Facelift Lack of DSG Fart?

Hi All

So I've noticed recently that regardless of what mode the car is in, sometimes it will not 'fart' on the change of gear from 1st to 2nd. I know that when using launch control it doesn't do it at all however when I'm driving 'spiritedly' and when the car is being accelerated hard enough to warrant a 'fart' sometimes it doesn't do it.

It's only just started doing this and had always farted before hand.

*Please note, I know that the fart depends on how hard the car is being driven and this is not a factor.

Just wondered if it's anything to worry about as it's never been like that before.

Do you use kick down? If you kick down it doesn't fart, you need almost full throttle in 1st quite aggressively from the off and don't relent just before it changes up but not foot to the floor

No new fuel. Also pretty sure kick down expresses the DSG fart noise too? I'm 95% positive any time I use kickdown it farts. Maybe not though and if so that'll be why.

I think it's a characteristic of the car. My PFL does it sometimes too. Also depends on how hard you're really getting onto the throttle, you can still get the car up to 5kRPM+ and still not have it fart depending on how aggressive your throttle is.

Yeah I can second this. It's not all about the revs, it is also how fast / hard you get to those revs.

Farts using kick down. Tried it today. Any time it's not done it I have been flat to the floor, like I said in my OP: I'm aware that how you drive it can determine whether/how loud it farts.

The way l see it... If farting is high on your agenda.... Lol engine /exhaust sound you've bought the wrong car @Sam Millar you should have got a used RS3 or waited on the new car coming early next year ....either that, your honeymoon period with the cars sound is over...stop farting on a regular basis.... Just do on occasion and it will sound all the better.... Lol

Not much of a farter myself lol as you tend to be hitting very illegal speeds...once your in full flow lol

Its all about the boost I think....if you build it well and release even on a short burst it should fart nicely. Mine goes off like a gunshot in Dynamic in any gear when I give it the beans lol
I now see what the obsession is with your pano-roof @jassyo06 lol.....me thinks a microphone in the seat wired up to the soundaktor/fake engine blaster could produce some unexpectedly spectacular results!!! lol

Lol...l did'nt buy the car for the artificial sounding farts....lol....**** the Mrs after some green Beans on full attack puts the S3/RS3 to shame mate

Here is one for ye ....we just finished with the meet n greet....in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport....2 weeks ago.....here is me standing outside the Terminal doors...havin a fag....when l hear this.....horrendous noise in the distance....it gets closer...closer....its within eyesight now......its a Lamborghini Aventador Super Veloce.....and a Aston Martin......Vanquish Carbon Edition,driving through the semi enclosed Canopy of the Terminal...What a ****** sound the Lambo made mate as it slowed down at each speed bump....taking each bump around 2 mph....King Kong after some Brussel Sprouts could'nt fart as loud and as deep as this monster....lol.....Awesome start to my holiday....lol

once I got past green beans....you then had me at King Kong! pmsl!!!
those are some proper fart machines mate! must have been epic...great start to the hols lol have a good one! I shall prey for no green beans at the buffet

I can't get mine to fart consistency. It normally happens when i don't expect it too and I only had it a handful of times. Would be good to now how to get it to fart on demand.

I only know on the Volkswagen DSG boxes, but I do know that audi's S'tronics are more prominent at make the noise.

If you drive in the evening, make sure everythings set to 'dynamic' accelerate with about 70% throttle and shift around 5000 revs without taking your foot off the accelerator, keep it as it is. WOLLA. Oh and make sure engines warm

Get a decatted full miltek, and get a hybrid turbo running high boost levels then your car will sound like a loud farty fart farting farts out

Quick observation on this - I have noticed that during the recent hot weather my car stopped making the noise, almost completely.

So weather / heat of engine must be contributing factors too.

Mine wasn't fully warmed up earlier (very nearly was) got a couple of nice farts with the car in dynamic and in D, pulled away, car changed at about 6k and got a nice one from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.

I find the noises alright without the res delete, either windows up or down. It farted under a bridge the other day, that sounded pretty decent.

My car is close to 6000 miles now its sounding better than when I bought it. Not sure if I'll do a res delete now.

I've not been driving my car hard but I find it doesn't fart as much as my R did. When it does it's louder. But my R would always fart if I got the revs high and the S3 isn't as much. Again not doing it often as taking it easy on a new car but I have noticed that it's not giving me one.

Interesting to read this thread as was wondering why when doing a launch control there are no farts, I guess because foot is planted and its shifting quite late then?

I like mine to fart in the Hindhead Tunnel (which is just over a mile long).

I have my exhaust valves open with res delete and here farts all the time at low RPM 1500-3000 range
