VCDS Modifications

If you have pre sense city you can also have lane assist.
There arent many things you can do but the ones available are quite cool
needle sweep
lap timer
cornering lights
lane assist
video in motion (there is an app inside obd11 that will do it for you for 100 credits) not sure what is the coding for it
high beam assist

i have done all of the above apart from VIM as i havent got tech pack.

bought it from https://obdeleven. com they have a promo now so its slightly cheaper and comes with 200 credits as well
Hi, I have just ordered the OBDEleven, are these all one touch coding that are available so far? Or do they require long coding?

Ok, so I've pulled together the instructions I followed from the AudiWorld forum post and summarised it for how I enabled Lane Assist on my UK spec A4 with Tech Pack but without Side Assist. I'd strongly advise using a pen and paper to record all the changes you make, so that you can retrace your steps if you go wrong. You will need OBDEleven Pro to make these adaption and coding changes.

This is what I did:

Part 1: Coding Changes

Module A5 (Frt Sens / Drv Assist) - You will be prompted for a Security Code to make changes to the coding in here, use code 20103. OBDeleven helpfully remembers this code if you come back to this module later.

  • Set HC to 'Active'
  • Set EFP to 'Active'

Module 17 (Dash Board)
  • Set Lane Assistant to 'Active'

Module 09 (Central Electrics)
  • Set Heading Control Config to 'heading_control'

Module 44 (Steering Assistance)
  • Set Heading Control Assistant to 'Active'

You will probably have some error / warning lights on the dash by this point. Don't panic - continue on until the end and they should all clear!

Part 2: Adaption Changes

Module 5F (Information Electronics) -

Find 'Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2' and make the following adaptions within it:
  • Set Menu_display_Lane_departure_warning to 'Activated'
  • Set Menu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning_over_threshold_high to 'Activated'

Find 'Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2' and make the following adaptions within it:

  • Set LDW_HCA_0x19 to “Activated'
  • Set LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus to “Terminal 15

Module A5 (Frt Sens. Drv. Assist)

  • Set BAP Personalization to “Not Activated
  • Set Personalization of lane dept. warning Cl. 15 to “Last Setting
  • Set System mode, lane depart. warn to “Selection via menu
  • Set Switch-on condition, lane depart. warn. to “On

You may need to toggle the switch-on condition between 'On' and 'Selection Via Menu' a few times before it activates. On my car nothing appeared to have changed either in the Virtual Cockpit or MMI menus until I switched it all off and left it for 30 minutes. When I next turned on the ignition I could see the lane indicators on the dash, and the MMI menu had appeared under the Driver Aids menu. If you still have error messages displayed on the dash then it's likely you did something wrong, retrace your steps and double check your coding!

From the AudiWorld post there are also some settings to adjust the wheel vibration intensity, warning times and steering effort. I've not tried these yet so I don't know if they work, but I've included them for completeness:

Customisation Settings - Module A5 - Adaptions

Directional stabilization assist driver inact deactiv threshold (3 options)

Directional stab. assist.: intensity: steering wheel vibration (3 options)

Directional stab. assist.: intensity: power steering support (3 options)

I've had Lane Assist enabled for about a month now, and I don't find it too intrusive. If you did want to disable it again you'd need to change some of the settings back using OBDEleven (I'd guess changing Switch-on condition, lane depart. warn. to 'Off' would do it).

Hope that helps, i'll try and help where I can but this is the first time i've had any real experience of modifying anything!
Hi mate when I get the bap personalisation and enter the code it comes up with nothing. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Can you post a screenshot? Once you've entered the access code it should allow you to change the 'BAP Personalisation' setting. Not sure why it is coming up blank.

Hi all, does anyone know If there is a code available to enable the visual aid for the parking sensors? I only have the Beeping currently. is there anywhere where all the codes that are available are all in one place?

Anyone managed to get the Gear Selection shown in the Headup Display (HUD)?

I found coding to enable Lap Timer on the Q7/4M which added timer/gear/oil temp to the HUD but I don't want to have that all the time.

Well I enabled Lap Timer on the A4 with VCDS which worked but still no Gear Indicator in the HUD even when laptimer is running.

Anybody else managed it ?

Obdeleven turned up today. Great bit of kit for the money. Managed to get a few bits done, going to give lane assist a go tomorrow.
Hill hold assist is available on my wife's 2017 A3 as an app so must be a way of doing it on our cars.

They seem to be.

I'm only after locking beep though.

I have no interest with vim, and lap time is enables as standard. I need to check on the auto activation of the front parking sensors as if that not already on I'll want that too. Not sure there's much else I'd do and I'm not sure it's worth the money to buy VCP for two mods.

No problem glad you got it sorted! I'm really struggling to get lane assist to work without getting the pre sense fault at the minute. :-(

Anyone found the coding for rear lights always on?

Hi Snow Addict, noticed you mentioned your in the Peterborough area, I'm from here aswell Hampton area and I'm looking to get the Sweeping dials on my A5 B9, is there anyway of checking the app to see if they support the new model yet?

I don't have the app or the device so I was hoping if it is there you don't mind doing it :)

No problem, I'll check it out when I'm back home on Monday and let you know. Don't mind doing it for you if it's available

I have done this on my B9 using VCDS

That's great thanks, the standard motion looks ok but after seeing them mentioned in this thread and on videos it's quite a nice feature to have.

Was this on a A5 Coupe B9? I wasn't too sure as the models only really been released if it was available, guess as the A5 is virtually an A4 It was be very similar coding

It is an A4 B9, no labels on VCDS so just changed the right byte

ah right, not looked into VCDS too much, the app seems easier to use, defiantly after the needle sweep, maybe lane assist

I presume the speed limit recognition works off the same camera as pre sense so can this be coded in too? Or is there extra hardware required for that?

I have just got the app yesterday. It should be easier as it has the labels - I have just had to report an issue to support as one of he modules I want to access is giving an error and has no labels!

Can you share your long coding for Central Electrics please? OBD11 just arrived and I have no labels on this module! Support say it will be a month until it is fixed as they are waiting for a new DB from Audi.

I'll try and grab it this week and post it up.

Do you have VC? I don't know sure if this coding with needle sweep works with Virtual Cockpit :-??
Thanks!

Needle Sweep works fine with the Virtual Cockpit :)

I'm not in UK nor EU where we have no regulations for DRL..

Ah, I see, I also thought the drl's on the A4 were one of the best things. Do you have separate indicators as well?

Either VCDS or OBD11, thx!

@cuke2u Same setup as UK
I was going to suggest activating the DRL sub menu within the exterior lighting main menu, to allow the DRLs to be toggled on and off but VCDS cannot do this. ODBeleven will not be able to do this unless there is an app for it.

Only other way to turn off the DRLs would be via the related adaptation channels within 09 - Cent Elect. There might be a global DRL channel but most likely you will need to change each bulb to be off. Am not sure what channels need to be changed off hand. If you can generate an adaptation map of 09 and post it up / pm it I can work out whats needed.

My "queue" is a bit stacked up at the moment so there will be a delay in my getting back to you.

Hi DJAlix, don't suppose you know how I'd go about enabling the visual aid for the rear parking sensors? Currently I've only got a beeping.
Cheers

This is something I actually need to test, along with the same feature for the FL A3. The coding side of things I need to test myself before releasing as I don't want to supply bum information that might cause issues, but also mostly because VCP or ODIS is needed. The only other known way to do this is to change / upgrade the park assist module.

Don't suppose you are near London at all are you?

Just north of London, happy to travel though

Found another useful tweak, let the MMI use your phone's tethering dataconnection through wifi/bluetooth:

F5 VEHICLE CONFIGURATION
ADAPTATION

Vehicle configuration
wifi_client_hmi -> activated (was “not activated”)

Currently this is disabled and you can only use it the other way (where the car tethers it's data through wifi). This is very useful to me as i have a more than sufficient monthly 10GB data plan for my phone, now i don't need an audi dataplan or a seperate simcard anymore.

All online stuff still needs a licence from Audi though.
I have done this but the network search is greyed out.....any ideas if something else needs to be done as well?
