What is the official Inspection Service schedule for the A4? The Audi Website says every 2 years or 19,000 miles yet Lookers in Hamilton are texting/email reminders now even though the car is 11 months old.

It depends on which type of servicing your car has been set up for. Check on the MMI and see when the servicing is due according to that. If you still have 350+ days you are on Longlife and the DIS will let you know 30 days or 1000 miles before the next service is due.

When I contacted Audi about it, they said it could either be set at 9000 miles, or 19,000 miles. Nothing on time.

But...they said it was my choice. I've paid for a service plan, that if I stick to 19,000 miles will get me 2 services. If I switch to the 9000 miles, I'll get another one. They said to just book it in, and get them to change the service interval.

Mine in on Long Life but I changed the oil and filter last weekend as a interim. Straight forward but it takes about 5.5 litres.

If you've paid for a service plan, lap it up mate and book it in !

It may seem like a dumb question but how did you extract the oil? Did you change filter from below or above? Thanks

I did it with a siphonic oil extractor - via the tube that would have the dip stick.

The filter is done from the top too.

The hardest thing was finding the right oil - Castrol Edge Professional LL IV FE 0W-20 VW 508 00 / 509 00.

I bought mine from a German website.

I've went with fixed intervals but it is the inspection service they are calling about which I think should be every 2 years. The car had an oil service at 9,000 miles, I am at 17,000 just now. What so they do at the inspection service? My partners Skoda had it's 'Inspection service' at a Skoda dealership recently. I put it into a local garage afterwards as the brake disks where scored and lipped, not touched under the Skoda 'inspection service'.

Is there no tradition drain plug on the new a4/s4?

Neither is there is dipstick, although you can purchase one. The common practice for changing the oil in these days of being environmentally friendly is too suck it up out from the dipstick aperture. So pucker up those lips ;-)

Oil extraction pumps are what you need. I am sure somebody can recommend one to purchase...

Mine is a:
Sealey TP69 (10060) Vacuum Oil and Fluid Extractor Manual 6.5 litre

I've used it for three or four years without any problems. It cost about £55.
