Hello, I'm currently having issues with my new to me Audi a4 2.0tdi 60 plate.

The car has gone completely dead there is no ignition in it whatsoever, the battery has been checked by AA along with a few autoelectricians.. the fuses & relays within the car have also been checked individually and all seems fine.

The issue I'm having is the remote is not working which in result does not unlock the doors, so I have to use the key manually even doing so the alarm does not disarm itself, once the keys in the ignition nothing works apart from the stereo and interior lights. Dash does not light up etc.

There is no ignition it's like the key is not being recognised even though the key has been checked and I'm being told it's fine, but the alarm should disarm itself even if it is done manually with the key rather than the fob.

The car has been scanned using vag com and other machines and it only seems to read certain modules it's not allowing access to any of the others.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm knew to all this, the car has been sat on the street for the last 3 weeks and no one can figure it out.

I would have thought the best thing to do is to get it towed to a good independent garage where they would be able to resolve the problem.
This is for an A5 but the A4 works the same.
You can see if you look at the convenience unit or the start authorisation / entry module how much is in the car and how complicated it is.

If the fault is a tricky one it's not going to be the work of a moment to resolve but depending on what it is may not be that expensive to fix.
Where abouts are you in the country ?

The car has been at an autoelectricians who still can't seem to figure out the fault. All fuses and relays have been checked again. During a vag com scan it's giving the error 01330 no signal communication ccm (j393) & 02095 component protection active.

Could it possibly be a wiring issue? Has anyone come across such a thing? Anything else we would possibly check or look at? Week 5 still no success.

Hi did you look at that document I posted a link to?.
The CCM J393 module is very much tied up with entry to the car and starting of it. If you cannot communicate with the module than it may be dead. You need to prove power to the module. Component protection can only be removed by a dealer or an authorised specialist with access to the GeKo system. Most VAG specialists should have access to the Geko system. You need somebody who knows their way around the Audi systems, even the dealers seem to struggle with these issues. Where abouts are you ?

(central locking, convenient opening and closing, etc.)

Easy fix.

Key reader module. First one I ever diagnosed left my head a mess too! Just didn't make sense.

The key reader unit from another vehicle can be used no coding required. They are also relatively cheap from tps.

Very easy to change aswell just a small trim to remove and a couple of torx screws iirc.

Hi all firstly I'd like to thank you for all your responses. The car has today been sent to an Audi specialist.

The possibility of it being the key module is highly likely. The specialist has and idea of what it could possibly be even though he didn't make it clear to me.

It's my own mistake for allowing incompetent garages to have a look at it who clearly don't have a clue of what's going on. Learning curve I guess.

Therefore the car now is in capable hands should I say, so let's hope there's light at the end of the tunnel.

I also purchased a brand new bcm2 module as I kept getting told it was that, but once the car has been checked over I'll know more and keep you updated.

intersted in the result of this, bought my a4 avant just over a week ago and the remote hasn't worked on two occasions. the first time using the key didn't disarm the alarm, the second time did. Wondering if its a sign mine may be on the way out.

I have similar issue, car totally dead and won't start. Was it your BCM2 module?

Hi did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have the same problem with my 2010 Audi S4 avant. It has advanced key. I went to start it last week with the start button but the battery was too low so when it went to start it clicked then kept trying to start itself about 10 times before I stopped it by putting the key in the slot. Ever since that happened I lost power to cluster that shows mileage ect. Lost power to rear lights and tailgate won’t open.
I plugged in VCDS and on 09- central electrics I had the error no communication with central convenience (BCM2). So I bought a used BCM2 and as soon as I swapped it out I got power back to everything. But now the ignition won’t work as i believe the bcm2 houses the immobiliser.
Is there any way this can be re-programmed to the car. Any help appreciated.

Hi All,

Thought i'd try my luck and see what was the resolution tho this issue.
Was it the BCM or was it something completely different? I'm having the exact same issue with an Audi A5 Cabriolet that is completely dead. Would like to know how the Audi Specialist got this working and which company was used?

Thanks

Yes, would of been nice if OP had updated their own post. Not very helpful.
