Hi I'm new to the forum, just bought myself an s3 8p 2011 plate that's done 84,000miles. Thinking about getting it remapped. What do you guys suggest? Heard they will push over 300bhp with a remap and nothing else. I want the car to sound a bit louder too, and maybe backfire when letting off the throttle. Would a decat alone do this? Would appreciate any help

My son got 320 BHP & over 330 ft lbs on a custom stage 1 at RTech on his TTS. The decat would need a stage 2 remap.

No way, that's insane. Might go for a milltek non res cat back exhaust and a stage 1 remap if you can get that gain just off stage 1. Thanks

Have a look at BCS Powervalve exhaust systems.

They are a bit dearer but worth it!

The S3 may not go quite so high on a stage 1. The TTS air intake is much less restrictive than the S3. Also the custom map allows the tuner to extract the most from your particular engine. You will not reach this on a generic off the shelf remap either.
The car back will only give you noise not more power. Take care as the non res may be boomy at motorway speeds.

Is the resonated one any louder that the standard exhaust, it's hard to tell off videos

I don't think it is

There was lots of boom to begin with as you accelerate at motorway speeds. However the boominess got less as it got a layer of carbon and soot on the inside.

I had a resonated one and didn't find it significantly noisier.

I do want it a bit noisier so I might take a gamble and go for non res ha

Yeah that's the sounds I want ha. I don't do to much motorway miles so I think the boom won't bother me too much

You could always try one of BCSs creations.

Anywhere from peaceful to riotous and built to your needs. Lol.

So does getting it Remapped mean I would have to up-rate the brakes and air-intake so that the car doesn't "over work" itself? I've heard just remapping a car without up-rating stock parts can basically damage the stock parts. Sorry if this is all "noobish" questions.

The S3 engine is good for up to 440bhp/440lbs on stock parts but to get there would also need a complete exhaust and intake upgrade plus HPFP and mapping.

Essentially the engine itself is very robust.

At 360bhp it's well worth uprating the brakes and also the suspension as the car is heavy and prone to understeer.

The easiest way to begin is a Stg1 remap which would get you to around 310bhp or a bit more with no additional mods and is an easy way to see if the modding bug bites.

The best overall value is either Stg2+ at around 360bhp or a hybrid turbo for around 420bhp but you do need a lot of other bits.

As I said , mine was a full custom build and as prt57 has said,the stock systems are cheaper.

Depending on where you live, R-Tech in Hinckley would do an excellent job to give you a custom remap to suit your car.
From a generic remap point of view, APR could be the way forward but they are more expensive.

I can only recommend those I know or have used,so I'd say Storm Developments at Aldermaston or AMDTuning in Lakeside plus Rick at Unicorn.

No probs.....they've done me proud over a good few years,and the bottom end of the engine has coped very well with all that's been thrown at it,so the work there was to a very high standard,and when it was stripped and checked recently,it was all looking fine(that was done at Storm,so that's another tuner's comments on AMD's work).

If you are looking for a catback I'd say go custom or a different brand, miltek quality is poor, Iv had two and had to have both fixed, the first one split where the pipe connects to the back box 2 weeks old and then the second time the baffle in the back box collapsed

Ahh no way, I've just bought it now I'll see how it goes and I'll get my money back if anything goes wrong

mine's been alright, its been installed for like 2 years and a half, no issues

It should be OK,even if a weld fails.
I had a Milltek for some years,and even when a weld on the backbox failed a long time after I bought it,they replaced the entire box free of charge and with no questions.

BCS do make better systems,but Milltek will suffice.

Quick update, the milltek non res was fitted today, it sounds awesome, not too loud at all but makes it sound so good on boost. Custom Remap is booked for Monday so hopefully all is well with the car and it manages to handle 300+bhp
