Hey all

So I took delivery of my S4 avant st the end of may and there's just one thing that's been niggling at me.. the mirror caps.

I have mythos black ,black pack, privacy windows with black interior, Matt titanium RS wheels and I cannot work for the life of me why they put shiney silver / chrome mirror caps in this beast!

I think I'd like to change them to either body colour or carbon.

So my thoughts are

Buy some OEM primed mirror caps and have my local body shop paint them.

Buy some oem carbon fibre mirror caps £££

Buy some 3rd party oem fit carbon fibre mirror caps

Or just leave it alone and get used to it!

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome..

I went the other way, i spec'd the black pack on my Daytona S4 and ended up with gloss black mirrors caps.
(I think Mythos black is the only colour that retains silver with the black pack)
I knew I wanted sliver, so I bought OEM and got the dealer to change them prior to collection.
I have a set of new OEM black covers, which I haven't got around to selling.
I was going to get them hydro dipped in carbon as I thought it would make them easier to sell.
PM me if your interested mate (I won't be looking for Audi prices!)

That's interesting because whenever I spec the black pack on the configurator it automatically applies the black wing mirrors on the S4? I'm not a fan of the silver wing mirrors either so if it appears with them I won't be happy after selecting black wing mirrors on my configuration!

Silver indicates it's a performance Audi. Just like on the Golf R. I have an S3 that I collected last week and I have the black edition and I have black mirrors but want silver. But I'm just not convinced about the price - cheapest I can find is £299!

Either have them wrapped in carbon fibre or just have the original ones sprayed. I wouldn't have thought it necessary to purchase new ones...

I quite like the silver mirror caps, they go well with the rails and window surrounds, not a fan of the front grill being grey but don't mind the silver trim, would prefer that to be black packed.

I think its a trade mark of the model and would keep the silver.Unless of course your deleting the model badges to remain low key in which black would be the way to go.

I've only got the grill badge to keep it understated, but the 4 exhausts and silver caps let the connoisseur's know what it is ;)

thanks for the feedback guys, ive managed to get a 'never to be repeated' deal from a local dealer on some genuine carbon caps.

although the silver does indicate a performance model lets not forget these can be bought for other models too! im happy to take the stealth look and people potentially not know its an S4 :)

i like to be 'unique'

for me its aesthetics and on my black on black on black on black car im not a fan of the silver :) (but ill probably keep the silver should i ever sell the car!)

My personal view is that on a black car, leave them alone.

Any other colour Id consider black or carbon as a contrast. :racer:

I actually think the silver mirror caps make the rims pop more. I am doimg the opposite i have black mirror caps and im changing them to the silver mirror caps to make my new 20in rims pop out more it draws the eyes up to the rest of car. But my body shop is telling me that just changing the mirror caps is very difficult and the mirror might break. They are telling me that usually when they get side mirrors they get the whole assembly with mirrors and not just the caps to replace. Im wondering if thats true or if changing just caps isnt really that risky and maybe i should go to another body shop?

I really like these... You say that you got them from an Audi dealer directly? What's the part number so that I can ask my dealer about them?

They look awesome.

I'm not sure I like it personally with the silver one the plastic underneath kinda goes as a constrast, I'm not sure the carbon goes with the plastic underneath. But I'm not a big fan of Carbon Fiber.

again thanks for your feedback.

I totally know where your coming from as from your picture you don't have the black pack so provide a perfect contrast as you have chrome around your windows etc.

Thanks for this. My overall build came out £250 cheaper than the original price due to some of the new packs and things with the MY18 changes so might see if they'll throw a set of these in for free potentially... :)
