How many miles did you get from a full tank (all engines welcome)

Thought it might be interesting to see what kind of mileage people are getting from their A3's.
I know it's not like for like due to driving styles and type of driving (motorway, city etc) but nonetheless...

Maybe a consistent format so everyone can compare:-

Model: Sportback
Gearbox : S Tronic
Engine: 1.4 COD

Mileage achieved: 578

Gearbox : Manual
Engine: 1.6 Diesel
Mileage achieved: 560 - Max on DIS iv seen on a run is 61mpg. Averaging 56mpg ish in normal day to day driving.

Hang on! you got 578 for a 1.4 petrol? petrol tank must be bigger than the diesel range of A3!!!

I only got my car last week and wanted to test out the economy. My results weren't really representative of what I would normally get because I was driving like a pensioner.
I've filled up another tank and am going to drive 'normally'. Will be happy if I can get 500

Best over 500 miles easily.

Usually refill weekly so every 400 miles with 175 miles remaining so 575 miles per tankful could theoretically be achieved. 95% m'way driving. I've found the tank reading is like an inverted triangle, hangs around the max to 3/4's for approx 200 miles then 3/4's to 1/2 is 300 miles covered etc.

Mileage: Usually on for over 400 but I fill up before I hit it. If I have a particularly heavy amount of town driving then around 350.

Average mpg over 13 fill ups is 38.49- bit of a come down from the 59mpg I was getting from my 2.0 184 Leon!

Crikey that's good! I have the same car, Facelift and the best I've had so far from the 1,800 miles I've covered has only been 460.

That did include a 450mile (estimate) round trip on motorway, so not entirely representative of my usual commute.
I've only just filled up my second tank so this will give me a better idea of what I will normally get (which will probably be similar to your figure)

Never check miles per tank. Long term mpg about 51.

Had a puncture and keeping to 50mph i managed 72 mpg indicated on my 12 mile cruise to golf on Saturday.

The Mrs has a Golf GT TDi remapped at 206BHP and we rarely get less than 600 miles to a tank, best 640. You can imagine the grief I get at the pump station.

....."we can travel twice as far in the Golf as we do in the S3 for the same money"

....."yeh, but we have three times as much fun"

So in summary, you'll always get better MPG with a diesel but you'll have a nicer drive in a petrol, especially if its an STronic (in my opinion!).
