Bang & Olufsen lighting

Here you go, Sepang Blue.

Also come in red, white and silver.

I got mine at a reduced price. A few are selling them on eBay now I think.

They are nicely made with a thin strip of 3M adhesive on the back and fit flush.

Nicer than the ones in the new FL in my opinion.

Not all will like them but I do :)

They're totally spiffing mate ;)

Might even go for some red ones to brighten things up I'm sure the missus won't start foaming at the mouth with that small amount of red! lol

Hmmm not bad indeed! :)

Can those illumination speaker mods be added to non-B&O setups?

Not easily mate you'd have to buy the complete door casing to get the B&O speaker grille that has the light lens and the trim panel that has the channel in it for the fibre optic light guide.

Thanks Rob for the DIY. I did the light to backdoor also. Works fine. But I used the 2mm optic fiber and it does not light that bright but it works. I think I will try later with 2.5mm or 3mm.
And actually you don't need to remove the grill just push the fiber inside the "hole" and it will go to the end and the you cut it. And I just put some insulation tape around the end so it will stick in the led module.

Today I wired up my rear left door B&O tweeter as part of the full B&O retrofit and whilst the door card was off I wired up the LED B&O strip as per your mod Rob.
As chance would have it I got the polarity wrong on the LED illuminator and to my Surprise it glowed red instead of white.

Remembering that you've changed your interior lighting to Red Rob I thought you'd just want to know in case you fancy the red B&O instead of white on your doors :)

cheers

David.

@Rob2k68

Thanks matey - this reverse polarity trick also works with the cup holder illumination ;o)

Aye I'd seen that on the cub holder thread pal, is that how you changed your interior lighting to red just by reversing the polarity?

Rear lighting installed :-
View attachment 91589

Part numbers needed :-
LED module - V8V0 947 356
Harness connector - S8W0 971832
Fibre optic light guide - supplied as complete door trim assembly. I had to improvise from eBay - make sure it's side emitting light and not just end. Diameter 2-2.5mm, length 265mm.
You also need 4 repair wires.

Power wise I cheated a little as I have the ILP and tapped into the interior handle ambient light power supply.

Hi @Rob2k68

For the life of me I can't locate those two Audi P/Ns in the States. I'm looking to retro my 2016 sedan rear B&O doors and nothing shows up on Google. Am I missing something?

Hi mate, I've just checked my parts invoice from Audi and they are correct. If searching in google try 8V0 947 356 for the LED module and 8W0 971832 for the connector and you should find something. Alternatively if sourcing from Audi parts give the parts guy your car vin and tell him you want the same as what is fitted to the fronts.

Many thanks Rob. Those P/Ns did the trick. Much appreciated.

How did you wire this up? With the door module or the window switch wire? If you did the module, can you post your VCD/obd11 adaptation long coding info?

I spliced into the interior door handle ambient lighting - window switch is a good alternative if you do not have this.

Door module way would be best if the rear door module supports this so that it dims via the MMI rather than the dash illumination control dial.

I've been trying to get my lighting to be controlled via mmi with the door modules, but for some reason I can't get it to work.

Thank you @DJAlix! I'm assuming the door module needs to be the "E" variant? I have the 5Q0959592E 5Q0959593E versions however not sure why it just won't "hear" the MMI control commands. When I do an output test, it works and the lights turn on, just the MMI doesn't. Or does the coding need to be changed? Thanks as always.
It seems, as I am yet to test myself, that the door modules need "parameterisation" in addition to adaptation and coding to full support the lighting as per OEM spec. You will need ODIS and an online connection in order to do this, or VAG CAN Professional.

Was your door trim ambient lighting factory ? how did you add them if they were not to the door handle illumination ? o
Or did you get pin 3 working on the rear door modules ?

Hi mate
The ambient lightimg was not factory. I try to recode each door for accept bient lighting but after recode i had no power to pin 3(rear doors) and pin 8(front doors) . Note: the pins exist into units so i was unlucky. Finally i wired them with door handle illumination amd everything is perfect.
I guess ambient lighting act exactly like the door handle illumination. Light ON when unlock the car, stay ON during driving amd can be dimmable with other interior illumination.
I madey door wirrings totally factory!!!:yahoo:cloth tape and oem cables :yahoo:

Ambient lighting was available to 2016+ cars. Maybe my 2015 audi has not the correct door modules to accept coding. We are lucky that our doors have the holder and the cable holders for an oem retrofit.

Another cool retrofit i am love to, is the lock/ unlock buttons to passenger and rear doors. Rear doors have only lock button.

I think there is another thread about this but can’t find it. I realised today my B&O lights only work when the doors are open and the sill/puddle lights are also on. When I close the door they fade off.

I’m sure in my A3 they were always on. At least in the front. Known problem with known fix?

Love to see your lightning ideas, can't get enough of these subtle changes. I was wondering if the lock/ unlock buttons to rear doors is still a project?
I was experimenting a bit since I had an extra button to fit it in the rear doors, but didn't get anywhere. I believe in the Netherlands they are all without buttons so at least you have half a button. Do you have some electric diagram of the rear doors?

Another thing, I managed to get the rear designlight / pin3 to dim via the mmi, its functional now but I don't remember how I got there.
If somebody is interested in it , I will gladly invest some time in it to reproduce the steps , I hope:flushed:

I would be interested, the current solution is to pair them with the door handle lights in the back doors ....

I can only get them to light in test monde when attached to pin 3 and ground
Thanks

alright first of all, All the honours go to Jayjay from motor-talk forum Germany . He's the first I think who figured it out.
Pin 3 (rear door) is correct, if test mode brings them up you have it connected right.
here some links :
Jayjay's video :
the thread on motortalk : Zierleisten mit Ambientebeleuchtung Infos und Nachrüstung
dropbox with coding (in German) : Dropbox

what do you got Vcds ? I did it with obd eleven.
What I do have to say is that you have to shut all the doors while testing, and I switched the headlights on and off and turned the dimmer in mmi max-min-max to turn them on the first time

Hope this is enough but if you want I can translate the steps if you're unsure, don't wanna mess things up.

That’s brilliant thanks ! If I ever get my car back I’ll give it a go it has been into Audi 4 times in the last 2 months .... and at the moment they can’t fix it !

I only have ODB eleven will bave a go if I ever see my car again !

If you need some help when you're working on it , let me know. I am sure it can be done with obdeleven, unless there are differences with the doormodules or some hardware, but since it worked in test mode....

Hi, i´am the Jayjay from MotorTalk :innocent:
Nice too see that my instruction also use here.

Today I finish my B&O Sound System retrofit.
Super nice and Clean sound.

But my light strip in the back is not really shiny bright. Hm so I wait for summer to with better temps for try to fix this.

Best regards

Hey Sebstar/ Jayjay ,

Funny to see that you're active here as well, and thanks for the instructions on the ambient-led-strips.
How did you managed to get this working , just by trying and testing? respect. I needed attempts to get it from VCDS to obdeleven
but step by step I came closer until it worked!

Amazing that you did the B&O retrofit , a lot of work , I think! Yes supersound , have it from factory.
And I also have the problem with the rears B&O speakers without light. I have the original led but the problem is the optic fiber tube
. I ordered some from Alieexpres but it was bad. Two days ago I ordered this 5NA947219A at the dealer, I saw that Iarbel was using it in his car.
It cost some more but it is the perfect white , I will post some experiences / photos when I have it.
