Has anybody retrofit the s3 quads on to a tdi 184 quattro?

It seems it should all mate save for a 60-5m reducer?

Also obv a diffuser needed

It would be far cheaper and much less hassle if you just stuck an S3 badge on the back

:wtf: Why? Just buy an aftermarket exhaust if you want four pipes...

So opinions aside will it fit do people know!?

I don't know for certain, but I would very much doubt it is a simple bolt on job.

I have looked at aftermarket exhaust with dual exits for the tdi and they look similar to the S3.

Cant seem to find a pic of the 184 exhaust off the car to compare

I've done this, but afterwards could see everyone mouthing S3 when i drove past..

I had a dilemma to solve, so i jumped into my DeLorian, hit 88mph and corrected the timeline to the present, now, and this time didn't carry out the mod.

Funnily enough with mentions of a diesel S3, one of the boys in college asked me the other week (been out in my car 5/6 times) "this is diesel isn't it?" I took great offence in someone not knowing the difference. I'm all for a diesel, but my S3 DEFINITELY isn't one haha.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't the S3 exhaust setup for a 300hp petrol engine? So wouldn't fitting it to a 184hp diesel cause some engine issues somewhere. I thought exhausts were designed for the vehicle they were being fitted to? So if you want a 4 pipe exhaust on a diesel, wouldn't it be better to get an aftermarket one designed for that engine from one of the specialists listed. Or alternatively why not embrace the diesel loveliness and be happy with you little tail pipe. Envy of Big Tails will get you no where in life and besides it's what you do with it not the size that matters...! :)

As both are turbo charge there will be little to no effect on back pressure etc

There is a siginifcant price difference from an s3 exhaust and an aftermarket, plus aftermarket will increase noise etc which is not desired.

I must comment this is not for me, I have an S5 and SQ5...!

Some people just arent helpfull, anyway i had a standard Tdi A3 Fastback, found all the bits from my pals S3 write off and stuck them right onto it,perfect oil burning S3 :)
As far as the quads go,the s3 back box with pipes wouldnt fit because of the spare wheel encasement,i had 3 options,, 1. buy and aftermarket one, they look *****,or 2. cut away at exhaust box reducing the hieght by about 2 inches or 3. cut away at the underside of the car into the spare wheel compartment,I went for option 3 and patch up the base with a new hightened lid, welded and painted youd never know the diff, the exhaust fitted perfect and works like it should and how it did on the s3,so its doable, takes a little bit of time but youll get there in the end, then stick an S3 badge on it to **** the haters off :)

Put that money in the bank and save up for a S3 and sell your 184
The thing is you have a Quattro, why not just put some stylish little upgrades and map it. You could get that think way faster than a S3 if you wanted to.

Hi so the reces for spare wheel space blocking to install S3 exhaust?
is there any benefit doing this retrofit?

NO it wouldn't be faster ordinary A3 maped max can do 230 or up to 250 bhp S3 is 300 stock and tuned can be 400 bhp
Launch control A3 184 is 7-8 sec and S3 4 sec

On a normal A3 (non Quattro)yes the back box won’t fit, as the spare wheel store is deeper than a S3, as the latter is a Quattro. You will require a custom exhaust it just straight pipe using the S3 tailpipes. However on a 184 Quattro the back box is a straight fit, however you’ll require a custom bracket to join them up from the front, as they differ in a diameter. Not a big job on a Quattro.

No real benefits apart from looks.
