Aggressive Wheel Fitment Thread

£1650 is a great price and I really would have taken them right now but just can't stretch to it right now. Going on holiday in 2 weeks so need cash for that and the subsequent credit card bill that will follow... dammit.. :(

oh no....not so good.. at least you tried....now I have a dilemma though... buy your Vossens and get a divorce or just wait it out and save up...:banghead:

They would look gooood on the black

Id like to use this thread to start documenting different setups and finding out which setup works best.
Some people like slammed and tucked, while others care more about drivability and maintaing almost close to stock setups. My predicament is that I lean more towards the stance , i want a lil poke,, but i, more of a coilover/handling guy and still need the ability to tear up the mountain roads aggressively. On my previous car i ran an aggressive setup with wide wheels, and although it looked good, it killed the drive. This time around id like to find that happy medium between stance and driveability

This thread isnt about personal preference, and i hope it doesn't get derailed because of that and/or Mono.Pur . The outcome of this thread is to document different setups and find out
  • the most aggressive setup you can run without any fender mods,
  • which setups required fender rolling,
  • and what setups work for slammed/stanced look.
  • it also seems like the sedan s3 can run a more aggressive setup than the hatch
  • Issues with rear wheels hitting struts on wider wheels. (has anyone succesfuly run a 10.5?)
  • Oil pan issues on lowered cars similar to the 8P guys.
If your interested in posting your setups, please provide wheels specs tire sizes, suspensions mods, fender mods etc.

So far, Rabbit222's car is running the most aggressive setup (that ive come a cross) on this site.

His specs:
20x8.5+40 plus a 10mm spacer
235/3520 tire size.
No fender mods, no rubbing.

I think his car is one of the nicest S3's out there. There are more aggressive setups out there, but the Ch-R titanium wheels on sepang blue S3 go unbelievably well together that. Plus i understood that this setup has no rubbing issues and maintains driveability. Win.

Now out in the land of the rising sun, probably one of the first modified S3's and the only true "aggressive" setup out there.

This set up is super aggressive and not for the faint of heart. Those rear fenders were pulled out 15mm to accommodate the larger wheels. I think this looks bad ***. definitely an aggressive setup.

Another Setup in Japan that has me going nuts is this one. unfortunately i couldnt find the exact specs but the setup seems similar to Rabit222's setup.

Does anyone know the clearance of the struts for the S3 sedan?

I am thinking of a 19x9 ET45, which adds 9mm on the inside, 17mm outside

It could be trial and error. I had some 19x9 ET52 TT wheels and they did fit however the poke on the hatch was too much on the front. Perfect on the back. Didn't foul the strut either.

Was kind of hoping someone had the measurements of the stock wheel to the strut

Has anyone fitted wider/staggered rear wheels to an 8v hatchback?

I'm looking at wheels that are 8.5/ et42 front and 9.5 et45 rear, but don't want silly stretch or sticky out wheels!

If you have a look near the top of the thread, you'll see Marc18's car. That's the only hatch I've seen with an 8.5 / 9.5 staggered set up.

Saw that, but he said the offsets are wrong on those?

In the end I was too scared to try anything wide, and ended up trying some Rota Grid Drifts. They are 19x8.5 Et45 and fill the arches pretty well without any spacers etc.

@Steph67 can I ask about the bolts you used on your BBS? I've got a box of longer bolts given to me by the previous owner, did you use the existing locking nut? The Audi ones will thread a couple of turns. Thanks in advance!

No, got some longer ones. The stock ones are too short, you only get about 3.5 to 4 turns with the new wheels. From memory I think you should have at least 7.25 turns on each bolt.

Thanks for a great thread and lots of info guys!

I recently purchased an S3 8V Sportback. Running stock suspension and intend to keep it that way.

I quite like the look of the Audi "Rotor" wheels. I'm on a budget so looking at getting them second hand. Options I've found online are below. Been thinking 235/35/19 tires for all of these.

8V RS3:
Front: 19x8.5 ET 53
Rear: 19x8 ET 50

8P RS3:
19x8 ET 50

A4:
19x8.5 ET 43

Based on the info in this thread my understanding is that all of these would fit my S3 and not cause rubbing etc. Could someone confirm this?
Spacers are unfortunately not an option here in Finland as they're illegal.

Also, has anyone tried the wider front tires on an non-RS3 8V? Effects on handling?

New wheels this year.
19x9.5 et40 all round

Oh wow, way to bring this back from the dead. This thread on the other forum took off, whilst this one slowly died.
Since im on here now, ill share my latest setup

Wheels are the RS4 V spokes in 20x9+26. Fenders are pulled, and running camber front and back to get these wheels to fit with a rub free ride.
Quite please with how they turned out. Look awesome in real life, pics dont do them justice.

I'm looking for an upgrade of my wheels on my ladys S3 8V. It will get a H&R lowered springs.

I wish to use 255/30-19 or 255/35-19 tires.

But I'm not sure about the wheel size.

I'm looking at the Roitiform SPF in Silver, since I can get a very nice deal on this.

They have 8,5x19 et35/45 and 10x19 et45.

The safest choice would probably be 8,5x19 et45 with 255/35-19,
but is it possible with a more agressive look without problems.
I do not want to roll or pull fenders.

Will 8,5x19 et 35 with 255/30-19 fit?

Have ordered Rotiform SPF 8,5x19 et45 now, should 255/35-19 Michelin PSS work great there?
