Hi all,

Just received a re-trimmed wheel from royal steering wheels, wondering does anyone know what size torx I need to remove the centre bolt? Also do I need a torque wrench to refit the bolt?

J

Cheers Darren, off to the motor factors in the morning :)

Nice this has been on my list of things to do for a while now, upload a pic when she's on.

All sorted, 50nm felt very tight also got an esp and airbag warning but got rid of them

I assume you had to send off your steering wheel or did you have one to send to Royal already and replaced the one already fitted?

I paid for the re-trim + a deposit, they sent me a retrimmed wheel, I send back my wheel and my deposit is returned

Looks spot on mate, finishes off the interior nicely!

Makes me urgently want to get mine done , I've had perforated leather sides, nappa top & bottom, silver stitching & red strip on the shopping list for ages now. I want to get it slightly thicker like yours is, what's the option regarding the thickness?

Never asked about thickness being honest, I'm sure if you email them though they'd be able to advise you, defo thicker than the original, feels good

Cool will do thanks mate, all in it's around £150 iirc. I love my S3 flat bottom steering wheel however my only criticism of it is that it's a tad too thin, especially for my big hands! I'm going for a job Monday so if I get, I think this will be a little treat to myself as it's something you personally get to see & use 100% of the time whilst driving :racer:

Yeah it's roughly around that. You'll love it

I think all their retrims are 2mm thicker than stock, check the website. I ordered mine and got it fitted while u wait in Aylesbury cos it’s only half hour drive for me. Great job and makes it feel like a new car, my old wheel was so slippery!

They offer a few ways of doing it, well worth it. Note tat the guy said the suede ones need redoing every two years or so, so I went full leather, as good or better than OEM

When you say suede are you referring to the alcantara?

Yeah, it flattens out over time and more effected by sweat and dirt etc, leather more robust

Ah k, was thinking that, sure I'll see how it's wears, will think about all leather next time

Thats true, fingers crossed. When did you get yours done?

Never understood the whole Alcantara on a steering wheel - can't be hygienic ...
