Facelift Don't laugh...saloon boot question!

So I volunteered to wash sisters A3 Saloon as I'm off for a few days.

How do you open the boot from the inside? On my old A4 you used to have the switch button on the drivers door? In this there isn't anything? Resorted to using the key fob button but surely there is a button on the inside of the car somewhere??

I thought the same thing but when I collected mine I asked the salesman. He couldn't find it and asked one of his colleagues who just said there isn't one. I've also had a look and can't see one

UK spec Saloons don't have an internal release button. USA and some EU spec Saloons do. I think its a legal requirement in the USA.

I looked in to retrofitting the button but the part is only available in a left hand drive version, which due to its shape would look odd in a right hand drive car

Not noticed this since taking ownership - bit gutted to be honest! Used to use it all the time in my A5

I used to have a button for my fuel cap which the S3 doesn't have either and it's 11 years newer than my last car

Are you worried about being locked inside? The key fob has a button on it, so just long-press that from inside the car if you need to

It's a shame they didn't fit it to the saloon in the A3 - was so handy.

Can you long press key fob button when key is in ignition? Again something you couldn't do on the A4 etc when key was in the car - but could be as they had a release button?

Remote opening of the boot makes up for it! Just open the boot from across the supermarket car park, just as someone's walking past. The expression on their face is priceless

I see that there is a red emergency release tab inside the boot on the right hand side, it's for the trunk monkey to use.

I can't do that on my current A3, you have to remove from ignition then open.

Could you get the B8 A4 button to fit, as that was available in RHD.

+1, I always through it was the boot but I saw something a month or so ago that made me realise it was the fuel flap... but I can't recall what it was I saw haha.

There is one for both.. the fuel lid in just behind the filler on the inside of the boot.. the one for boot should be just behind the back seat (can't remember which one) when folded..

Just a heads up. Boot cannot be opened if battery is flat. Left me stranded with my battery jumper cables in the boot

Haven't tried it, but could you not put the rear seats down to get into the boot? Or I imagine your jumper cables were under the boot floor which doesn't open that 'way' from the back?

That looks very similar to the one on the A4. Would that not work?

Hi gents. I've found below part for FL 8V. Can anyone tell me the pinouts for connection? I believe 4 pins to be connected Door Module.

Also, i need to make a cut out on door trim for switch. Part Number for switch is 8V0959831B.

Also, is there any long coding change to be done on module itself?

I just ordered the cable i dont know either yet
Maybe have to plug somewhere
So have some patient i will update it here

Well done Do you have the switch board's wiring diagram in interior? I will have to pay someone to install it as well.

thanks philip. Actually if you have the wiring with you know, i appreciate some close angle photos of pins and sockets with wire colors. It looks like you are getting 3 pins crossing to some switch (possibly window switch) and the only pin to be in 23th pin in door module. I will try to mimic your wiring on mine.
