Spot on that Did you say you got the Miltek non resonated system btw? Found a couple of vids. Does sound very nice actually and one of the cheaper. Valvetronic?

Yeah I have been. Cheers though. How much was system if you don't mind? Full or cat back?

You can only get catback. The cats are on the headers. System is £1700

Well guys and girls the resonated milltek centre section went on today. Overall I'm really pleased.

In summary it knocks out a lot of the deep sound. It's by no means quiet or 'tinny' you still cant drive in D with the valves open like the OEM sports exhaust.

It has made the switch at 2800rpm in 6th and 7th sooooo much better. That was ridiculous on the unresonated: quiet below 70 and then when you crept above it, suddenly crazy loud.

There is no denying it though the bridge and tunnel window down moments are nowhere near as good.

I've had some success with the projector 'audi beam' puddle lights tonight. I tried some a while ago but the brightness and focus was naff, they got hot and they rattled. So this time around i changed the LED's, mounted the drivers differently, blacked them out to stop light escaping out the side, fitted better heatsinks with the proper chip paste, changed the focus so they are bigger but still crisp and fixed the rattles!

What I like most is that, all of these things bring the RS4 upto date a bit more. Ya know? Especially the interior lighting.

So by training I'm a chartered electrical engineer. I worked on naval radars and missiles. I moved on from that 10 years ago and work in marketing now so cars (and vintage lawnmowers) are my way of doing something tangible and practical for fun rather than work

Vintage lawn mowers?! Wow. Hand in hand obviously haha. Stick an old HEMI in one and see where that goes! Ex military? I'm in the mob myself. Definitely keeps me sane being a petrolhead. Cannot wait to get my RS4. Anything you hate about it?

Yea i'm into my gardening. No not in the forces but working closely with them.

There is nothing at all i hate. I ****** love the thing like i do my children! There are a handful of annoying things that are on most audi's but any annoyance just disappears when you open the sunroof, slip it into S and stick your foot in it

I got these fake carbon bits as templates for a closer to OEM vinyl (which i haven't found yet). These 2 bits of grey plastic annoy me.

Oh and i finally got around to the rear badge.

Someone pm'd to query if i had the spacing between the S and the 4 right. As you'll know by this thread i am a tad OCD so i did quickly scale all the instances (other than engine badge) on my phone before i stuck it down. It's now exactly like the seats which i took as a reference as it would have been templated rather than applied by hand like the rear badge.

I know the S is not right.....

Got the adaptation to make the car remember the gearbox and engine drive select state on start up working:

Before:

After:

It does effect the throttle map and exhaust valves not just the D/S box setting but a cold start will override the exhaust valves to closed and a cycle through the drive select modes in P or a shift into drive from P will be required to open them as per normal Dynamic settings.

So...still a quiet (relatively speaking) cold start? No open valve cold start?

No change to the cold start at all. Just now the valves open when you put it in drive rather than having to cycle the modes. That's ideal so i can start in P without annoying the neighbours and just put it in drive (which will now be S not D) when the cold start has ended.

Cold start with the valves open is stupidly loud, valves shut is still pretty full on.

Yea. The engine is never running in these 2 vids. Just ignition on to compare the close down and start up states.

I did some videos of the valves pre and post adaptation with cold and warm starts I'll post up later.

I don't have a YouTube channel, just an account i use to host videos to put im here, ebay etc.

Thanks mate. Ordered some new pipework for a custom x-pipe in place of the milltek DP resonators which should work a treat. Hoping to have it done before the RR day. Need to go all out to make sure i beat my bro's 1.4 ibiza on the day

My RS4 went tits up yesterday with the engine management light came on and was running very rough, hopefully just coil packs so should get sorted this week.

Cold start in dynamic with standard coding. Your options for opening the valves are a cycle through the modes or put it in Drive and then pull down to S. Note putting it back in D after this will revert the valves so the only way to make it stick is to cycle the modes:

Next up is the adjusted coding on a cold start in Dynamic. Again the valves shut because the cold start overides the dynamic setting but just putting it in drive opens them because it is in S from start not D. After this the drive select button works as normal to close and open them again:

Last up is a cold start followed by a warm start. The cold start valve operation is tested with the drive select button by a full cycle, it is shut down in dynamic then started again with no changes:

Spot on. Saves cycling through so much. Had to do that all the time in my B8.5 S4. Must admit, the star button on the B9 is pretty handy haha.
