Squeaking brakes

This is easy to fix and don't wait for Audi to do it for you. Myself and many others had this in 8P cars and waited ages for the official fix, which wasn't perfect when it was eventually released. I had this too in the 8V and sorted it out myself very easily. Instructions are given in this thread: Report RS3 TTRS brake problems - see 45bvtc's post. Basically, get mintex self adhesive shims off ebay, remove the wheels and pads, clean/apply shims, refit - happy days with no squealing. Piece of **** to do with minimal tools/hassle/cost.
........did the same on mine. At first they still squealed a bit but when I had it serviced the garage applied some more off the anti squeal paste & they have been perfect since.

A lot ;) Audi wanted £1300 just for the discs (all 4) so I upgraded instead for a bit more!

Yep that's one way to stop the squealing.
God they look good mate.
Did you ever get your wheel fixed after kerbin it?

Nope :-( kerbed within first 2 weeks! As there is no spare and they need the wheel for a few days there isn't really an easy solution as I use the car every day. It pains me every time I see it though :-/

I can imagine, I am surprised with that price from Audi as its £950 for fronts alone with pads?

What mileage did you get out of the first set of discs? I have 8500 on the S3 and Audi said they are only 10% worn, not so sure about that haha.

Car is used daily so up to 30k now over 19 months. Fronts were lipped apparently and rears ok so could have probably just done fronts + pads as you say.

I no what you mean mate, I kerbed mines, only slightly mind but it was there and I no how much it annoyed me.
I'd if probably still ran with it but thought while it was in getting detailed again I'd get it refurbed, turns out I had to get all 4 done again to get a paint match,
I got them done Matt black instead of high gloss. F$$k knows why mind.
But hyho it's done.
I'd like to go down your route with the discs, they fill the wheel nicely.
Did you put new decals on your calipers?

Bet difference is night and day.
Did you fit them yourself?
So spill the beans TX, how much for the full kit including fitting if you don't mind me asking.
What other mods have you secretly done also?

I'll pm the cost although not a secret I guess as it's all as per Tom's sticky thread on here. Difference in the brakes is mighty yes, only poor part of the RS3 imho.

Good man, take it she's a keeper after the 3 year mark.
Thanks TX

I honestly love the car, see no reason to change and wouldn't have a clue what comes close for the money even if I did fancy a change.

Yep I get you on this one mate, mines is going no where,I was in the right place at the right time. Awesome car and I'm lucky to have it,you don't see many in Nardo.
A lot of dreamers on here with the new RS coming out Iv noticed.
But each to there own and all that.
Be interesting to see the 2019 new platform.

Couldn't agree more. Got my Panther black cleaned over the weekend after two months...it was FILTHY! It looked stunning parked up and sounds the part too. I get so many positive comments from people including a dad who was with his two young sons who commented "that's a proper smart car there, lads!"

Ah right fair enough, surprised you went through a set that quick to be honest but at least you have fixed the dreaded brake quibbles.

I was thinking about debadging mines also while the front honeycomb grill was being replaced and the boot lid being ceramic coated but I clean forgot to mention it to the guys doing the work.

Debadging an RS3 is completely pointless. There's two ruddy big drain pipe sized exhausts hanging out back, never mind the noise. People who would know what an RS3 is will know regardless of a badge!

True but there's always the one that doesn't,getting back into my car after it being away for over three weeks was great. The noise from it changing down the gears before opening it up to go across the Kincardine bridge was epic. Made me smile :chuncky:

I get a lot of people looking at the back of it as they walk past so they may like the look of it just don't know what it is!

I have had virtually no boy racers on my tail either over 19 months which I also put down to no badge.
