Pardon the pun.
I'm yet to formally introduce myself. I have posted a few times without saying much about my car or history.
I am the proud owner of a a Misano red 14 plate S3 Sportback S-tronic (promise will post some pics) and have been since the end of Oct 2016. I bought used with only 14500 miles on the clock of £25k - I work for a large financial institution and got a good deal on a used PCP plan with work. Couldn't justify the cost of a brand new Audi to my better half! The spec is pretty basic, however I am more than happy with the car and it's my first ever performance vehicle.
Previous cars have been BMW 330CI M Sport, Land Rover Discovery, Ford Escort, Ford Focus ST170, Vauxhall Nova and a few more to boot. I also own a Honda Civic.
I decided to have a Revo air filter fitted to give it some extra sound, which I can say has been fantastic. Wasn't going for extra horses, just some additional noise. At times it sounds like I have a demon living in my glove box, which I happen to love.
The car is under warranty until April this year and so today I thought I'd take it into my local Audi garage to have a passenger seat rattle looked at. They have now fixed this problem which I'm delighted with. I also mentioned that the S-tronic box seemed a little jerky on the downshifts, which they concluded needed a software upgrade which they'd only do if I took off the air filter (fair enough).
Do you think it's wise to do this? It would be free under warranty, would just need someone to take off and put back the air filter as I ain't got a clue.
The car has now done just below 17k mile I noticed from the cars service interval tracker that it's due an inspection and oil change in around 140 days and the service technician mentioned this. He then also mentioned that I'd be due a brake fluid change and my S-tronic fluid replaced and said all in all this would be around £1200 worth of work?? He did say he could try and get me a discount on the labour... something like £85 an hour rather than £130 an hour...
So I went onto the main Audi website and looked at the servicing costs etc. for an S3 and did my own calculations which came to around £700 if I did get all these completed.
Do the servicing costs on the Audi website include labour?
I'm under no illusion that I've bought a performance car, and would expect to pay more for maintenance, however this does seem excessive?
One last question - does it really affect the cars value if you don't go to Audi direct and just use an indie? I know at the end of my PCP I just give the car back, but I may want to part ex in the hope I have some equity to use as a future deposit.
