being optional extra. Manual code is A3 Englich 05.2017 8V2012720AD

My facelifted S3 8V has B&O Sound System, but no subwoofer control dial in the MMI, like several others here. I emailed Audi support about this who replied that it should have a subwoofer control and to take it to a dealer for investigation, which I did. The dealer has sent all the info to Audi Germany for investigation, but as yet no reply.
HOWEVER the service chap did check other S3's in the compound and says it seems that S3's WITH the Panoramic SunRoof DO NOT have the sub control, whilst those WITHOUT a Pano Roof DO have the sub control dial. Maybe there is some issue with vibrations possibly damaging the sunroof, so its is disabled?
Pure speculation at this stage, but who out there has the Pano Roof and does anyone with it have the sub control dial in their MMI?

I don't have pan roof yet I don't have it. It's to do with the BW of the car. See the post I quoted above, the amp for B&O in the S3 has been revised 3 times in under a year (Although that was back in July so could have been revised again by now)

Hello everyone. I have just bought a new A3 Sportback 2017 MY18 2.0 TFSI with ***. When I saw the demo car at the dealer (it was MY17) it habe the subwoofer on the boot, with the spare wheel, but no control for the sub in MMI.

Does anyone knows if mine, being MY18, will have the sub control? I am in need of that info since I will not receive the car if no subwoofer control on MMI, specially because I am buying that car as a replacement for an A1 with another problem on the MMI.

Thanks!

I don't think it is certain you will get sub control in your MMI and you probably need to discuss with the dealer.

My own 2016 FL S3 does not have MMI sub control. I escalated this to Audi UK. At their request it went to the dealer twice and the issue was 'escalated to Germany'. The answer that came back was the car 'is what it is' and either has, or has not got MMI sub control. No MMI update to change it. No other way of getting Sub control offered.

There are S3's newer than mine in dealers, some have sub, some do not.
It is NOT dependent on having, or not having a sunroof (as suggested at one stage by my dealer).

One thread here speaks of there being at least 3 different versions of the B&O amp being installed in S3's and this may be why some have sub control and others don't. I don't know if the B&O amp can be specified when ordered or can be changed? Does anyone know where the B&O amp is in the car?

I believe the amp is located under the front passenger seat.

According to Alex on this post (at least for a 2015 S3) - http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...ck-amplifier-location-is.357261/#post-3166830

"B&O Systems = under passenger seat there is a black plastic vented box, the amp / processor is in there.
Standard and *** Systems = its built in to the MMI / glovebox unit."

Wondered what that black box was actually when cleaning the car a few days ago :)

Thanks a lot! Anyway, has someone ever checked if even without the subwoofer control the sub works? I mean, in my A1, I can feel it is working when placing my hand on top of it.

I'm pretty sure it works, just not as well as the one car I tested with the control turned up.

Is your car MY18? Thanks!

I used to have a sub setting in my previous car, but setting has gone in new car, delivered in December. Both had/have the Audi Sound System.

I think the quality of the bass has gone down in the new one. Maybe Audi has created more of a difference between the Audi Sound System upgrade, and Bose upgrade.

Just took delivery of my beatiful A3 today... no sub setting at all!!!! Damn! The sub works, but no control on MMI

It's firmware issue... I have PFL S3 with ***, the bass was pretty good with MMI control, and then I upgraded to Virtual Cockpit, MMI2 etc and then the sub control is gone from MMI, and the woofer is pretty much set to min, and the sound is really really bad now... It has been discussed to death elsewhere, Audi doesn't really give a dime, and there're report that later built with updated firmware does have sub control. There's also another guy flash to A5 MMI firmware and the sub control came back, but lots of other function doesn't work, and once revert back to S3 firmware, sub control is gone again and the setting doesn't retain as well... So unless Audi release firmware update, there really isn't much that can be done.

It really sounds like FW issue. I have B&O, communication package and navigation option, not activate. And no adjustment for Sub. My wild guess, it's something related on communication package , Car Play. System will forget adjustments overall and this Car Play feels really like "drop in hurry" patch. It's really pain in the *** when you need to connect the phone via cable and then everything works differently than using just BT. Only which is good in Car Play; sound is better than via BT and of course, you have navigation via Car Play that way. But I will activate real navigation and forget then cable hassles. And let's see, what else will change when MMI Navigation will be activated, FW needs to be updated at the same time.

Just restart an old topic...
I have no sub control in my MMI setting --> version 0213
Just wondering if the cars with the audi sound system (***) option do have this function.

PFL yes, FL no...

So lads... Did anybody with B&O sound system (No navigation), production date January 2017 and software version 0191 updated their system to 0211 and got subwoofer control? It looks like TSB for subwoofer control icludes only MIB2 High which comes with software 0679 from factory. But people reported here that there is sub control on B&O system with software 0211 (MIB2 High Scale). So it seems like 0191 can be updated to 0211 and maybe that will get us sub control? Oof that is complicated (Thank you audi)

There is a subwoofer control file (update file for mmi) to activate the subwoofer control on facelift a3 with A.S.S.
Installed on mine and works perfect!

Can you tell me something more about this file? Where to find it and how did you install it? It will be helpful not only for me :) thanks in advance
