Hey All!

After years of lurking around the A3 8V forum I'm moving across after ordering an A4 Avant Black Edition yesterday!

Very excited but don't know if I can cope with the Oct/Nov delivery date

It's a 3+23 lease deal through Select Car Leasing - very impressed with them so far and best deal around

Spec is Ibis White, 1.4 TFSI manual with Tech Pack and extended interior LED pack

Yet to see one in the flesh but there is some fantastic information and photos here which are appreciated!

Looking forward to the delivery countdown and information gathering

Cheers guys :)

As someone who's very much into `detailing` and I like my cars to be clean, shining and bright...I find the `Black Edition`...any black edition, well, just dirty.
Each to his own I suppose.
You have gone for the right engine though!

Congratulations dude. It was this time last year I was counting down to the build date!
It will soon be in your hands!

Congrats! Same as myself without the extras. Seems to be a few 1.4 been ordered lately. Did you actually test drive a 1.4 TFSI?

Those rotors do look nice ... though I suspect are Kerb magnets judging by the state of some on B8's seen close to home . Diamond cut look the dogs b's, but keeping that way is tough as can only recut the rims once... (I have 20" on my BMW that will go back.. all 4 kerbed within 2 yrs... twice due to emergency services forcing into side of the road.. I don't complain as life is more important..)

Not sure what you mean Kestrel - I've had a white car for 3 years now and no trouble keeping it spotless?

Cheers PhxViper - I'm not normally patient but it'll be worth the wait. Hoping end September tbh!

Rocksteve69 - No didn't test drive for the first time ever! I've not had a petrol for years either but the 1.4 was dictated by budget and all the reviews are that its a cracking engine (seconded by RaZA4!)

BrandonWilliams - we might be tandem builds! thanks for the pic btw

Nham68 - yeah I've been worrying already. The 17s on my A3 are a mess, I blame the very tight works QPark. New car not for work so :)

Cheers everyone! Forgot how great this wee community was :)

What I mean is that I like my cars to be clean, shiny and cheerful. The `Black Edition` cars with their black wheels, black grill and other black bits and pieces just look dead dull to me. Its possibly an `age` thing...for example I have chrome highlights on my door handles which I think are fab, but a while back there was a thread from some chaps (probably young whippersnappers) wanting to know how to remove them!
Yeah, white is a lovely colour to keep clean, I agree. :)

Ah I see what you mean. I've had chrome trim on almost every car up to now so fancied a change. Haven't seen it in the flesh yet but I think the piano black features where it would be chrome on other models

I've liked the black edition models for years but never had the chance to get one...

The Ibis White colour choice should brighten things

Am I still a whippersnapper at 43? ;)

Might give you an idea of what it looks like in the wild ... aside of the wheels I think the appearance is similar

Errr, no!
Not an `old fart` like me either.
An `inbetweener` I'd say!

I was once described as a 'wayward teenager' by my daughter when I was 57, I think I am getting worse as I get older :)

I have been told that I am getting old before my time; I'm 21 and gone from a hot hatch to the saloon. I have made it look as sporty as humanly possible though haha. I just love the look overall of the car and got an awesome deal.
Roll on Sept!

That's it about the A4 that appeals to me though, it can be a wolf in sheep's clothing...

I had Audi call around all the North East Audi dealers to find a test A4 with 1.4 engine and went to test drive it. I was very surprised how quick for a 1.4 it picked up even when not in dynamic mode and considering I drive a V6 BMW put a smile on my face. Can't wait to get the car and have some fun on the B roads :)

I am coming from a Diesel Manual A180 A Class with 106bhp, this being my second car a 1.4 S-Tronic i am very intreguied to see how it goes.. id love to hear from anyone that has run one in to see mpg etc.

OK, sweet smooth refined engine and enough torques so will pull as good as your A Class but with no diesel rattle/vibrations and no stinky hands when you fill her up. MPG should be 40+, I seem to mange to get it to creep up when I'm in town so weird (or good driving).

Cheers RaZ, 40mpg sounds great, currently getting 55 out of my merc.
But im looking forward to going full circle and going petrol and auto now : )

I would love S-Tronic as I have driven a couple of VW's with DSG, didn't mention I have re-discovered revving an engine after over 10 years of diesels, don't get me wrong you can drive the 1.4 on torque with no need to exceed 2,500rpm.

Exactly my experience with the engine in the A3, almost 'diesel like'. Mind you I experimented with a tuning box and that made things very interesting....

Glad to hear someone else my age has gone for an A4. I'm 25 and getting the 'oh getting ready for kids are we?' jokes.

Just looking forward to cheaper running costs than my 235 and the best interior sub £40k
