RS3 Sedan and FL SB availability in NZ confirmed

I have been comparing the current RS3 SB priceless in the UK and NZ vs the new Saloon/Sedan -- it's a bit more expensive but there is a LOT more standard kit (at least in NZ), so I'm not quite sure it's as bad as you may think. Sure, that means the entry price is higher, but I tend to add a few options anyway so not likely to make much difference to me.

Yeah the A45's in Australia were eye watering but included nearly every option as standard

Really does make me wonder why Audi would put this 'upgraded' engine in a FL SB? I mean would anyone really pay 7k extra for bit of a longer body? It's like BMW pricing the M240i 7k dearer than the M140i!
Unless Audi are going to stick a 44-45k price tag on the FL SB?!
Don't think you'll see the SB for a few years man. Have a feeling Audi will be too busy pushing the sedan and that's looking like 2018 for delivery!

I have already heard the new TTRS although just idling in the shop. From my experience sportexhaust sounds less than Milltek catback with deeper tone which is the same as in our RS3, hopefully it feels and is faster with those 33 hp more. I liked the TTRS interior better seems much more modern and updated lik ea mini R8. Would be nice to hear how you feldt driving it.

How is everyone doing? I just wondered if anyone has any news on when the order books will open?

August/September...so not that long to wait

Sounds good to me....waited long enough. The prices of used ones are mad atm! Had a look about at used ones and Audi want ridiculous money!

Not the UK, but order books open in NZ already. First RS3 sedans expected in April. I've seen similar announcements for South Africa, and a bit later for Australia.

My dealer said they're having dealer training in January, and Audi have said the Audi NZ site will be updated early January, not updated yet though.

Just reading the latest Autocar and they have the RS3 SB down to arrive around the same time...

Saloon is the one to have far far better looking....especially if you've got a sportback already

I'm really disappointed with the look of the saloon. Looks wise, the M2 has it licked. Definitely the SB for me, but it's all subjective!

Agree saloon looks very sedate, wish it looked like the clubsport thingy they made instead, hate the wheels of the saloon aswell although nice to see Audi try something different at long last

Have they opened the order books for the SB too?

I've corrected that for ya mate :)

I just can't get my head around the saloon ... yes it looks good, but it feels like it's for an older age group & the sportback looks like a hot hatch. If they don't release another RS soortback I will be pi$$ed as I'm not sure I could spend £50k on a micro saloon.

The S4 saloon on the other hand looks a more proportionate looking car & with the ultra modern interior, that is quite appealing I must confess. That said, you can't beat that 5 cylinder soundtrack ... that alone is a HUGE attraction of the car & may be enough still to get me into an RS3 saloon if it's that or no RS3 !

Let us know how you get on with the test drive in the TTRS. Our 2.0 litre TT feels incredibly quick for its engine size so the RS should be ridiculous lol :)

Sportback owners in thinking the Sportback is the better looking.
Who'd have thunk it.

The heavier engine with reduced power will be better too..........

How was the TTRS Jassy?
Our dealer had a demo, but has just sold it so I missed out on a chance to drive.

Nope, not yet unfortunately!

Did they give you an indication of when the SB will be available?
I was set on the saloon but if the SB is coming it will make my decision very difficult......hmmm

@Craigl the ttrs test drive has been rearranged for this Tuesday, it's a Sales managers car, so it's only available through the week lve also got a drive in the S5 that day aswell, taken the day off work lol

Hi mate l do get yer point with the saloon stigma, but by the time the RS3 comes out l will have waited long enough for a new car and to be honest it's perfect timing for just to trade in my S3 or sell it privately.... I do like the S3 saloon a lot but l don't see that car as a upgrade, l shall post some photos and my opinion of the ttrs on Tuesday it should be awesome lol

I like the RS3 saloon, just think they could have done more with it, I think it's slightly better looking than the SB personally.
As for the power we will see, don't forget there's SB's already that are making 400bhp standard

Let us know about the S5 too pal

There have been some comments that the TTRS is more muted than the RS3 too, so comments on that comparison would also be appreciated.

Only that deliveries for the FL SB will bein third quarter in NZ. Based on that I'd expect orders to be taken around May?

So deliveries will be towards the end of 2017 then I'm guessing. I wonder when they will confirm all the specs......

I was lucky enough to see Audi Ipswich loading a new White TTRS into their showroom today, not sure what it sounds like on the inside but it sounded just as good from the outside as my RS3!
The TTRS looked a lot smaller than I was expecting I bet on the scales it weighs a fair bit less than even the spec book says it does to the RS3 SB, nice inside with some gloss carbon fibre trim aswell if not a little cramped

Yeah I don't see any reason why the TTRS should be any lesser volume than the RS3, unless the new engine revamp had anything to do with it.
I am sure they will go like a rocket and handle incredibly well too.
I do just prefer the practicality & space of my RS3 sportback though, but I have had 2 TT's prior and the Mrs has one now :)

Talking about saloons & sportbacks, who can say that this A3 saloon isn't a thing of beauty ! :hubbahubba:

TBH I would have either, if I had the pennies :thumbs up:

Yes, very nice and the only thing is the rear wing which doesn`t suite the car at all like an ......A7 wing ): otherwise good looking from side view.

Are you taking about deliveries in NZ or the UK? In NZ deliveries are expected to start third quarter.

Basically a pregnancy away from appearing. At a minimum
